Sunkissed

Hello CTK friends!

Anna and Nathalie with you today to shine the spotlight on Patterned Paper.  Let's be honest, we all have a stash of paper we are keeping to document that special memory, and this month's Skyland  Scrapbook, PL kit, Patterned Paper Play and Outside Stories kit are filled with beautiful papers. But before you put them away in your stash, let us show you how you can combine and use them in your projects.  First up is Nathalie.

Hi there!,  Nathalie here to bring you a bit of inspiration using a few of the patterned papers from this month's Skyland kits.  This month, the papers are gorgeous, filled with fun designs, and perfect to document all your memories.

For my layout, i wanted to create a very coastal mood for the page, as it documents a picture of my daughter after spending a day basking in the sun on the beach. For this i picked papers from the Skyland Scrapbook Kit, PL kit, Patterned Paper Play kit and also used a digital card to create a patterned paper for this page.

What better way to use paper and mix patterns than to crate paper flowers. I used a combination of cut files (Silhouette Store) and some dies to create the centers and petals of the flowers.  I used a bone folder to add some movement to the petals. Some of the flowers were layered together, so that they add dimension to the page.

Along the way,  i added a few die cut leaves  (Maya Road die) cut from white cardstock (color a few with green paint, too), so that they will form clusters around the picture and the entire page.   A few of the Scrapbook kit embellishments and elements from the cut apart sheet also were added along the clusters to embellish the page. Finally a few sentiments using the Conversation Starter Stamp complete this page.

Really, the patterns and designs on this month's Skyland kits are gorgeous, and easy to combine in your projects, so do not put them away (not yet at least!).

Bloom

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories - BLOOM -

Hi there!
Nathalie with you today with a new super sweet and simple layout featuring the new Simple Stories BLOOM collection.  This collection is rich in all positive vibes, a beautiful color palette, and my favorite: florals!!

The b-side of the Sn@p Basics Walnut/Cream dot paper was used as the mat for this layout.   Then two large strips of the Happy Times and Today's the Day from the Bloom collection were stitched to the mat.

To bring out a bit of the teal color in the collection, a little bit of mixed media was added to the background, just enough to peek under the picture.  The picture was then layered with papers from the collection and glued to the page.

All the florals in the papers of this collection, as well as in the stickes and ephemera pieces made it so easy to create clusters around the picture.   A bit of fussy cutting the Happy Times paper florals was all that this page needed to shine.

But the Bloom collection also is packed with beautiful quotes and icons (ephemera and stickers) that can easily be added to your projects, in this case, these helped convey the sentiment of the page.

To finish this page, the chipboard sticker ('BLOOM') was used.  The choice to flip the title was made so that it balance the line that the stitched papers form behind the picture.

I think my line, "love how this turned out", would fit this properly, but honestly this was so easy to put together and the results are truly beautiful.   The BLOOM collection is perfect to document those enlighting life moments. I cannot wait to see what you create with it!

XO

Lovely Silly Smiles

Scrapbook Layout create for JustNick Studio - LOVELY SILLY SMILES -

Hi there!
Nathalie with you today with a new layout that brings to life what happens every time i try to take picture of my daughter and her friend.   Since, these are the best smiles i would get from both at the same time, I decided to document the picture using a few cut files from the Just Nick Studio store.

For this page, I chose to combine a few cut files, and techniques.   First I used the  Stack Em Up Background to create the background for this layout.   While the Cameo was cutting the file, I used a bit of mists to create a water color background that will fit behind the cut out.

Once I attached the water color background to the cardstock base, I used a bit of foam adhesive to attach the cut out to the base, thus creating that soft shadow on the background.

Next, I used the beautiful "Boho Florals 2" to cut a few motifs from white cardstock, and used papers from Maggie Holmes's Carousel collection to back some of the flowers  in the cut outs.

I used a bit more of foam adhesive to attach the picture and all the floral motifs to the page.   Then used embellishments from different Crate Paper collections to embellish and create clusters around the page.

I love the final look of this page.   It came together rather easily, and it is simple and beautiful.  I hope this inspires you to take a look at all the designs available at the JustNick Studio store,  there is so many designs to chose from.   Remember  I  am a comment away if you have questions on how this came together.

Take care!

BeYouTiful

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories  - BEYOUTIFUL -

Hi there,

Today i am up on the Simple Stories blog with a few layouts showcasing the new BEAUTIFUL collection...

It seems like my kids are growing faster than i would like to  ;( -sad emoji-,  and with each passing day, i see how rapidly they are letting go of my hand.  So I set out to create a page about my daughter, and her ever changing youth.  I was inspired by the small doodled flowers in the collection to create a  floral background for this layout.  Since i love cut files, i pulled the Behold Beauty file from Just Nick Studio to create the large cut out used behind the picture, as the flowers reminded me of the ones in this collection.  A little bit of mixed media using the blush color of the paper bring out the details of the flowers in this page.

To create the background of this page, i cut two strips of paper from the "BeAmazing" paper -i made sure to save the floral edge for a future project-.   The b-sides of the papers in this collection are just as beautiful, so I glued the two strips so that both sides of the paper will show onto white cardstock.   Then trimmed the entire mat, and glued it to the b side of "Simply Wonderful Paper".  A bit of mixed media was then added to the page.

While the mixed media dried, I backed the cut file with pink and white vellum.   Using a punch, a created the butterflies for this layout.  I  used a combination of papers from the 6x8 paper pad to obtain the cut outs, and stitched them together.

Then it came time to embellish the layout.   So i searched for all the doodle flowers available in the collection's coordinating embellishments, and used them to create 3 clusters on the page.   The clear gold stickers worked seamlessly in the background as they mixed nicely with the watercolor background.

All the coordinating stickers, and sentiments in the sticker sheets are perfect to layer, and cluster around the pictures.   I had to restrain myself from adding more stickers to the clusters, instead, I found the black die cut "BeYouTiful" that serves as the title for this page.  Here is a look at the final page:

Aren't the colors and embellishments in this collection just Beautiful!  They are soft, and bold at the same time, but perfect for my teen daughter.

The next layout is coming up on the next post.  Remember to contact me if you have any questions.

See you all soon!!

Shine

Scrapbook Layout created for Maya Road   - SHINE -

Hi there!

I hope you are all doing well.  Today, i am up on the Maya Road DT blog with the  last day of the Maya Road and Photoplay Product/Blog swap.    Please visit the Maya Road DT blog to see all the deatails of the swap.   But know let me show you what i created for this swap using the beautiful Maya Road products, and the super fun Mad 4 Plaid collection from Photoplay.

For my project, I wanted to recreate a Christmas tree just like the one my daughter is sit under in the picture.  Since there are so many beautiful patterns in the Photoplay's  Mad 4 Plaid collection,  i tried to combined them all by using 1x12 in long strips to create paper rosettes.  These were then glued -and stacked- to recreate the Christmas tree silhouette.

Once the entire tree shape was created, I started adding details to the center of each rosette using the sequin stickers from the Mad 4 Plaid sticker sheet, along with some of the Maya Road Pearl Button Trim, and Pearl Flower Trim that were cut individually, and glued to the center of each rosette.

To tie in the picture to the layout, I used a few wood tokens as centers for some of the rosettes -the wood tokens come from the Wood Classic Tokens,  Wood Love Tokens,  Wood Beloved Tokens - .  A little bit of gold acrylic paint was all that was needed to add some shine to each of the tokens.   In addition, since the papers color palette had some grey in it, i added some Silver Star Pins scattered at the edge of the tree.

Every tree needs a topper!, so I pulled some of the Snowflake Chipboard Set, and used gold foil on two of their matching snowflakes (same star, different sizes) to tie in with the gold shine in the wooden tokens; then just glued them together, and affixed it to the top paper rosette.  Our Christmas tree usually has a large bow right under the star, so I added one of the White Pretty Resin Bow to recreate our Christmas tree.

The Mad 4 Plaid collection comes filled ith beautiful papers fun stickers and die cut pieces.   I used some of the stickers to create clusters around the picture, and one of the die cut pieces "SHINE" serves as the title for this project.   To make the small title/die cut pop, i used the Sparkle and Die Steel Die set to create a few star sequin from some of the 6x6  papers from the collection, and then just glued them around the title.

Here is a close up of one of the clusters around the picture, once again,  i used a combination of embellishments, plus I added my favorite charm from the Ken Oliver Heart & Key Charm set to the cluster.
A few flickers of gold paint, and a few lines of journal complete the page.  Can i say that the beautiful Maya Road along with the Mad 4 Plaid collection from Photoplay made it easy to document a memory in July (it was a humid day the day i created this page!!).

Remember to stop by the blog to check all the projects created this week, and leave a comment on each entry, there will be a prize for a lucky comment.  As usual, let me know if you have questions on how this came together.

See you all soon,

Shine Bright

Scrapbook Layout created for Maya Road  - SHINE BRIGHT -

Hello there!

This is the first project of a very busy day here at the blog.  This time the scrapbook layout is for Maya Road, and this month the focus is on CHARMS.

There are so many beautiful products to chose from the store, but i wanted to mixed them up in one single layout, so I opted to create a banner type  design to showcase a picture of my daughter.

MR_NATHALIE DESOUSA_SHINE BRIGHT-2

This layout took very little time to put together.  It all started by marking the two holes where the brads would be located.  A bit of mixed media (using shimmer inks in this case) adds interest, and color to the simple design.

MR_NATHALIE DESOUSA_SHINE BRIGHT-7

Once the background was dry, the brads were put in place, and a bit of gold wax  cording was run only through one of the brads.   Here is where the fun started!.  My idea was to center the picture, and add embellishments to each side of the picture.

MR_NATHALIE DESOUSA_SHINE BRIGHT-4

I started by using the Geometric Feather  Die  to obtain some feathers, one from pattern paper (Carta Bella's Flora 1 collection), one from vellum, and one from cardstock.  I tied them together with some jute twine, and used a Resin Flower  to add some decoration to the bunch.   Now to start building my banner!  I worked from left to right (making sure the picture was centered).

MR_NATHALIE DESOUSA_SHINE BRIGHT-6

First i thread some stickers from the Hello Lovely collection from Simple Stories, next a key charm from the Ken Oliver Heart and Key charm set,  a tag from the Flora collection, followed by the feather bunch.   Next i thread the picture, and secure it to the mat using foam adhesive -s0 that there is dimension to the picture-.

MR_NATHALIE DESOUSA_SHINE BRIGHT-5

Once the picture was secured, i added  a Geometric Heart Die cut backed with vellum, and a Star Bright charm, before adding my journal tag.  A few more stickers and tags from the two collections being used, and finally a Soaring Bird charm completes the banner.  Then the string was secured in the  brad.

Now to complete and balance the page, I used the Sparkle and Shine Die Set to create the title of this page.  By simply cutting the title from some of the papers used in the layout, and then layering them with a bit of an offset creates the illusion of a dimensional title.  A few add ons complete the page.

I hope this inspires you to take a look at all the beautiful MAYA ROAD products available at the online store.  Remember there are still a few days to take advantage of the CHARMS promotion.
You can always contact me if you have any questions on how this page came together.

Til next time!

14!

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  -  14!  -

Hello there!

It is time for my tutorial blog post on Scrapbook Nerd.  Today's post is all about working a single cut file in different ways.  You can head onto  their blog to read all about it.

I used the new free cut file from Scrapbook and Cards today to create the cut out in this page.  Once again, I chose to not cut the outside of the ring, and instead mirror the image to create a completer flower ring.

I used the 6x6 paper pad from Dear Lizzy's Lovely Day collection to back the cut out, then backed the entire ring with a large piece of vellum, and a pale green paper from an old Authentique collection.   Using a paper piercer, I created a stitching guide that adds texture to the page and secures all the layers together.

Small pieces of foam adhesive were added between the flowers and the vellum layer, this adds dimension to the piece.   I placed the picture of my daughter in the bottom junction of the two flower clusters, and chose to add embellishments from the collection along the center line of the ring.   The perimeter of the ring was the perfect place to add the journal lines.  Here is the final layout:

It is so easy to work a cut file in many different ways.  That is the beauty of cut files you can make it your own with just a few adjustments,

Don't forger to visit the Scrapbook Nerd to see the details on how the cut file was manipulated to create the layouts.  Remember I am a comment away if you want more details on how the pages came together.

Thanks for stopping by!
