JUST MARRIED - Simple Stories

Hello there!

Nathalie with you today to share a bit of inspiration featuring the gorgeous HAPPILY EVER AFTER collection from Simple Stories.   Weddings are some of the most joyous occasions, especially when shared with your loved ones.  A few years ago, we traveled to my native Ecuador to the attend my cousin's wedding. We loved being part of the celebration, and I am so glad, the new collection arrived, so I can finally start documenting the grand day and vacation.

I started with a cut file from Handipaper.  This was cut twice from white cardstock, and I backed it with papers from the 6x8 paper pad.

To build the page, I trimmed the Now and Forever paper to 11x11inches.  I created a scalloped border at the opposite side of the floral border.   In addition, I trimmed a 12"x3" strip from  We Do! paper, and used the same punch to create a border.  These two were layered so that the scallops meet at half point, giving the edge movement.  These were glued to the b-side of the 2x2  2x4 elements.

The cut outs were set as a cascade from the top left corner of the page.   Love how the brads bring a pop of shine to the page -as the centers of the florals-.   I kept  the layers behind the picture simple, just framing the photo with a 6x4 card, and adding a few embellishments from the collection.

The large gold foiled foam word stickers are perfect to create titles for your projects.  I simply added a few more embellishments around the title to complete the page.

I cannot wait to continue working on bringing the rest of the memories to live using the gorgeous new Simple Stories HAPPILY EVER AFTER collection. Make sure you check it out!

MONTHLY CHALLENGE - Pinkfresh Studio

Hello there!

It is time for this month's Challenge over at Pinkfresh Studio.  This month  is all about flowers and a fresh colour palette that matches the new Keeping It Real collection.   Of course this is a perfect combination, so here is what I created combining both  prompts:

I  just loved  the color palette, and decided to use the new Cuppa Love cut file to create my layout all about one of my favorite things, COFFEE,

I started with a bit of mixed media on the background.  Sky Blue, Aquamarine Liquid watercolor and also a bit of Mint reinker create the color on the page.  I added a soft impression of the Slim Argyle stencil using Sky Blue ink, and set it aside to dry.

The cut file was cut three times from white cardstock, and the cut outs were glued together to create dimension.   I backed the image with papers from the Keeping It Real collection, and set the cup on the background, followed by the two pictures.   Here was my favorite part, adding flowers from the ephemera pack, puffy stickers, as well as a few embellishments.

The title for the page is a combination of the puffy word stickers and teal alphas -both from the collection-.   Finally a few lines of journal and enamel dots complete the page.

Remember to join in the challenge for a change to win a $50 gift certificate to the Pinkfresh Studio Shop,  I cannot wait to see what you all create!

PINKFRESH STUDIO MONTHLY CHALLENGE

Hi there!

It is the first Sunday of the month, time for a new Challenge from Pinkfresh Studio, and this time is all about RAINBOWS...

If you know me, then you are familiar with my Black and white with a hint of rainbow approach to my work.

I started with a bit of watercolor work for my background.   For this, i used Pinkfresh Studio's Liquid watercolor  in  a rainbow palette and watercolor paper. My idea was to form a soft diagonal rainbow line for my page.

While the background fully dried, i cut the new Floral Corner Swag cut file from white cardstock and used papers from the Celebrate collection and Let's Stay Home collection to back the cut out using the colors of the background as a reference for the flowers.

I used a bit of dimensional adhesive to attach the flora diecuts to the page following the color  formation.  I placed the picture at the center of the page, and surround it with more of the floral die cuts.

I made sure to embellish the page following the position of the colors. For this, i pulled stickers from My Favorite Story collection, Noteworthy collection and Let's Stay Home collection.   For my title, i used alphas from the Let's Stay Home collection and attached them on its corresponding color position.

To finish the page, i added my lines of journal, enamel dots from all the collections, and then stamped sentiments -Celebrate Today stamp set and Pinkfresh Studio inks-  around the cluster flowers.  Just love  how this turned out.

Remember you can join in the Challenge by creating a project that fits the Rainbow theme and linking it to the Pinkfresh Studio blog. A winner is selected each month, the prize: a $50 gift certificate to the PFS shop!

cannot wait to see what you create!

HELLO BEAUTIFUL - Scrapbook Nerd

Hi there

I love paper, and usually Heidi Swapp collections are my favorite, so i asked my friends at Scrapbook Nerd if they could order the collection, and i love how they are able to accommodate your preorders.  So i am using it today to share this page on their youtube channel.

I started with a cut file from Handipaper, and cut it three times from white cardstock -making one frame larger than the rest-.  I used the papers in the collection to back the frames.

I backed the larger polaroid with a picture of my daughter, and used the specialty paper to back the frame picture spaces.   Before setting on the background, i added a bit of white paint  to haze the background.

The images are set on the background with foam adhesive.  Since the frames are delicate, i wanted to keep the decorations to a minimum, and just added a few details around them.

I used the vellum foiled pieces to create the title, and then added a few stars around the page.  The background was trimmed and then framed with a paper from the collection.

The final touch were a few sprinkles of white paint and copper color shine.  I love how this turned out, and how easy it came together.  You can see the entire process in the following video:

Don't forget to check Scrapbook Nerd for the materials used in this page, they are amazing at ordering your products.  If you have questions on how this came together, please do not hesitate to contact me!

FAMILY IS FOREVER - Simple Stories

Hello Simple Stories friends!
Nathalie with you today with an new project all about Family Love!  The new  So Happy Together collection from Simple Stories is the perfect combination of design and sentiment.   I couldn't resist using it to document a picture of my family at my husband's birthday.

I started this page by using a cut file from Paige Evans to cut the word Family three times from white cardstock.  These were stacked and glued together to add dimension to the title, then backed each letter with papers from the collection.  The 6x8 paper pad is the right size to back the empty spaces.

The woodgrain paper - Hello Love paper- is the ideal background for the page.  I trimmed the paper to fit 11x12"and then glued it to the Our Story paper.   A bit of handstitching adds dimension and texture to the page

With so many beautiful sticker and sentiment embellishment in this collection, it was so easy to layer them in clusters around the picture and title.

To finish the page, i added a cluster of embellishments to the bottom of the page.  The scalloped border sticker was a fine detailed that helped soften the edge of the page a bit.   All that was left to do was add my lines of journal.

I hope this has inspired to check the new So Happy Together collection from Simple Stories, you are going to love all the details and sentiments.
Have a  Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

WINTER LOVE - Scrapbook Nerd

Hi there!
It is so close to Christmas already and everything is festive around here.  However, today my good friends over at ScrapbookNerd sent me a box filled with beautiful products.  I had to use them, cause this new collection, Winter Joys from Studio Light is just gorgeous and i couldn't let it sit in my files.

I started this page by running Heidi Swapp Shimmer paste through a Kaiserkraft stencil onto a 12x12 paper from the collection. I covered the area where the title and picture where going to sit and set it aside to dry.

While the background dried, i used my Cameo to cut the this digital cut file -from Handipaper- from white cardstock, and  backed each of the empty areas using the 6x6 paper packs.

I love cool colors, so this collection is probably one of those i will have to stash on my favorites.  So i decided to cut extra flowers and greenery (using the same cut file) so that i could embellish the layout with these cut outs.

I placed the title and picture on a T design on the page, and added the extra die cuts in a zig zag formation across the title and picture, thus forming my visual triangle.

I used embellishments from Pinkfresh Studio - December Days collection-, Carta Bella - Snow Day collection- and the Winter Joys collection to build up the cluster then added small gold puffy stickers along the clusters.  Here is the finished layout:

I love how this turned out ( i love this picture of my son and i a couple years ago) and how much i love this collection, make sure to check it out at the Scrapbook Nerd shop.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Have a  Happy Holidays!

CAPTURED - Freckled Fawn

Hi there!
It is that time of the year when everything is so busy and colorful, but my little heart always goes back to black and white (my favorite color combo ever), so when i got this month's Freckled Fawn kit, i think i squealed a bit!

My first choice is always mixed media, large titles and handstitching... So i played with my Vicki Boutin Art Crayons and create an ombre background for my page.   While that set,  i used my Cameo to cut the title from one of the papers and handstiched the letter using matching thread to the one on the background.

I wished the kit came with a collection of these wooden frames.  I wrapped some embroidery thread (coordinating color) around the edges of the frame and glued a picture of our baby behind it.

The chipboard stickers in the kit are fabulous, so i used a few of them to frame the picture.  I added a few of the past kits god enamel dots so it helps to warm up the page a bit.  Then added my journal line about our beautiful boy under the picture.

To complete the page,  i added two clusters of labels , washi tape and enamel dots at diagonally opposite sides of the page to help balance the page and create a focal point in our page.

Just love how this turned out, and how fun it was to put together.  I am so in love with the Freckled Fawn 6x8 December kit that i am thinking about purchasing a new one!!  remember to check it out.

As always please contact me with any questions about this page!

BELIEVE - Simple Stories

Hi there!  Nathalie with you today to share with you a new layout about documenting the Magic of Christmas using the beautiful Country Christmas.   I love the vintage, classic designs of this collection, and  it was perfect to bring the sentiment of the season to this page.

I wanted to showcase the papers in this collection, so i started by trimming  and distressing the edges of the O Christmas Tree paper, and adhere to the b-side of the Glad Tidings paper.   The color combination of these papers makes the page so festive.

To make the papers shine, i chose a simple design for the page.  First, one of the papers from the 6x8 paper pad was glued to the background ( i picked the paper to match the Glad Tidings paper).  To bring the snow details in the background, i used a cut file from Handipaper to create the snowflake cut out, and then attached it along the left side of the 6x8 paper.

The Sn@p cards are perfect to create layers, and i used one of the 4x6 and 3x4 ones behind the picture.  Then used  the Simple Basic paper pack to create a small pocket that is also layered behind the picture.  Once i attached this to the page, i used a few embellishments from the collection to bring color and fun to the page.

To finish the page, I used the large "Believe" sticker from the combo sheet and  then a small chipboard stickers.   I  chose to handwrite my journal, but finished the paragraph with a few stamped images from the coordinating stamp set.

I love how this turned out, a simple page made perfect by all the papers and embellishments from the beautiful COUNTRY CHRISTMAS collection.   Remember to check the collection, you will love how it can easily bring the magic of Christmas to your pages.
