Pursue Magic

Scrapbook Layout created for Maya Road - PURSUE MAGIC -

Hi there Roadies!!!

Nathalie with you today bringing you a bit of fall inspiration using the beautiful MAYA ROAD products!  I am sure that when you think Fall, there is a lot of different images that come to your mind, mostly leaves, pumpkin and fall colors.   So i used a more modern version of those concepts to create this page all about my mom.

I have had this picture of my mom in my scrapbook folder for a while, and finally decided to create a soft background where the colors of the picture will pop, for this i am using Pinkfresh Studio's Escape the Ordinary collection to create the leaf branch.

I used the Tropical Flowers Die to cut papers from the collection and then arranged them on the olive color cardstock as to form the branch that my mom is hiding behind (we were apple picking at the time!).   All the die cuts were attached with a combination of glue and foam adhesive to create dimension in the page.

Next, the picture was glued to the page, but i added a piece of Ken Oliver Vintage Trim -Rick Rack Edge- under the picture, just to soften the line of the picture once it was glued to the page.  The cluster of ephemera at the corner of the picture houses also the title of  the page, and a Mini Arrow Charm.  Just love all the texture in this cluster.

Next I added a cluster of  beautiful Maya Road products at the other corner of the picture.  This small cluster consists of a Wood Thoughtful Sentiment token, a banner from the Love Chipboard Banner set -it was colored using Gold colorshine-, and a small heart from the Mini Chipboard Heart Confetti set that was colored with deep coral color shine.  Once again I wanted to add textures and colors from the picture.  After that a few lines of journal and some color droplets complete the page.

I love how easy it was to create the leaf branch with the die cuts.   The non traditional colors of the layout are the perfect way to have the picture and title pop from the page.   I really hope this inspires you to create a new take on Fall, and use the beautiful Maya Road goodies to add texture and softness to the page.
That is all for me today!  remember to visit the Maya Road store to check all the products in this page.
XOXO

Shine Bright

Scrapbook Layout created for Maya Road  - SHINE BRIGHT -

Hello there!

This is the first project of a very busy day here at the blog.  This time the scrapbook layout is for Maya Road, and this month the focus is on CHARMS.

There are so many beautiful products to chose from the store, but i wanted to mixed them up in one single layout, so I opted to create a banner type  design to showcase a picture of my daughter.

This layout took very little time to put together.  It all started by marking the two holes where the brads would be located.  A bit of mixed media (using shimmer inks in this case) adds interest, and color to the simple design.

Once the background was dry, the brads were put in place, and a bit of gold wax  cording was run only through one of the brads.   Here is where the fun started!.  My idea was to center the picture, and add embellishments to each side of the picture.

I started by using the Geometric Feather  Die  to obtain some feathers, one from pattern paper (Carta Bella's Flora 1 collection), one from vellum, and one from cardstock.  I tied them together with some jute twine, and used a Resin Flower  to add some decoration to the bunch.   Now to start building my banner!  I worked from left to right (making sure the picture was centered).

First i thread some stickers from the Hello Lovely collection from Simple Stories, next a key charm from the Ken Oliver Heart and Key charm set,  a tag from the Flora collection, followed by the feather bunch.   Next i thread the picture, and secure it to the mat using foam adhesive -s0 that there is dimension to the picture-.

Once the picture was secured, i added  a Geometric Heart Die cut backed with vellum, and a Star Bright charm, before adding my journal tag.  A few more stickers and tags from the two collections being used, and finally a Soaring Bird charm completes the banner.  Then the string was secured in the  brad.

Now to complete and balance the page, I used the Sparkle and Shine Die Set to create the title of this page.  By simply cutting the title from some of the papers used in the layout, and then layering them with a bit of an offset creates the illusion of a dimensional title.  A few add ons complete the page.

I hope this inspires you to take a look at all the beautiful MAYA ROAD products available at the online store.  Remember there are still a few days to take advantage of the CHARMS promotion.
You can always contact me if you have any questions on how this page came together.

Til next time!
