JUST MARRIED - Simple Stories

Hello there!

Nathalie with you today to share a bit of inspiration featuring the gorgeous HAPPILY EVER AFTER collection from Simple Stories.   Weddings are some of the most joyous occasions, especially when shared with your loved ones.  A few years ago, we traveled to my native Ecuador to the attend my cousin's wedding. We loved being part of the celebration, and I am so glad, the new collection arrived, so I can finally start documenting the grand day and vacation.

I started with a cut file from Handipaper.  This was cut twice from white cardstock, and I backed it with papers from the 6x8 paper pad.

To build the page, I trimmed the Now and Forever paper to 11x11inches.  I created a scalloped border at the opposite side of the floral border.   In addition, I trimmed a 12"x3" strip from  We Do! paper, and used the same punch to create a border.  These two were layered so that the scallops meet at half point, giving the edge movement.  These were glued to the b-side of the 2x2  2x4 elements.

The cut outs were set as a cascade from the top left corner of the page.   Love how the brads bring a pop of shine to the page -as the centers of the florals-.   I kept  the layers behind the picture simple, just framing the photo with a 6x4 card, and adding a few embellishments from the collection.

The large gold foiled foam word stickers are perfect to create titles for your projects.  I simply added a few more embellishments around the title to complete the page.

I cannot wait to continue working on bringing the rest of the memories to live using the gorgeous new Simple Stories HAPPILY EVER AFTER collection. Make sure you check it out!

HIPPITY HOPPITY OUR EASTE BUNNIES LAYOUT | with Nathalie

We are all counting down the days until we have an excuse to eat chocolate eggs!  Well, my littles ( niece and nephew) are probably the biggest Easter fans, especially of large baskets of treats.  They even wear the bunny ears and matching pjs for the occasion. So, the new HIPPITY HOPPITY collection is just perfect to document some of these memories.

The focus of this layout was their bunny ears, which lead me to create the bunny silhouette cut out. I simply drew the shape on white cardstock, cut it out, and hand stitched the entire border.

The bunny silhouette is backed with a piece of white vellum. What better way to fill the space than colorful Easter eggs.   For this, I fussy cut almost an entire page Hunting paper, and then glued them ( with foam adhesive) to the vellum piece.   I framed the page with the Hoppy Day paper.

I used papers from the 6x6 paper pad to back the pictures, and added small borders from fussy cut pieces from the Easter Egg paper.   Then it was all about embellishing this page.  The title is a combination of Odds & Ends, and Chit Chat pieces plus Monochromatic Alpha Stickers.  Don't we all love the little bunnies in the scooter!!

I added a few more bunnies around the page, all is left to do is add the journal (my sister can do that when she gets this in her album).  Remember to check the new HIPPITY HOPPITY collection, it brings happy in every single piece.

Altenew Celebrating Parents Card Drive Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hi there!

Welcome to ALTENEW CELEBRATING PARENTS CARD DRIVE BLOG HOP + GIVEAWAY.  You are arriving from Altenew Card Blog.  A list of all the participants is available at the bottom of this post for your convenience.

We all have been hit -in a way or another- by the world wide events.  However, it is our eldest who have  and are suffering the most.   So, what better way to bring a bit of hope, and happiness to their lives than  to receive a small token of our gratitude, love, appreciation, and constant regard for their well being.   It is with this idea in mind, that Altenew has started this PARENT CARD DRIVE and blog hop+giveaway. You can read more about the cause here.

Even, when I am not a full time card maker, I couldn't let the opportunity pass to be a part of today's hop, so let me show you what I have created:

There are so many Altenew products to choose from when it comes to creating cards. So, I decided on creating this set to celebrate moms and dads with pops of color.

For my MOM card I decided on a fuchsia/pink color palette.  Using the PEONY DREAM 3D DIE SET, I create the two flowers from pink shades of cardstock.  The florals are paired with gray leaves -created using the JUST LEAVES DIE SET.

These were set at the top of a white cardstock panel so that leaves cascade to the bottom of the card.  Here, I used the FINE ALPHABET DIE SET to cut the word "MOM" from white cardstock, twice ( a bit of   DOUBLE SIDED ADHESIVE SHEETS makes all of these come together easily).

To accent the color of the flowers, I glued the panel to a  top fold fuchsia A2 card base, and added a few color sequin  around the card. Just love the color pop on the card.

Of course, I had to create a complimentary DAD card for this set.  For this, I started by creating the sentiment of the card using  CAPS BOLD ALPHA DIE SET and COOL SUMMER NIGHT SLIM WASHI TAPE SET.  I cut the letters twice ( heavy white cardstock as the base of the letters) and stacked them to form my sentiment.

What makes the cards a set, is the use of the JUST LEAVES DIE SET as a repetitive element in both of them.  I cut the leaves from gray cardstock, and attached them to a white cardstock panel, so that they frame the sentiment  in the center of the panel.

In order to accent the sentiment, I attached the card panel with a bit of foam adhesive to an A2 teal card base, then added silver and color sequin throughout the card.   Simple, clean, and bold!

I love how these turned out, and cannot wait until they make their way to the Drive.   Remember you can also help to give back to Altenew's cause by joining the card drive.  Click here for more information, or by giving back through your purchases.

Altenew Paint-A-Flower: Coral Sunset Outline Stamp Set Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello there!

Welcome to ALTENEW PAINT-A-FLOWER: CORAL SUNSET OUTLINE STAMP SET RELEASE BLOG HOP + GIVEAWAY.  You are arriving from Carol Hintermeier's blog.  A list of all the participants is available at the bottom of this page for your convenience.

It is time for this month's Paint-A-Flower: CORAL SUNSET OUTLINE stamp set release.  And what a beauty it is!  The large coloring area of the flower is detailed and the right size for all kinds of projects.   This time, I chose to create a card (OMG. I made cards!) for the hop:

Lately, I have been  on an Artist Marker coloring streak -hoping to get better at it-.  I stamped the image on Nenah 110 lb cardstock with Obsidian ink, and then used the new Sunshine Valley Garden Artist Marker set.

I fussy cut the flowers, as I wanted them to be the focal point of this card.  Then created my panel from blush cardstock.  Then created a band from cream cardstock.  I used a bit of foam adhesive to prop the flowers on the card.  The sentiment comes from the same stamp set!

I love this month's PAINT-A-FLOWER: CORAL SUNSET Stamp set.  Remember you can always subscribe to the PAF program to secure the stamp at a lower cost each month.

Of course we are celebrating this release with a GIVEAWAY!

BACK TO SCHOOL - Simple Stories

Hello there!

It's Nathalie with  you today to share a  new project featuring  the beautiful SCHOOL LIFE collection.   I am sure that school around your corner of the world looks a little bit different nowadays.   However, I love to go back and look at the pictures of my kids on their first day of school.  They were always so happy to start a new year, and the new Simple Stories collection is just perfect to document all sorts of school stories ( even the new virtual ones!)

I just love how easy this page came together.  My inspiration was all the colorful rulers in the School Rocks paper.   Once, the rulers were cut out,  I decided to attach them to the background as if they were in a funky pile.   The Making The Grade paper is perfect for the background of the page.   I trimmed the background about 0.5" on each side, then framed the page with the Honor Rollin' paper.

The chipboard frames are always one of the first embellishments I reach for.  This time, the sentiment in the small frame was perfect for the picture.   Once, I placed the photo on the background, it was all about embellishing.   It was so easy and so much fun to just bring the  Bits and Pieces, Stickers, and brads to create a cluster at the top of the frame, as if cascading from the top edge of the page.

One of the journaling spots had a small sentiment that  read, " You Rule", which fits this page perfectly!  So, I added it to the bottom of the picture and used a few more of the embellishments to create clusters at the bottom of the picture, too.

The foam stickers in the SCHOOL LIFE collection are awesome; they created the perfect title for the page.  I repeated a small grouping of embellishments next to the title to continue the look of the page, and give it a cohesive look!

This page was so fun to put together, took no time, and I just love all the colors, designs and dimension of the layout.   I hope you check the  new SCHOOL LIFE from Simple Stories at your closes scrapbook supplies store.   You are going to love revisiting all your school adventures!

HELLO EASTER EGGS - Doodlebug Design DT

Raise your hands if you are ready for Spring!   Well, the new  HIPPITY HOPPITY collection brings enough Spring feelings in its color and designs that it is so easy to document all Spring and Easter memories, specially those chocolate eggs my teens are so fond of!

As soon as I saw the Easter Egg Stripe paper, the idea of paper piecing the eggs came to mind.   A pair of sharp scissors, a hand drawn template, embroidery floss, and some cheesy movie on Netflix was the perfect date night.

After all the fussy cutting and hand stitching, I went ahead and added three smaller eggs.  These are made from the 6x6 paper pad. With all the color and texture in these, I opted for a Pettite Print for the background, and just a few embellishments for the pictures.

I cannot get enough of these chicks!  I just love them!   They were just perfect to emphasize the title of the page, and bring the page together.

I cannot wait to see all your Spring and Easter memories recorded with the gorgeous HIPPITY HOPPITY collection, you are going to love  the results!

Pinkfresh Studio March 2021 Stamp, Die, and Washi Release Blog Hop

Hello there!

Welcome to Pinkfresh Studio March 2021 Stamp, Die, and Washi Tape Release Blog hop.  Today we are so excited to celebrate the release of a brand new set of projects that are gorgeous, and can be used in all sorts of paper crafting projects.   I was lucky to receive the entire collection, but decided to focus on two of the sets for this project (and might have used it all for another project coming to IG)

I used the new Joyful Bouquet and  English Garden sets to create my layout.  In addition, I combine both sets with papers and embellishments from the Some Days collection, and a bit of mixed media on the background.

I am using a bit of Ocean Breeze and Mint on the background just to add some color , and make sure all the flowers pop from the page.  While the ink set, I worked on creating my flowers using the Washi Tapes and die sets.

My idea was to create a soft swag of flowers that hug the picture.  So, I used the Shaker Tags die to cut a banner for the picture, and glued the picture to the side of it.  Then attach a journaling piece from the collection to the other side of the flag.    Here was all about adding the flowers to create my swag.   Cannot tell you how much I love these.   It is so much fun to have as many flowers as I wanted to layer behind the picture.

Even though, I added a small title.  I decided to add a small subtitle at the bottom of the page.  I used the new English Garden stamp set, and then framed the sentiment with a piece of washi tape.   Just love how this all came together

I am sure you are also trying to pick a favorite washi tape/stamp/die from the release.  Remember you can use this weekend promotion to  start your collection:
