Sunkissed

Hello CTK friends!

Anna and Nathalie with you today to shine the spotlight on Patterned Paper.  Let's be honest, we all have a stash of paper we are keeping to document that special memory, and this month's Skyland  Scrapbook, PL kit, Patterned Paper Play and Outside Stories kit are filled with beautiful papers. But before you put them away in your stash, let us show you how you can combine and use them in your projects.  First up is Nathalie.

Hi there!,  Nathalie here to bring you a bit of inspiration using a few of the patterned papers from this month's Skyland kits.  This month, the papers are gorgeous, filled with fun designs, and perfect to document all your memories.

For my layout, i wanted to create a very coastal mood for the page, as it documents a picture of my daughter after spending a day basking in the sun on the beach. For this i picked papers from the Skyland Scrapbook Kit, PL kit, Patterned Paper Play kit and also used a digital card to create a patterned paper for this page.

What better way to use paper and mix patterns than to crate paper flowers. I used a combination of cut files (Silhouette Store) and some dies to create the centers and petals of the flowers.  I used a bone folder to add some movement to the petals. Some of the flowers were layered together, so that they add dimension to the page.

Along the way,  i added a few die cut leaves  (Maya Road die) cut from white cardstock (color a few with green paint, too), so that they will form clusters around the picture and the entire page.   A few of the Scrapbook kit embellishments and elements from the cut apart sheet also were added along the clusters to embellish the page. Finally a few sentiments using the Conversation Starter Stamp complete this page.

Really, the patterns and designs on this month's Skyland kits are gorgeous, and easy to combine in your projects, so do not put them away (not yet at least!).

Summer Days

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - SUMMER DAYS  -

hi there!

It is time for a new project for Scrapbook Nerd.  This week our focus is on the many free digital cut files the stores offers.  So with summer in full swing here in Toronto, I chose to use an image from the "Let The Sunshine In" cut file to create the background of this page.

First I chose to only use the large circle image, so i sized it to fit on half the  page.   To have the cut our pop on the page, I chose to add some Vicki Boutin art crayons (watercolor) to the background of the page.

While the background dried, I backed the cut out using papers from Simple Stories' "Hello Summer" collection and a bit of foam adhesive to create a bit of dimension on the cut out.

Once the picture was added, I went ahead and used stickers and ephemera from the collection to frame the picture and add a visual triangle to the page.

To finish, I trimmed a bit of the layout, and added a strip of rainbow to the page, a few black ink drops, and lines of journal. LOVE how this turned out  The colors are just perfect for the season, and the selfie of my kids and i wearing shades.

Remember to stop by Scrapbook Nerd to check all the free cut files available, and all the materials used in this page.

Life is Lovely

Scrapbook layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - LIFE IS LOVELY -

Hi there!

It is Crate Paper week over at Scrapbook Nerd this week.   With so many collections to chose from, I had to go with Maggie Holmes Flourish collection.  I mean her taste in florals is superb, and this collection has become one of my favorites from her.

I usually create backgrounds just for fun, and then see what i can add onto them.  This time, i played with some Distress Oxides to create the watercolor in the background.

Next I chose to use one of the wooden frames for the collection to bring the title to focus.  Before completely gluing the frame to the bakground, I layered some of the flower ephemera around the frame.

Next I attached the picture of my baby taking care of me (while i was sick) besides the frame, and added some stickers and pieces of ephemera to bring some focus to the picture.

Finally,  the page was trimmed on all sides, and then attached to another paper from the collection.  A few lines of journal and gold ink splatters complete the page.

I love how this turned out!  All the florals in combination with the watercolor background are perfect to pop an everyday picture.

Remember to stop by the Scrapbook Nerd store to check all the materials used in this page, and all the new collections that are arriving to the store. You can check more inspiration using Crate Paper collections on the Scrapbook Nerd  Friends Facebook Page.

As always let me know if you have questions on how this came together.

Take care!
