Read Always

Scrapbook Layout created for Citrus Twist Kits  -  READ ALWAYS  -

Hi there!

Time is flying, and we are about to move onto October, so how about one more project for Citrus Twist Kits using their September kits before we move onto the beautiful October kits.

For this page, i used the "Good Stuff" add-on kit and few of the exclusive stamps.   Just love the 6x8 Willow LAne paper pad included in the kit; so, a pulled a few of the papers to create a title for the page.

The letters were cut on the Silhouette Cameo, and then hand stitched to bring a bit more detail and color to the title.

Before adding the title onto the page, I used a bit of Whipped Spackle and a Stencil from Echo Park to add a bit of tone-on-tone deital to the background.  The letters were then glued straight to the page.  To complete the title i used the colorful alphas from the WIllow Lane collection under the large handstitched letters.

Next, I nestled the picture under the letters, and added a few details using the Vicki Boutin ephemera pieces, all the brads and enamel dots from My Mind's Eye and then a few Chipboard stickers from Amy Tangerine included in the Embellishment kit.

A few elements from the monthly cut-apart sheet and some stamped images using CTK exclusive stamps was all that this layout needed.  Love how this page came together so easily, and filled with texture and color.

Remember to stop by Citrus Twist Kits to check all the kits and add ons used on this page, and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions on how this was put together.

Life is Amazing

Scrapbook Layout created for Just Nick Studio  -  LIFE IS AMAZING  -

Hello everyone!
Nathalie with you today with a new layout that focuses on the love my two younger babies have for each other.

As soon as Nicole showed us this month's cut file designs, I was completely in love with the new "Loopy Circle Background", so I cut two of the designs from white cardstock, then backed the circles with vellum and papers from the new Cocoa Vanilla Studio's Bohemian Dreams collection.

.

Once the cut outs were attached to the page on a diagonal,  the title was stitched to the page using the "Life Is Amazing" cut file.   A bit of watercolor helps to add definition to the title, and makes it pop from the page.

Finally  the picture of my little ones was added. Since there is so much going on the background, i chose to back the picture with a small cut out from the "Infinity Hearts" cut file, and a few embellishments from the collection.

I love how the circles form the perfect background for the page, and bring the picture forward.  All the new designs being added to the Just Nick Studio store are divine, are so easy to work with. Remember to stop by the store to check them all.

I am always a comment away if you have any questions on how this came together.

See you all soon!

#Be Brave

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - #BE BRAVE -

Hi!

I hope you are doing well!

Today i am back with the first official project as the DT coordinator for Scrapbook Nerd.  I am so thankful to Joy and Barb for trusting on me!.    This time, I want to share a bit of the back story for this picture, before i show you how i created the layout.

I took this picture while hanging off a bridge high over a running river, just so i could take pictures of my kids walking down the river bank... I am a bit crazy that way.   Now back to the layout.  I love a big title, so I used one of the Silhouette alphabets to create the letters and then fuse them all together  with a bit of hand stitching to create the large title for this page.    The collection being featured is 1Canoe2 Creekside collection,

Since there is so much going in the background, I am kept the rest of the page simple. Just a few stickers around the picture.

And a few details around the bottom of the page just bring the page together.  Before i show you the completed page, I want to say that i am in love with the river paper, and it fit the picture so perfectly, i just had to use it.

LOVE, love how this page turn out.   Even when it is so far off my usual white backgrounds,  i could not have been more pleased with the outcome.

I hope this inspires you to pick up a patterned paper as a background.  Remember you can find all the materials used here in the  Scrapbook Nerd store.   As always feel free to contact me with any questions.

Keep on Craftin'

You Sparkle -TCS

Scrapbook layout created for The Cut Shoppe   - YOU SPARKLE  -

Hello there!

Happy Spring everyone!

today, I am up on the Cut Shoppe blog with a new project that celebrates Spring.  I wanted to bring lots of colors, and cheerfulness to this picture of my niece, so I chose the newly released Social Butterfly cut file as  a highlight of this piece.

For this layout, i highlighted just one of the butterflies of the cut file, and cut them in different sizes on white card stock.  Using the same images, I cut the butterflies on papers of the Maggie Holmes Chasing Dream collection, and vellum.

I glued the butterflies just through the middle line, to each other, and the card stock.  Using a paper piercer, i poked holes, and stitched the body of the image, and added antennae to the images.  I made sure to leave the wings unattached so that they can be raised as in flight.

The title was created by stitching the word "Sparkle" from the 'Tis the Season cut file.  A bit of an offset makes the title pop, and the pink water color just complements the colors of the page.  Here is the final layout:

This layout is just so Springy, it  brings life to this very long winter.   The dimension and movement in the butterfly wings just add so much interest to the page.  Don't forget to check the Cut Shoppe Etsy store to pick these and the many beautiful designs available.

I hope this inspires you to work with colors and cut files.  As always let me know if you have any questions.

take care!

Love Your Selfie

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  -  LOVE YOUR SELFIE  -

Hello there!

I am half way my reveal week for Scrapbook Nerd,   just  a few more projects to go.

My little nephew is always on the run,  but he usually slows down for food, and to take selfies.   I make sure to always snap a few pictures of him  - they grow so fast-.   Thankfully my dad also took the picture of my phone as i was snapping the selfie, and gave me a copy.   I love this picture, and chose to use it as the centerpiece for this piece.

For the background of this page, I used a Silhouette cut file to create the large title.  Once cut, i stitched it to the page following the colors in the paper.

The title takes a large part of  the page, but left enough space for me to add the picture, and create clusters using pieces from the Life Noted collection, and the Mix #1 both from Pinkfresh Studio.

To ground the page. I added small pieces of papers  as to create a paper corner.  I tucked some pieces from the collections in this paper corners - this helped  create a visual triangle on the page.  Here is the final layout:

Isn't it so cool,  that all these paper colletions, just  work together, making it really easy to document  your everyday momenta.   Remember to check the Scrapbook Nerd shelves to pick most of the materials uised in this page.  I am just a comment away if you need assistance,

take care!

Hello Snow

Scrapbook Layout  created for The Cut Shoppe  -- HELLO SNOW  --

Hello there!

Happy Monday everyone.

This winter, we here in Toronto got our first snowfall very early in the season.  I think we all like to see the ground covered in snow, but I think my little one enjoys this more than all of us combine.  So i set out to document his elation at playing in the fluffy first snow in a layout for The Cut Shoppe.

For this project, the background was created using the Frosty Flakes cut file.   I cut it on white card stock, and backed the snowflakes with vellum.

The title of this pieces was created using the Wintry Mix cut file.  I simply perforated the image with the Cameo, and added an offset to the image.  A little bit of metallic watercolor, and some hand stitching complete the title.

The picture of my little one jumping to catch snow balls in the air was layered with papers of the Snow and Cocoa collection from Crate Paper,  I used many elements from the collection to create clusters around the page.   Here is  the completed layout:

Doesn't the colors of the layout make the snowflakes in the cut outs shine?   I gotta say that this layout came together very rapidly, and with lovely results.   If you would like to check the cut files used in the layout, then visit the Cut Shoppe to pick these amd many more cut files being added every other week.

Thanks for visiting today!

Be Grateful Be Thankful Be Blessed

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - Be Grateful, Be Thankful, Be Blessed -

Hello there,

I am pulling double duty today!  I have a double reveal for my November projects in two of the design teams I belong, too.   So please just bare with me!

Today I bringing you a new layout I have created for Scrapbook Nerd using the beautiful Golden Days collection from Fancy Pants designs.   I have been waiting for this collection, since the day  I saw a sneak of the papers,   and now that I have it in front of me, I had to use it right away.

I started constructing this page by using the Cut Shoppe's new "Bountiful Blessings" cut file to create a stitched title on this soft plaid paper from the collection.  Once i finished stitching, I went ahead and added gold watercolor from the Prima Metallic palette.

I usually take pictures in a series (that way i know one of the pictures will be good!), and this time i shot my sister and the littles (my niece and nephew) at the Humber River Trail during our Thanksgiving walk.   I picked the best 3 pictures of the bunch, and created a film strip with them.  I chose to just keep my sister's favorite in color, and in the center of  the strip.   I layered papers from the collection, and fussy cut the beautiful florals to accent the strip along with some die cuts, cork  and Puffy stickers from the collection.  You can see all the details in the close ups above.   I wrote the  journal lines in a tag from the collection, and hid them inside a small glassine bag behind the picture strip.   Here is the final layout:

Have i mentioned that i love this collection!, and the ladies at Scrapbook Nerd were so great at ordering it as soon as I mentioned that I would love to work with it (trust me, the Scrapbook Nerd ladies are awesome!).

As always let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for visiting!

Adventure Awaits

Scrapbook Layout created for The Cut Shoppe - Adventure Awaits -

a close up to the layout

Hello everyone!

I love cut files, it is no secret!.  So when Ashley, the owner of The Cut Shoppe, gave us a copy of the Brush Up Alpha file, I knew the letters would work perfect in a circular design.   I made sure to create the background by using the Silhouette Cameo to draw the circles and letters on the background.  Using a piecing tool, i created a guide for my stitching.  I used two colors of embroidery thread to stitch the background.  The middle circle uses white thread, the outside circle used light green, and the middle circle used two strands of each.

Here is the background before the picture was attached.

To add interest to the piece, I used the Cut Shoppe's Arrows with Attitude cut file to create the arrow cut-outs, and used Bella Blvd.  Alex collection to back each piece.

The arrows were attached to the layout using foam adhesive. this adds dimension to the layout.  I chose to glue the arrows on a slant, so that all the pieces on the layout worked cohesively.

The picture was attached to the center of the layout.  All the clusters created were formed with pieces from the collection.

The papers from the Alex collection are perfect to document teenage boys pictures.

I added my journal lines in the pocket space created on the lower part of the picture.   Here is what the final layout looks like:

I love everything about this layout, and I hope you do, too.   To check this cut files, and many more, don't forget to visit the Cut Shoppe's etsy store.

Till next time,

Happy  Crafting!
