Hello everyone!
It is time to share my bit of inspiration for Scrapbook Nerd. With the weather being so hot here in Toronto, all i have been thinking is of our last vacation to Ecuador, so I pulled one of the pictures to create this page showcasing Bella Blvd's Island Escape collection.
It all started with recreating the colors of the beach using some mixed media, for this I used some white acrylic paint and Distress Oxides. I played with the inks so that they had the definition of sand and water.
Next, i pulled a cut file from the Silhouette Store, and back the letters with papers from the collection. A bit of foam adhesive helps with adding that extra dimension to the page. The Acrylic word just completes the title.
Using the embellishments from the collection, I added a few clusters around the page, very simple clusters as there is so much color and designs already there.

Hello Nerds, and friends!
It is time for a new entry of the Silhouette Savvy Series. This is a tutorial, that had been shown before, but since then the Silhouette software has been updated, and the new version does not perform all the commands from the previous version, so I want to show you an updated version of the same tutorial. So sit back, and enjoy the following video that will show you how to create the stitching guide followed by the completion of the layout:
As you can see in the video, the Silhouette software does not have a perforate edge command anymore, instead you have to tell the machine what to do by choosing the type of line you want it to create on the layout.
I used the cut-line to add the stitching that forms the background/title for this page. This is a way to shorten the tedious work of poking holes along the entire perimeter of the design.
This title took a bit of time to stitch (6 strands of embroidery floss use), but the texture and look it brings is worth the time... Just put on some music or a movie on, and start stitching away.
Once all the stitching was completed, I accented all the details with some Shimmer watercolor (Prima Marketing Metallics Palette), and some embellishments from the Illustrated Faith Advent collection.
I kept the stitching as the second focal point of the page, and chose a b/w picture so that it pops from the layout, A few paper layers and embellishments complete this page.

Traveler's Notebook Spread created for Citrus Twist Kits - MY PERSONAL JOURNAL -
Hi everyone!
It is finally feeling like Fall here in Toronto, and I am enjoying it all
Today, I am bringing you a new entry to my personal journal created for Citrus Twist Kits that shows my love for Fall, and how excited i was to see the first signs of the season.
It all started when i found the "Abundantly Blessed" paper from Illustrated Faith in the Patterned Paper play kit, and fell instantly in love with the acorn designs, and all the beautiful little sayings on the acorns. Since I had used a large piece of it for another project, i used the leftover piece to serve as a mat on the TN.
Then used the b side of the paper to mat the picture, and glued it to the page along with some of the embellies from the kit. To complete the page, the corner opposite the picture was folded in, and a cluster of ephemera and exclusives was added to form the title.
This month's stamp (included in the main kit) worked perfect to complement the page. I love how this came together... The paper, and all the ephemera worked seamlessly to bring this page together.

Happy Fall Y'all! and to all our Canadian friends, I hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving weekend.
Nathalie here today with a bit more Fall inspiration. What can I say, it is my most favorite season of the year, there is so much to love about it! This time i pour some of my joy for the season into this layout that documents my kids on last year's Thanksgiving walk.
Fall is all about color, and changes in nature, so what best that to recreate some of those fallen leaves using the Leaf Cluster cut file - one of my favorite cut files from the store -.
For this page, I used two cut outs created from the Leaf Cluster cut file in different sizes. First, I used some Prima Watercolor (Decadent Pies palette) to add quite a bit of color to the background.
While it dried, I backed the cut out with papers from Bella Blvd. Gratitude Documented collection. Then just attached the cut outs to the page with some strong adhesive.
For the title of this page, I used the new "I Like Fall" cut file to cut just the word Fall from the design. An offset was all I used to create the stitching of the title. A bit of watercolor completes the look of the title, and makes it pop from the page.
Love how easily this page came together. The colors that back the cut outs bring out the details in the background and in the beautiful cut file design. Today, I am up on the Scrapbook Nerd blog with a quick video tutorial for the current project using their new, and free FALL FAVES cut file. This new file was designed exclusively for Scrapbook Nerd by The Cut Shoppe, and it is all about Fall, so sit comfortably, and enjoy the video on how this page came together:
I hope you enjoyed the video. For this page, I am using the new Grattitude Documented collection by Bella Blvd. and a bit of mixed media for the background.
To start, the title was cut at the bottom of the paper from the collection. Then, about a 1/4 in was trimmed from all sides of the mat, and this paper was stitched to a piece of white cardstock. I made sure to back each of the title words with a piece of patterned paper before attaching the mat to the cardstock.
All the leaves were set to cut from white cardstock, in the mean while, a bit of white acrylic paint was then added to the mat as to haze the space where the picture and leaves will be attached.
While the paint dried, some of the leaves were backed with papers from the 6x8 paper pad and vellum - I didn't use gesso on the paper, so there is a bit of warping in the layout-. The picture, too, was also backed with the a side of one of the collection papers.
The leaves were then attached to the mixed media spot with a bit of foam adhesive, and the picture was then nested in between the leaves. Just a few embellishments were placed in clusters around the picture.
For the title, i chose to add the negative pieces of the cut on a bit of an offset onto the respective letter. A bit of foam adhesive was needed to make the title pop. Also, using a white ink pen, the edge of the letters -on the mat- was drawn, so that there is some contrast on the colors of the title. Here is the final layout:
The detail in the cut file in combination with the bit of mixed media bring attention to the picture, making it the focal point of this layout. Remember to stop by Scrapbook Nerd store to pick up your free copy of this cut file. I look forward to see what you create with it!

Hello there!
Today, I am up on the Scrapbook Nerd (we took a break for the Summer season) with a new layout that showcases the newly released All Angles. The cut file was designed by the Cut Shoppe exclusively for Scrapbook Nerd, and you can get your own copy of the cut file for free at the store.
This cut file is so versatile, and can be used to document all types of memories. We have had a packed Summer season, so it was only fitting i chose one of the pictures to document.
For this layout, the cut file was altered at bit, so that it stands out of the page. For this, an offset was added to the entire shape, and then only about half of the cut file was used to create the cut out.
While the cut file was being produced, i created a watercolor background using some Distress Inks so that it recreates the color of the water in the swimming pool.
Once the cut file was ready, i liked the look of the negative triangles as little flaps so i used a bit of foam adhesive to keep them as such, while choosing to back just a few of the rest with papers from the Bella Blvd. Secrets of the Sea collections.
I kept the decorations on the clusters to a minimum so that all the parts of this page will pop and work harmoniously together.
A combination of textures was then used to create the title for this page. I just love the look of the dimension of this page. Here is the final layout:

Scrapbook Layout created for JustNick Studio - HIGH SCHOOL SMILE -
Hi there!
It is Nathalie back today with a new layout to share with you. Can you believe it is time to get the kids ready to go back to school -here in Canada-? With that in mind, i had to document the picture of my kids on their first day of high school (gr. 9 & 11 respectively).
The idea for this page was to recreate a large file, for that i trimmed the white cardstock to fit inside the layout, and used the File Folders cut file to create a large tab that hides under the layout's mat.
I glued the tab to the page's mat, followed by the trimmed cardstock. Then a bit of mixed media was used to create the background behind the picture and title (I wanted to be authentic to my kids's folders at the end of the year, so a bit of distress fits them to a tee!).
I am a sucker for large titles, so i created the one featured in this page by welding the letters from the Shattered Alpha cut file (spelling High School) with the "Smile" from the Word 4 cut file. Then used papers from Bella Blvd, to back the spaces, and attached it on top of the mixed media background using some foam tape.
Finally to complete the page, I added the b/w version of the picture to the side of the title. The Word Tab cut file was handy to create the small tab that was added to the cluster on the pictures. A few more small details complete the page.
I love the final look of the page! I hope this inspires you to document those 1st day of school smiles using some of the JustNick Studio cut files. As for me, I will be doing a small happy dance once they leave for school, followed by a few tears of sadness as they are leaving me!.
