Valentine's Day Cards

Valentine's Day cards created for Scrapbook Nerd

Hi there!

It seems like i blinked and January just flew by... and now we are starting to get everything ready for Valentine's Day, so i thought i put to work my obsession with Concord & 9th stamps to create a set of cards using their December release.  So let's get started...

For the first card, i decided to use the Little Love Tags stamp set to create the heart background of the card using Red Brick Distress ink.   The same stamp was used to emboss a few hearts ( i used WOW gold powder and Lawn Fawn Rose Gold powder).

The hearts were cut using the die set, and then attached to the card using foam adhesive.  The sentiment was then added using black Archival Ink.

For the next card, i used the Hugs and Kissed Turnabout stamp set to create the heart panel using Distress Oxide inks in Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry and Festive Berries.  I used the heart dies in the Little Love Tags to cut the center heart of this card.

I used some foam adhesive to attach the pannel to a piece of paper from the LA LA LOVE collection from Crate Paper, and added an embossed heart (created using the Little Love Tags stamp and die set) in the middle of the card.

For my last card, I chose to emboss the Just Love stamp image onto Vicki Boutin's Foundation paper.  I used my prima watercolor palettes to add the watercolor look to the card.

The gold watercolor comes from the Starry Nights watercolor palette form Gansai Tambi.  To shade the background, I used a combination of watercolor and hb pencil.

I framed the pannel, and then glued it to a made to size card.  Love how these card came together in a short amount of time (even with the detailed watercolor!)

Remember to stop by Scrapbook Nerd to check these stamp and die sets from Concord and 9th, and all the new goodies arriving at the store.  If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me!

Love to Craft

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  -  LOVE TO CRAFT  -

Hi there!

It is a new week, and we are getting close to the end of February.   The month of love is almost over, but before we close it up, i want to share with you all a new layout created for Scrapbook Nerd using the I Rather Be Crafting collection by Echo Park.

I started by creating a watercolor background using a few of my Prima Marketing watercolor palettes.   The shape was given based on the cut file ( by Paige Evans Silhouette collection) that will be placed on top of the watercolor.

I chose to only back small places in the cut file, as I wanted the background to serve as the color behind the cut.

There are so many stickers and small little details in the collection that work perfectly bundled as clusters at the corners of the picture.   The collection's stamp is perfect to add some sentiment to the page.

To create the title of the page, some of the letters were cut from one of the collection cut apart cards, and combine with the collection stickers.  A bit of foam adhesive just adds a bit of dimension and movement to this part of the page.   After a few lines of journal, and some ink splatters, here is the final page:

Just love how this page came together.   All the colors in the background shine through the cut out, but bring the picture forward!

Remember to check Scrapbook Nerd to find all the materials used in this page!   As always, i am around in case you have questions on how this came together.

Take care!

Love With All My Heart

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook  Nerd  - LOVE WITH ALL MY HEART -

Hi there!

It is theme week over at Scrapbook Nerd.  This week's assignment is all about documenting someone you love, or Valentine's Day.   Well that is an easy subject for me, and my choice will always be my Family.  So i decided to document my page (2 more will be done -one for each kid's album) of our latest family portrait.

To create the background, I used some Prima Marketing Pastel Dreams confections to bring a soft watercolor look to the page.

Next, I pulled a Felicity Jane cut file to create the title of the page.   Once cut, it was all backed with papers from Crate Paper's Main Squeeze collection.   Then glued to the page, followed by a small Simple Stories stickers that finish the title of the page.

To frame the picture of our family, I pulled one of my favorite Just Nick studio (Leaf Cluster)  cut file. I cut the file from white cardstock, and backed it with vellum.   It was then added to the bottom of the title.   The picture was then glued above it, and pieces from both Crate Paper collections (Main Squeeze, and Heart Day) were used to create clusters that frame the picture.  A third cluster was then added to the title so that is completes the visual triangle of the page.

A few lines of journal, and gold splatters complete the page.   I love the result of this page!  The soft colors of the background, contrast with the bold title, which brings the softness of the cut out forward, hence bringing the picture forward.

I hope this inspires you to stop ny Scrapbook Nerd to check all the materials used in this page.  Sometimes it pays to keep somre previous collections to combine with more recent ones.

Remember, I am a comment away if you have any questions on how this page came together.

Take care!

Grateful

Scrapbook Layout created for Maya Road  - GRATEFUL -

Hi there, Roadies!!

Nathalie with you today to bring you a bit of inspiration using the beautiful Maya Road products.   It has been a rather cold and snowy winter here in Toronto (Canada), so I have been thinking of better days ahead, and decided to create a cheery layout.

Lately, I have been feeling uninspired, so to kick back my mojo, I pulled some watercolor and a few of the Maya Road dies.

For the background, i used a combination of two of my Prima watercolor palettes and some watercolor paper to try and recreate the background of the picture.

While the background was drying, I used the Geometric Feather Steel dieBe Brave Die Set, and the Geometric Heart Steel Die  to cut a few images from papers from the Quartz Rose collection from Prima Marketing.

Once the watercolor background had dried,  and the picture had been put in place.   A few images from the  Rose Garden Sentiment stamp set  were added (with grey Archival Ink) around the background to mark the places were the clusters of die cuts will be placed.

To create the clusters on the page,   few fussy cut flowers and die cuts were used.  In addition, a Feather clip was added to the top corner's cluster, and different sentiments from the Golden Moments Kit stamp set were added around the clusters.

To create the title of this page, a banner was cut, from one of the collection's papers, using the With Love Nature Die bundle;  and the  word "GRATEFUL" was stamped on it using the Just My Type Stamp Sheet.    After that a few lines of journal, and a few drops of rose gold ink complete the page.

This page came together in less than an hour ( it took that long to have the watercolor background dried completely), and it was the perfect cure for the case of the Blahs.   I hope this inspires you to visit the Maya Road Store   to check for some of the materials used here.

Remember, I am just a comment away if you have questions on how this came together.

XOXO,

Love Life

Image may contain: text

Hi there!

For the past few weeks, some of the members at Scrapbook Nerds Friends and Fans Facebook page have been playing Layout Tag!  Today was the time for the reveal, and it always amazes mes how much a page changes based on each artist.  But let me show you what was my starting point/inspiration:

Image may contain: text

This page was inspired by a Gail Linder original piece from Bella Blvd, and Barb put her twist on it, here is how i interpreted this page:

This is one of my favorite pages from last year!!!  i pretty much followed the original, but replaced the background paper strips with mixed media to match the colors of Pinkfresh Studio's Escape the Ordinary collection.

I used one of Dear Lizzy's large word paintable words as a title, and used gold to pop it from the page.

The rest pretty much stayed as in the provided layout!  Isn't it amazing how things can change from artist to artist.

You can see all the pages created by clicking this link.

It is shaping up to be a colorful year!  Stay tuned for more news!!!

Materials used:
Prima watercolor palettes -  The classics, the Tropicals, Odyssey
Dear Lizzy  - Star Gazer collection - Paintable chipboard words
Pinkfresh Studio - Escape the Ordinary collection - 6x6 paper pad, ephemera, alphas, puffy stickers, stitched hears

World Card Making Day

Hi there!

Happy World Card Making Day!

Scrapbook Nerd is issuing a challenge to all its followers today, and it is all about CARDS.   I am  not a card maker, but i do enjoy  handmade cards with lots of you in it, so I decided to create a card using stamps and a bit of dimension.

For this, I cut a window out of a 5x7 in card.  I backed the window with a piece of cardstock colored with blended Distress oxides  (a few sprinkles of water produce the bleached effect).   To add dimension, i  used a bit of foam adhesive to back the window.

Then i used Altenew's Bamboo Rose set to stamp a few images onto cardstock.   A bit of watercolor (Prima Decadent Pies palette) adds Fall tones to the flowers.   The images were then added to the corners of the card using some foam adhesive, and the sentiment was then created with some of Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams Collection Chipboard stickers.

It took  a bit of time to create the card, as i let the watercolor dry naturally, but it was so worth the final product.  I really hope you will join us in the Scrapbook Nerd Friends and Fans Facebook page to check the details of the challenge.  Let me  know if there is any questions on how this came together.

See you around!

Autumn

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories  - AUTUMN -

I am up on the Simple Stories blog with two new projects, here is the second one:

Have I mentioned, I love FALL!   One of my favorite things to do at fall time is take long walks around the river bank.  My baby (our Boston Terrier) is my most loyal companion, even when i am taking a few pictures of leaves along the way.  So I set to create a layout that captures our daily walks:

For this page, I wanted to bring a bit of the outdoors in; that meant recreating some of the foliage for the page.   For this, I used the Cut Shoppe's "Leaf It To Me" cut file to create leaves from some of the 6x8 papers.

While the machine cut the leaves and vellum to back each leaf,  a  colorful background was created on watercolor paper that had been stitched to the "Happy Life" paper from the collection.  I made sure to add the mixed media just to the area where the picture and leaves would be placed.

Once it was all dried, the page came together rather easily.   Once the leaves were put in place - I used foam adhesive, glue and pop dots to attach the leaves in place), the picture was then nestled a the bottom right corner of the mixed media.

To continue the flow of the leaves's trail, clusters of stickers and ephemera were created at the corners of the picture that was set on the leaves.

All the small details in the stickers, and ephemera pieces of this collection are perfect to bring the fall colors in the picture to the page.  I just love the end look of this page!

Don't you just love the versatility of this collection?!  What can i say, it is FALL PERFECT!  I hope you all are inspired to use the  Simple Stories Vintage Blessings collection to document those close to the heart moments in your life!

Remember you can always contact me if there is any questions on how this came together.

See you all soon!

High School Smile

Scrapbook Layout created for JustNick Studio  - HIGH SCHOOL SMILE -

Hi there!

It is Nathalie back today with a new layout to share with you.  Can you believe it is time to get the kids ready to go back to school -here in Canada-?  With that in mind, i had to document the picture of  my kids on their first day of high school (gr. 9 & 11 respectively).

The idea for this page was to recreate a large file, for that i trimmed the white cardstock to fit inside the layout, and used the  File Folders cut file to create a large tab that hides under the layout's mat.

I glued the tab to the page's mat, followed by the trimmed cardstock.  Then a bit of mixed media was used to create the background behind the picture and title (I wanted to be authentic to my kids's folders at the end of the year, so a bit of distress fits them to a tee!).

I am a sucker for large titles, so i created the one featured in this page by welding  the letters from the Shattered Alpha cut file (spelling High School) with the "Smile" from the Word 4 cut file.   Then used papers from Bella Blvd, to back the spaces, and attached it on top of the mixed media background using some foam tape.

Finally to complete the page, I added the b/w version of the picture to the side of the title.  The Word Tab cut file was handy to create the small tab that was added to the cluster on the pictures.   A few more small details complete the page.

I love the final look of the page!  I hope this inspires you to document those 1st day of school smiles using some of the JustNick Studio cut files.  As for me, I will be doing a small happy dance once they leave for school, followed by a few tears of sadness as they are leaving me!.

You can always contact me if you have any questions on how this page came together.

See you all soon!
