My Personal Journal

Traveler's Notebook  -  MY PERSONAL JOURNAL -

Hello there!

I am so happy Autumn is here! I love the season, and all the colors and textures it brings.  It is also the season, I document the most, which means my TN gets a lot of love, and gets chunkier as the season progresses.  Here is a new post i created  -I am trying my best to be chronological correct this time around- using some older supplies.

I created my own insert this time around, so I am using papers from Maggie Holmes Gather collection to create the pages of the TN.

There is so many pieces of ephemera in this collection, I decided to use them to complete the page.   So I simply layered pieces and pictures of our last day of summer.

I love how all the pieces are layered, and thought the journal would make the page heavy, so instead, I hid it in one of the tags that is layered under one of the pictures.  Here is the final layout:

I hope you find some inspiration on this page, I am so hoping to keep to chronological order this time.  Let me know if you have any questions on how this came together.

Take care!

Enjoy the Moment -

Scrapbook Layout created for JustNick Studio  - ENJOY THE MOMENT  -

Hello everyone!

I am super excited to be part of the 2017-2018 Design Team for JustNick Studio.  I am grateful to GOD first and foremost for all his blessings, and to Nicole for inviting me to be part of this amazing group of designers.  My love for photography and memory keeping introduce me to scrapbooking, and I have been hooked on this craft for many years.  I especially love working with cut files, so getting to work and share my projects with Nicole's designs is just a delight.

For my first project, i chose to work a monochromatic design with lots of texture -aka stitching- and a few of the store cut files.   For this layout,  i chose the gorgeous Floral Burst Background to create the background for the layout.  So I used the cut file to create the large hand stitched flowers in the page.  To add more texture and dimension to the page, some string art was used to fill the inside of each petal on the flowers.

It did take some time to complete the designs, but i find hand stitching relaxing!

To create the title of this page, i chose the Enjoy The Moment cut file, and cut it twice from white cardstock.  The two cut-outs were glued together, and then attached to the bottom of the page using some foam dots (i love the little shadow under the  title!)

The picture of my daughter holding the littlest one (that is how we call the little cousins around here), was framed with some leaf cut outs created from vellum and white cardstock using the  Stem cut file.   A few pieces stickers, and ephemera pieces from the Rose Quartz collection -Prima Marketing- and Gather collection -Crate Paper- frame the picture.

What can i say?  I love this page!  It is full of texture, dimension and cut files, not to mention a black and white picture ;)   Here is the final layout:

Don't forget to check the cut files used in this layout in the JustNick store, there are lots of designs available (all beautiful, of course!).  I am a comment away if you have questions on how this layout came together, and/or you can always find me on Instagram - @tachita55 - !!

See you all soon!

#59

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - #59 -

Hello there!

I hope you all are doing well.    It is my reveal week at Scrapbook Nerd, and this month I was inspired by white spaces and color, and girly things.    So be prepare to see projects that document the girls in my life (and one about my baby!)

For my first project this week, I wanted to document one of my mom's pictures from her 59th birthday   ( this is a redo project, I did not like the first layout I created).   So I chose Crate Paper's Gather collection to create this layout.   It all started with the construction of this shaker element.  I simply used my Cameo to cut a large circle on one of  the papers of the collection, and a circle outline in white card stock. I added a large piece of vellum and hand stitched the edges.  All the sequin comes from the dollar store.

I don't think i will ever have enough of these mint roses!  I had to fussy cut some of the flowers to use then around the picture, along with some card stickers and embelishments from the same collection.

For the title, I pulled the chipboard stickers to simply spelled the number of my mom's age.   I added the hashtag to the title as this is what we used to tag the pictures of her birthday in Instagram.   There was a lot of space were to journal, so I chose the space right below the picture to write a small blurb about this wonderful woman.  Here is finished layout:

I am glad, I chose to re work this picture into a new layout.   Don't forget to check all the materials used at Scrapbook Nerd -the owners are great-.   Let me know if you have any questions on how this came together.

See you all soon!

Perfect!

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kits   - PERFECT!  -

Hello there!

It has been a busy week here in my blog, once again today there will be double duty as it is reveal week.  But we can complain when we are creating beautiful memories in paper.    In this case, this month i have been lucky to play with the beautiful Swan Lake from Clique Kits (and the kit is gorgeous!).  It was so versatile that i created a variety of projects, and a few that will be coming to the blog next week.

I started by using the Cut Shoppe's Oodles of Doodles to create a stitching pattern for this joint heart image.  I used 4 different hues of teal floss to stitch the edges of the cut file.

Once finished stitching, I went and used some shimmering watercolors to add pink and light teal to the image stitched on the page.

I used the papers from the Maggie Holmes's Gather collection (featured in this month's Swan Lake Kit) to layer  the picture of my sister and my daughter during our Thanksgiving weekend.  I fussy cut a few of the teal roses and added them to the clusters of ephemera, and exclusives around the picture.  To create the title, I simply used one of the exclusive printable tags, "Perfect".

I struggled with the placement of my journal lines, but found a solution by using a simple tag, and hiding it behind the picture (I simply used the glassine bag that contained this month's flair).  Here is the final layout:

I love the color combo, the simple but detailed designed, but above all I love the papers and ephemera  from the Swan Lake Kit that just enhanced the beautiful picture of my two girlies.   Don't forget to visit the Clique Kits website to see what the DT has created with this kit, or to obtain a  kit of our own,

Thanksgiving Memories

Scrapbook Layout  created for Clique Kits  - THANKSGIVING MEMORIES -

Hello there,

I am on double duty today!! I have revealing two projects for different design teams on the same day.  It is all good, though!
Today in the Clique Kits blog, my post is all about marking a holiday memory.   I am using the beautiful Swan Lake Kit to highlight a picture of my kids during our Thanksgiving walk, and just like the weather and nature changes, so have my kids.  So i wanted to also change the look of a fall layout to match them (newer, cleaner, and modern).  Here is a small video on how this came together:

As you can see, I am still working a fall motive layout in a more modern way by using non traditional colors, and cleaner lines.
I started by using a large black and white picture of my teens (they have taken this picture since they were small kids), and surrounding it with a leaf wreath from the Clique Kits' exclusive April cut files.  I worked clusters of ephemera and embelishments along the  wreath, here are some close ups :

The corrugated cardstock behind the picture adds dimension to the layout, while the stitched paper strips create a visual triangle that frames the picture and brings the eyes to the wreath.

For the title, I used the Clique Kit's April cut files to cut the word,"Memories".  A little bit of machine stitching adds texture and secures the title to the page.  Finally, I added a few sequins and ink splatters to the page before calling it done.  Here is the final layout:

I love how the beautiful Swan Lake kit, and the exclusive cut files are the perfect complement to a newer version of my kids protraits.  Don't forget to check CLIQUE KITS for this month's Swan Lake kit, cut files and all the materials used in this layout>

Heart Eyes

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - HEART EYES -

Hello there!

It is my reveal week at Scrapbook Nerd, and I have worked some many projects with all the collections I have picked up in the store, that i had to divide some for November, and a few more for December.    For today's project I chose to document one of my favorite pictures from our Thanksgiving weekend,  using some mixed media and the beautiful Maggie Holmes's Gather collection.

The background of the layout was worked on watercolor paper, using the Prima watercolor palettes.  I simply splatter water droplets, and watercolor droplets, and use a wet brush to join the drops together until I am satisfied with the look on the page.   Once it dried, I used a stencil (of very small ovals / leaves), and used Ranger's grit paste along the background.

Since, i wanted to highlight the background of the mat, I kept the picture and its embelishments to a minimum.   I simply fussy cut some of the papers from the 12x12 in paper pad (roses, birds, ticket stubs) and layered them in between the picture.  Here  are a few close ups of the layers:

I used a variety of embelishments from the Gather collection, as well as Shimelle's GO Now Go collection.   The title is made up of this black foil sticker from the Saturday collection, and it was perfect to describe this picture.  Finally, I trimmed the sides of the mat, and attached it to the marbled paper from the Gather collection,  Here is the final layout:

I really love the look of this page, it is colorful  and simple but with lots of little details.  It encapsules the feel of fall to a tee.

As always let me know if you have any questions about how this page came together, and check Scrapbook Nerd to obtain all the products used in this project.   I will be back soon with a few more projects.

XOXO

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kits   - XOXO -

Hello!

Today i am up on the Clique Kits blog with an entry for their Locker Room series.   This time around, i went back to basic scrapbooking, and i am using papers from the beautiful Swan Lake kit to create a layout for one of my favorite summer pictures.   Here is a quick video (this is the condensed version!,  this layout was time consuming due to all the fussy cutting) on how the layout came together:

I hope you enjoyed the video, as you can see this layout was all about fussy cutting papers from the Maggie Holmes' Gather collection -featured in this month's Swan Lake kit-.     Though, I like to be detailed with my fussy cutting, it was a bit time consuming because of all the small details in the papers.  Once the images were cut, the page came together easily by gluing the pieces to the mat using different height foam adhesive.  Here are some close ups:

I kept the details around the picture to a minimum, so that  the picture will be the center of the mat.  I added just a few pieces from the ephemera pack, a few chipboard stickers, and those cute little tassels - all from the Gather collection -.

Since the picture is that of my little nephew apologizing to my daughter, and kissing her away, I chose to title this page XOXO, and used the Dear Lizzy, Petal Thickers  create the title.   The gold chipboard sticker just directs the eye to the picture.   Here is the final layout:

I love the feel and look of this layout, is by far one of my favorites of the year.
AS always, let me know if you have any questions as how this layout came together.  Don't forget to visit the Clique Kits website to check the blog and the store.
