Perfect!

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kits   - PERFECT!  -

Hello there!

It has been a busy week here in my blog, once again today there will be double duty as it is reveal week.  But we can complain when we are creating beautiful memories in paper.    In this case, this month i have been lucky to play with the beautiful Swan Lake from Clique Kits (and the kit is gorgeous!).  It was so versatile that i created a variety of projects, and a few that will be coming to the blog next week.

I started by using the Cut Shoppe's Oodles of Doodles to create a stitching pattern for this joint heart image.  I used 4 different hues of teal floss to stitch the edges of the cut file.

Once finished stitching, I went and used some shimmering watercolors to add pink and light teal to the image stitched on the page.

I used the papers from the Maggie Holmes's Gather collection (featured in this month's Swan Lake Kit) to layer  the picture of my sister and my daughter during our Thanksgiving weekend.  I fussy cut a few of the teal roses and added them to the clusters of ephemera, and exclusives around the picture.  To create the title, I simply used one of the exclusive printable tags, "Perfect".

I struggled with the placement of my journal lines, but found a solution by using a simple tag, and hiding it behind the picture (I simply used the glassine bag that contained this month's flair).  Here is the final layout:

I love the color combo, the simple but detailed designed, but above all I love the papers and ephemera  from the Swan Lake Kit that just enhanced the beautiful picture of my two girlies.   Don't forget to visit the Clique Kits website to see what the DT has created with this kit, or to obtain a  kit of our own,

Thanksgiving Memories

Scrapbook Layout  created for Clique Kits  - THANKSGIVING MEMORIES -

Hello there,

I am on double duty today!! I have revealing two projects for different design teams on the same day.  It is all good, though!
Today in the Clique Kits blog, my post is all about marking a holiday memory.   I am using the beautiful Swan Lake Kit to highlight a picture of my kids during our Thanksgiving walk, and just like the weather and nature changes, so have my kids.  So i wanted to also change the look of a fall layout to match them (newer, cleaner, and modern).  Here is a small video on how this came together:

As you can see, I am still working a fall motive layout in a more modern way by using non traditional colors, and cleaner lines.
I started by using a large black and white picture of my teens (they have taken this picture since they were small kids), and surrounding it with a leaf wreath from the Clique Kits' exclusive April cut files.  I worked clusters of ephemera and embelishments along the  wreath, here are some close ups :

The corrugated cardstock behind the picture adds dimension to the layout, while the stitched paper strips create a visual triangle that frames the picture and brings the eyes to the wreath.

For the title, I used the Clique Kit's April cut files to cut the word,"Memories".  A little bit of machine stitching adds texture and secures the title to the page.  Finally, I added a few sequins and ink splatters to the page before calling it done.  Here is the final layout:

I love how the beautiful Swan Lake kit, and the exclusive cut files are the perfect complement to a newer version of my kids protraits.  Don't forget to check CLIQUE KITS for this month's Swan Lake kit, cut files and all the materials used in this layout>

XOXO

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kits   - XOXO -

Hello!

Today i am up on the Clique Kits blog with an entry for their Locker Room series.   This time around, i went back to basic scrapbooking, and i am using papers from the beautiful Swan Lake kit to create a layout for one of my favorite summer pictures.   Here is a quick video (this is the condensed version!,  this layout was time consuming due to all the fussy cutting) on how the layout came together:

I hope you enjoyed the video, as you can see this layout was all about fussy cutting papers from the Maggie Holmes' Gather collection -featured in this month's Swan Lake kit-.     Though, I like to be detailed with my fussy cutting, it was a bit time consuming because of all the small details in the papers.  Once the images were cut, the page came together easily by gluing the pieces to the mat using different height foam adhesive.  Here are some close ups:

I kept the details around the picture to a minimum, so that  the picture will be the center of the mat.  I added just a few pieces from the ephemera pack, a few chipboard stickers, and those cute little tassels - all from the Gather collection -.

Since the picture is that of my little nephew apologizing to my daughter, and kissing her away, I chose to title this page XOXO, and used the Dear Lizzy, Petal Thickers  create the title.   The gold chipboard sticker just directs the eye to the picture.   Here is the final layout:

I love the feel and look of this layout, is by far one of my favorites of the year.
AS always, let me know if you have any questions as how this layout came together.  Don't forget to visit the Clique Kits website to check the blog and the store.

Piles of Smiles

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kits -  PILES OF SMILES  -

Hi there!

Today, I am up on the Clique Kits blog with a this new project about using the Silhouette Cameo to create a stitching pattern on a layout.  I am using the beautiful Swan Lake Kit for this project (it is loaded with Maggie Holmes's Gather collection).

I started the project by using the Geometric Fall Leaf cut file from the Silhouettes store.  I used the perforate edge function to create the stitching pattern, instead  of cutting the edge.  Since i wanted to add color to the leaf, I decided to use watercolor paper for this layout.  Here are a  few close ups as how the background came together:

I used the Prima watercolor palettes to color the leaf (trying to imitate the colors of the Beautiful paper from the kit). Once the color dried, I used some embroidery thread to hand stitch all the lines of the leaf.   Also,  a 0.5 in was cut from the edges of the mat, and added to the beautiful paper.

I used a black and white picture of my little niece and nephew on one of our walks a few weeks ago.  the picture was layered with papers from the collection, exclusive printable, and a few pieces from the kit add ons, and Simple Stories Posh collection.   The title was created from a Clique Kits exclusive printable that was attached to a little chipboard frame.  I just cut the top edge of the frame, and added a small chipboard heart.   I added some journal lines and sequin to the page before calling it done.

I hope this helps to add some texture through hand-stitching to your projects.  Don't forget to visit  Clique Kits to check this month's Swan Lake Kit and all its add-ons.

Enjoy!

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kits  - ENJOY! -

hello there!

It has been a busy week here in my blog!,  but all good, thanks to GOD!

Today, I am up on the Clique Kits blog with this new layout that uses the beautiful Swan Lake kit.  I love that even though the name sounds girly, the kit is so versatile, it can be used in boy layouts.   This time, I used the papers and ephemera to create a layout about my small nephew.  Here is small video on how the layout came together - i hadn't realized the camera had stopped taping while i was creating the background on the page ... My deepest apologies! -:

I hope you enjoyed the sped up version on how the layout came together.
Here is a small recap on how the page came together:

I used a wet brush to drop water on the area i was to add paint, following splatters of watercolor were dropped on the wet area.  A wet brush helped guide the paint along the area.  To end, a few drops of metallic watercolor were also added.

The layers in clusters around the picture were created using the papers included in the Swan Lake kit.   Last month's kit -Sapphire- contained these skeleton leaves that serve as the background for the page.  In addition, a few extra chipboard leaves were added from this month's Swan Lake add-ons.   The title of the page comes from one of the foiled Kraft tags included in this month's kit.

Finally, I added a few extra details by stamping the sentiment, " enjoy Today" along the area of the page,  adding some of the exclusive printables  around the picture clusters, and a bit of journaling at the bottom of the page.  Here is the final layout:

Doesn't this page say fall and happiness!  I am so loving how Clique Kits' Swan Lake  was perfect to create this layout about our little Mattia.  Don't forget to stop by the Clique Store to check this and many of the new products in the store.

Traveler's Notebook - My Journal

My Journal

Hello to you all!

I hope you all are enjoying the beautiful fall days.   As always, i have been out and about capturing and documenting my every day life.  In fact, i discovered Traveler's Notebooks a few years back, and since then i have used them to keep my personal journals, doodles, art and ideas (sort of like my diary, but in an adult way!).   So I wanted to share with you some of the ways I incorporated Clique Kits' Swan Lake kit to my spreads.

Our latest trip to the local Apple Orchard was the subject for my first spread.  I started by picking three of the pictures, and created a photo strip on Lightroom.  I cut the small corners for the pages from one of the papers from the kit. The picture frames came from one of the papers in the main kit, and were used as layers behind the pictures.  I added a few details to the picture, and some of the exclusive printables to the other corner of the spread to balance the page.  Here is the completed spread:

For the next spread, I documented a picture of my husband and I on our thanksgiving walk.  As you know I don't like to repeat looks, so I chose to use a bit of watercolor in this page.

Once the background dried, the picture was glued to it, along with some chipboard stickers from the Gather collection, die cut pieces from Simple Stories' Posh collection, and one of the exclusive printable icons.

Since this is my journal, I wrote a personal note on my relationship with my hubby, but chose to hide it by attaching a piece of one of the papers from the Gather collection.  I simply used an exacto knife to cut the sentiment to fit to the page length, and used some Amy Tangerine fine washi tape to hold it in place,   Here is the completed layout:

As you can see, it takes only minutes to completely document your every day onto a Traveller's notebook; regardless of your style of book and documenting, Clique Kits Swan Lake kit is perfect to add all those small touches to your pages.
