Life is Lovely

Scrapbook layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - LIFE IS LOVELY -

Hi there!

It is Crate Paper week over at Scrapbook Nerd this week.   With so many collections to chose from, I had to go with Maggie Holmes Flourish collection.  I mean her taste in florals is superb, and this collection has become one of my favorites from her.

I usually create backgrounds just for fun, and then see what i can add onto them.  This time, i played with some Distress Oxides to create the watercolor in the background.

Next I chose to use one of the wooden frames for the collection to bring the title to focus.  Before completely gluing the frame to the bakground, I layered some of the flower ephemera around the frame.

Next I attached the picture of my baby taking care of me (while i was sick) besides the frame, and added some stickers and pieces of ephemera to bring some focus to the picture.

Finally,  the page was trimmed on all sides, and then attached to another paper from the collection.  A few lines of journal and gold ink splatters complete the page.

I love how this turned out!  All the florals in combination with the watercolor background are perfect to pop an everyday picture.

Remember to stop by the Scrapbook Nerd store to check all the materials used in this page, and all the new collections that are arriving to the store. You can check more inspiration using Crate Paper collections on the Scrapbook Nerd  Friends Facebook Page.

As always let me know if you have questions on how this came together.

Take care!

Free Spirit

Hi there!

Nathalie with you today, bringing you a bit of inspiration using the lovely JustNick Studio cut files.   The weather has finally changed here in Canada, and Spring is in full swing.   This is time for new beginnings, clear starts which inspired me to create this page about my little Goddaughter.

I had been eyeing the Mandalla background 1 for a while now, and decided to use it to create the background for this page. I chose to only cut a circle shape filled with the cutfile, so that it would pop off the page.

The negative part of the cut out was backed with the Royal paper from Maggie Holmes Flourish collection, and then followed by a large circumference of hand stitching -this just enhances the circle cut out-.

The cut out was then propped on the layout using a bit of foam squares.   I placed the picture in the lower corner of the layout, and create a large cluster of flowers (all from the Flourish collection) around its bottom corner.

To create the title of this page, I used the  Free Spirit cut file to cut the sentiment twice from white cardstock.   Then the two cut outs were glued together, and a bit of gold watercolor was added on top of the words.   These were then glued to the top of the circumference of the circle cut out.

Love how fast an easy was to put this page together.  The delicate background brings lots of elegance to a simple every day picture.  Hope this inspire you to check all the JustNick Studio digital cut files.  There are so many new designs being added every week.

XOXO

Together

Scrapbook Layout created for JustNick Studio  - TOGETHER -

Hello Friends and Fans!
It is Background week here at the Just Nick Studio blog! There are so many beautiful designs to chose from, but i think every layout that i have created lately are my creative wish for Spring, which means, I used a lot of bright colors to create this page using a kind of "fallish" background.

For this page, I shrunk the 12x12 Leaf background to fit at about 6x12 in.  I simply moved the limits of the lines so that the entire cut file fit the new size, and then cut it out of white cardstock.

While the cut file was being cut, I created the background using some VIcki Boutin acrylic paints and crayons.  But then decided to bring life to the white cardstock, and chose to apply a combination of gold and iridescent paste on top of the leaves.

To bring more of Spring to the page, i chose Maggie Holmes Flourish collection, and added a few of the IN BLOOM die cut images to back some of the large floral ephemera pieces.   A bit of vellum was used to back these florals which add to the softness of the page.

All the florals encase a picture of my sisters with my kids and my niece and nephew.   I just added a few embellishments and a title to this page, and call it done!

Just loved the final look of the page.   The die cuts are nicely accented by the colorful background and ephemera pieces.   Now if only Spring would show up!!
Remember to stop  by the JustNick Studio store to check these and the many new cut files available,
As always let me know if you have questions on how this came together.
See you all soon!

Life Captured

Scrapbook Layout created for JustNick Studio - LIFE CAPTURED -

Hello everyone!
Hope you all are enjoying the first day of March!  Nathalie with you today bringing you a Spring-inspired layout using a few of the beautiful JustNick Studio designs!

As happens many times, designs for pages change as they start taking shape and that is the case of this layout.  First the  Floral Swag 3 was cut from white card stock, and backed with papers from the new Maggie Holmes Flourish collection.    The original idea was to have  the flowers cascade from the top of the page, but once a bit of Vicki Boutin's art crayons was added to the wood grain paper, the orientation of the swag changed .

The cut out was attached using a bit of foam adhesive so that there is a soft shadow underneath it on the golden background.  The picture was then attached, and a small cluster was created to the top corner of it.

Once the picture was in place, the title was created using the Life  and Capture This cut files.   The words were then glued to the bottom of the page, and a small butterfly was then added to complete the title.

A few lines of journal and some gold ink splatters complete this page!  I could not be more pleased on how this page turned out, even when the design changed along the way!

Remember to stop by the JustNick Studio store to check these cut files and the new designs being added each week.   As always, I am a comment away if you have questions on how this came together.

Cuddles Time

Scrapbook Layout created for Citrus Twist Kits  - CUDDLES TIME -

Hi there!

It is a busy day in my blog!!

I am also up in the CTK blog for their new feature: Product Spotlight,  and this time the focus is the crochet thread that was included in the Cedar Grove Main Scrapbook kit.

As soon as Trina, mentioned that there will be crochet thread included in the kit, I had the idea of adding some crocheted elements to the page.  I am an avid crocheter, and this was the best way to add texture to the page.  My choice was to use the thread to opaque the pink color of the tag, and instead bring some of a more masculine tone to it by crocheting its edge.  I simply poked holes along the edge of the tag, and added a few lines of crochet using a small hook.  Then accented the look by tying the small charm that inspired this cut file.

I chose to keep the palette of this project fairly masculine so that i could document a picture of my husband with the little one.  So i picked most b sides from the papers included in this month's Cedar Grove Kits, and mixed them up with some light blue vellum.

I am not an alpha girl (though i own lots of them), but this ones are just a dream to work with, and had to make their way to the title of this page.  IF you are loving all this papers and add ons, then check the CITRUS TWIST KITS Cedar Grove Kits, this month's kits are to die for!!!

Here is the final layout.  I love the colors, and the textures in the page (i love that i could include some of my other crafty passions to the page). Remember to stop by the CTK blog to see what some of the DT was inspired to create using the crochet thread.

Have a great day!

My Girl!

Hi there!

Nathalie back with you all, bringing you a bit of inspiration using one of this month's digital cut files.   You can find all the digital files in the CTK Fans Page on Facebook.

The wreath file was inspired by the Flourish collection floral motifs include in this month's Cedar Grove kits.  The small branches in the wreaths are delicatee and soft, and can form the perfect background for all the florals in the collection.

If you have seen my work before, then you know, I love wreaths, but this time i used a combination of them to creaete a vertical design for my page.  To emphasize the softness of the wreath, a piece of the Always paper from Flourish collection, and stitch it to a piece of white cardstock.

Once the three small wreaths were glued to the page.  I added the picture of my baby girl inside the middle wreath.  To keep the romantic look of  the page, i layered a piece of the music sheet to the picture, and fussy cut ( my favorite floral) from the 6x8 paper from the Flourish collection included in the PL kit. to create the clusters around the picture.

A few lines of ephemera, and little sentiments from the stamp sets complete this page.  I just love how this all came together.
Remember to stop by the CTK Fans Page on Facebook for your copy of this month's files.  I cannot wait what you create with the files and this month's Cedar Grove Kits!

Loving You

Scrapbook Layout created for Citrus Twist Kits  -  LOVING YOU -

Hi there!

Today i am on the Citrus Twist Kits  blog with the Sunday Sketch challenge.   This time, I tried my best to stay true to the sketch, but with such lovely Cedar Grove Kits, it was difficult not to add more to the page. Here is the sketch:

I started by creating the background using some Distress oxides and a bit of water, followed by a large cut -out  (to replace the vertical paper layer from the sketch).    A bit of embroidery floss was used to wrap parts of the flower and add texture to the page.

While that completely dried,  I started working with the pictures and the layers behind them.   For this, I chose to use papers from both Main and Pattterned Paper kits, and pieces of ephemera ftom the main kit

There are so many cute little pieces included in the kit, that i had to add them to the layers of the page.   Next i used the stamp to add some sentiments around the page.

To create the title, and because i am madly in love with this alpha set, i used a combination of the large and small alphas to spell my sentiment, followed by a few lines of journal just like in the sketch.

Finally a few drops of rose gold water down glaze, and some pink droplets finish this page:

i love the look of the page, though it was a challenge for me to create, since I cannot truly follow a sketch, and it uses multiple pictures.

Remember to stop by the Citrus Twist Kits blog to check the post, and to join in the challenge.

Let me know if you have questions on how this came together,

take care!
