Currently Loving TODAY

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd - CURRENTLY LOVING TODAY -

Hi there,

It is time to share some inspiration for Scrapbook Nerd, and what better way than to bring color to a page by using mixed media and layers.

I started by playing with some distress oxides to create the background.  I had an idea of where everything would be place, so i just used the packaging technique to add splatters of colors to the page.

Since I chose a picture of my nephew in one of our walks, I kept the palette rather masculine.  While the background dried, I played with papers and ephemera pieces from the Good Vibes collection to create the layers behind the picture.  Finally added a pom pom trim to the front of the page to frame just the portion of the picture where my nephew is located.

I had fun creating layers, and took advantage of the colors in the picture to add the layers. Once it was all set, it all was glued to the mixed media background.  Just loved the pop of yellow on the layers.

To complete the page, I pulled the large chipboard words from Dear Lizzy, and matched it with the stamp sentiment from the Good Vibes collection.  Next i stressed the page a bit, and added more stamped sentiments   Here is the final layout:\

This page was so easy to put together, and so fun to see all the color in the page. Just love it all.

I hope this serves as inspiration in time for the weekend.   Remember to check Scrapbook Nerd for all the materials used in this page.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Take care!!

#Relax

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd   - #RELAX -

Hi There!

It has been a rather quiet week for me... Well it happens to be March Break/Spring Break here in Toronto, so I am enjoying the time with my kids (they are both home), and it happens that my schedule was free at the same time, a win win situation.   But i couldn't go with out sharing a few projects scheduled for this week.

This page was  created for Scrapbook Nerd, and it features Crate Paper's  Good Vibes collection, and a bit of Vicki Boutin magic.   For this page, I started with some Vicki Boutin crayon and a stencil brush to add that golden shadow in the background.

Next, i used a cut file from the Silhouette Store to create the large floral cut outs for this page.    All the colorful papers from the collection were then used to back the cut outs,

A bit of foam adhesive props the cut outs from the page.   The picture was then attached to the page surrounded by the cut outs.  Just a few details were needed to finish this page (all come from  the collection).  I am a stamp fanatic, and the one that comes in this collection is perfect to add some sentiments (with gold ink) around the clusters in this page.   Here is the final layout:

I love how this page turned out.   The soft art crayon background creates that soft glow behind the colorful pictures, which are the perfect complement to a picture of my daughter and niece just chilling on the couch!.

Remember to stop by Scrapbook Nerd to check all the materials used in this page.  There are so many new goodies arriving daily, so check them out.

I am always a comment away if you have questions on how this came together!

Cuddles Time

Scrapbook Layout created for Citrus Twist Kits  - CUDDLES TIME -

Hi there!

It is a busy day in my blog!!

I am also up in the CTK blog for their new feature: Product Spotlight,  and this time the focus is the crochet thread that was included in the Cedar Grove Main Scrapbook kit.

As soon as Trina, mentioned that there will be crochet thread included in the kit, I had the idea of adding some crocheted elements to the page.  I am an avid crocheter, and this was the best way to add texture to the page.  My choice was to use the thread to opaque the pink color of the tag, and instead bring some of a more masculine tone to it by crocheting its edge.  I simply poked holes along the edge of the tag, and added a few lines of crochet using a small hook.  Then accented the look by tying the small charm that inspired this cut file.

I chose to keep the palette of this project fairly masculine so that i could document a picture of my husband with the little one.  So i picked most b sides from the papers included in this month's Cedar Grove Kits, and mixed them up with some light blue vellum.

I am not an alpha girl (though i own lots of them), but this ones are just a dream to work with, and had to make their way to the title of this page.  IF you are loving all this papers and add ons, then check the CITRUS TWIST KITS Cedar Grove Kits, this month's kits are to die for!!!

Here is the final layout.  I love the colors, and the textures in the page (i love that i could include some of my other crafty passions to the page). Remember to stop by the CTK blog to see what some of the DT was inspired to create using the crochet thread.

Have a great day!

Good Vibes

Scrapbook Layout created for Citrus Twist Kits  - GOOD VIBES -

Hey there!

Nathalie and Kathleen with you today to bring you this week's Sketch Challenge. First let me show you the sketch we are using as inspiration for our pages:

And here is my take on this sketch using the beautiful Sugarland main kit, embellishment kit, and By The Numbers Stamp set:

As you can see, I chose to follow the sketch with a few modifications to document a picture of my daughter and her zing for life.

I love large picture layouts, so i decided to replace the large negative space of the sketch with a blown-up picture, and then added the title on to the white space in the picture.

I chose be true to the sketch, and kept the small cluster at the top left corner of the page,  but just added a few more pieces to balance the layout.

To finish my page, I recreated the picture cluster from the sketch but used pieces of ephemera from the Main Kit and the Emhellishment kit  instead of the photographs.   You can say I stayed true to the sketch with a small twist!

I love how easy this page was to put together using the sketch, and this month's colorful and versatile Sugarland Kits.

Cannot wait to see how you interpret the sketch!

XOXO,

Nathalie.

Awesome Life Antics

Scrapbook Layout created for Citrus Twist Kits  -  AWESOME LIFE ANTICS  -

Hi there!

Today, I want to share with you all a new layout created using  this month's Citrus Twist Kits Sugarland Kits.   The kits this month are so beautiful that they have pretty much sold out!.     Trina does a great job curating this awesome kits.

This page was created using a Studio Calico cut file.  To back the cut out, all the washi tapes from the All The Good Things collection from Vicki Boutin (my boss) were attached to a piece of paper, and then used to back the "X" space.  The "O was backed with a paper from the kit.

The picture was then framed with the beautiful pom pom frames from Crate Paper.  And just a few embellishments were used around the entire layout, as there is so much going on the cut itself.

One of my favorite things from all the CTK kits are the stamps and exclusives, and i used some of them to create part of the title of this page.   Here is the complete page:

This page took no time to put together (just the hand stitching took a bit longer), but i love the end result.   The textures, colors, and overall look bring the picture of my kids to focus.   The following video will give you a more in-depth look on how this page came together:

I hope you are inspired by the project.  If you have not checked Citrus Twist Kits, then just click here to be taken to the website.  The kits are amazing (and wait to see what is coming in February!!)   Remember I am always a comment away if you have questions on how this came together.

Take care!!!

My Personal Journal - Week 3

Hey there!

Hope you all had a great weekend!   We are gearing towards the end of January already.   Suddenly everything is becoming pink and red, indications that February (and Valentine's Day) is around the corner.    Luckily, I am still on track with my daily journal, and here are this week's entries

I am using all my PL kits from Citrus Twist Kits and Studio Calico to complete the entries.   In addition, I am using all my CTK stamps along with Pinkfresh Studio and Studio Calico.

This week, I couldn't limit my days to a single picture, so I decided to create inserts and tip ins to    complete some of the entries on my TN

I hope you are also capturing and documenting your days, and still keeping my fingers crossed, that i keep up with my daily entries.

Till next time,

Nathalie

Happy Weekend Vibes

Scrapbook Layout created for Citrus Twist Kits  - HAPPY #WEEKEND VIBES-

Hi there!

Nathalie with you today for a new 3-to-Inspire!  This time i am using the beautiful "Sugarland" Main Scrapbook kit only for the challenge.

My three prompts for this week are:
-  Use tags
-  Use a inks/paint/watercolor
-  Document a picture of you/selfie

This month's "Sugarland" kit is packed with color!, so what better way to make the colors pop than a neutral contrasting background.  A bit of  black acrylic paint -sparingly applied to the white cardstock-  is the perfect background for all the color found in the papers and ephemera pack.

I chose  to document this picture of my kids and I on the first large snow fall of winter (it is beautiful to walk under falling snow!!).   Converting the picture to black and white ensures that it will pop from all the color, but will balance the background at the same time.

The picture was then backed with some of the papers from the kit, and then layered with some of the large tags that are included in the ephemera pack.   There is so much to chose from, and it all coordinates so well, that it makes it so easy to put a page together.  A  few splatters of paint and stamped sentiments complete this page.  The following video will give you a more in depth look at how this page came together:

I hope that you are all inspired to take on this week challenge.   Remember to follow this week's prompts, and then share your finished project with today's date on the title on the CTK gallery or CTK Fan Page on Facebook.  I cannot wait to see what you create with these prompts.

Have a great week!!!
