Shine

Scrapbook Layout created for the Vicki Boutin Design Team  - SHINE -

Hi there!

Today's project is for the Vicki Boutin DT, and i wanted to create a clean and delicate masculine page by combining some of the mediums and all the gorgeous papers from the ALL THE GOOD THINGS Collection.

The background of the page was created by splattering water down acrylic paint in a triangular shape to the page.   Then a bit of Gold glaze was added using one of the stencils, so that it creates those little rows of gold circles.

To continue the triangular shape of the page, papers from the "ALL THE GOOD THINGS" collection were trimmed and glued to continue the angular shape, even a little strip of washi tape was added to elongate one of the sides of the design.   All the embellishments in the collection were then scattered along the paper layers and picture just to marry all the colors in the page.

For the title of this page, I simply added one of the glitter foam thickers so that it completes the triangular shape of the page.   Finally to complete the page, a few lines of journal were added to one of the sides of the triangle.  Here is the completed layout:

I love how easy and simple this page turned out.   The mixed media background is soft and delicate but colorful  enough to frame the picture of my 2 boys. I hope you try this.  Here is more in depth look on how this page came together:

Remember to check all of Vicki's "ALL THE GOOD THINGS" collection , you will fall in love with it all!

Take care!!!

Love Song

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  -  LOVE SONG  -

Hi there!

Hope you are all doing well!

Today, I am up on the Scrapbook Nerd blog with a  new entry for the Silhouette Savvy Series. This time, I wanted to show you a few simple commands that will aid in creating a one-of-a-kind cut out.  Just click here to be redirected to the site.

I used the colors in the floral motifs of the Simple Stories' Romance collection as the inspiration to create my own marble paper using watercolor and Yupo transluscent paper.

This was used to back the cut-out  created for this page. The floral motifs were then used to create clusters around the picture of my husband and I, as well as to form the visual triangle in the page.

A few lines of journal, and some extra ink splatters complete this page. The design is simple and clean.  The cut out shines with the addition of the marble paper, and all the small clusters complete the page.

I love this page, and I hope it inspires you a bit, too.  If you would like a more in-depth  look on how this page was put together, just watch the following video:

remember I am a comment away if you have questions on how this came together.

Take care!

My PERSONAL JOURNAL - Week 4

Hi there!

It is looking a lot like February is about to arrive!   I hope you are taking the time to document your everyday or special moments in your life.  Tell your story as only you can!

Here are my entries from the past week:

I am using my Citrus Twist Kits PL and main kits as well as their lovely stamps to create most of the entries in these pages.

I am trying to keep up with an entry a day.  I simply print the picture, and write my journal of the day, and wait for the next day to embellish the pages, so that they coordinate, or chose to create an entire layout for each day!

I hope this inspires you to start documenting your life.  Remember to contact me with any questions.

see you all next week!

Sweet Things

Scrapbook Layout created for Vicki Boutin DT  -  SWEET THINGS -

Hi there!
So glad to see you here!   Today, I want to share with you all a new layout that celebrates all things girly from the “All The Good Things” collection.

This page started with a watercolor background created using the warm color Art Crayon set.   First one of the foundation papers was prepped with some gesso.  Then, the background was created by adding some diluted art crayons using some of the water brushes and a piece of acetate (just like in the popular “Packaging” technique).  A few splatters of diluted Gold Glaze medium complete the background.

While the background dried completely,   all the flower embellishment of the page were created by stamping the flower images (all 3 sizes of them) onto Mixed Media paper with Archival ink.  The coordinating dies are a great and fast way to create individual images of the flowers.   A bit of color was then added to the flowers using the same Art Crayon set from the background.

Once everything was dried properly, all the flowers and fussy cut stamped leaves were glued in clusters that framed the picture.   A third cluster was then added to the top corner of the page (to complete a visual triangle).

Now it comes to embellishing the page using “All The Good Things” goodies.   There was so much to choose from, but I kept it simple so that the background, flowers and picture shine harmoniously in the page.   Just a few enamel dots, cardstock stickers, and a title created using a combination of both foam and alpha thickers.   Did I forget to mention that the paper clip embellishments can easily become die cuts when you trim the bottom / paper clip part of them.

This page is filled with “All The Good Things” goodies, and I love it.   To see how this page came, just sit and enjoy the following video:

That is all for me today.  Till next time!

Good Vibes

Scrapbook Layout created for Citrus Twist Kits  - GOOD VIBES -

Hey there!

Nathalie and Kathleen with you today to bring you this week's Sketch Challenge. First let me show you the sketch we are using as inspiration for our pages:

And here is my take on this sketch using the beautiful Sugarland main kit, embellishment kit, and By The Numbers Stamp set:

As you can see, I chose to follow the sketch with a few modifications to document a picture of my daughter and her zing for life.

I love large picture layouts, so i decided to replace the large negative space of the sketch with a blown-up picture, and then added the title on to the white space in the picture.

I chose be true to the sketch, and kept the small cluster at the top left corner of the page,  but just added a few more pieces to balance the layout.

To finish my page, I recreated the picture cluster from the sketch but used pieces of ephemera from the Main Kit and the Emhellishment kit  instead of the photographs.   You can say I stayed true to the sketch with a small twist!

I love how easy this page was to put together using the sketch, and this month's colorful and versatile Sugarland Kits.

Cannot wait to see how you interpret the sketch!

XOXO,

Nathalie.

Snow Fun

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories - SNOW FUN -

Hello Simple Stories Friends and Fans!

We are in the middle of Winter here in Canada, so what better way to warm up those cold days, than a bit of inspiration using the super fun "SUB ZERO" collection.

The designs, and colors in the papers in the "SUB ZERO" collection are so bright and fun, so what better way to showcase them all, than to create a large title  -using a few cut files from the Cut Shoppe-.   And to bring more winter to the page, a bit of extra winter (as in Vicki Boutin's Iridescent glaze and a snowflake stencil) on the background.

To bring a bit more fun, and playfulness to the page.  Small clusters of ephemera and stickers were added around the title, and in clusters around the picture of my nephew while playing in the snow!.  Gotta love all those fun elements in the SUB ZERO collection!

I hope this inspires you to check the "SUBZERO" collection.   The fun and colorful designs will bring a bit of happiness to those cold Winter days.

That is all for me!

XOXO

LUCKY ME

Scrapbook Layout created for Vicki Boutin DT  - LUCKY ME -

Hi There!

I am so excited to share my first post as member of the Mixed Media Makers for Vicki Boutin.   Our assignment was to work with products of the new "All The Good Things" collection that spoke to us.  Well there is so much to chose from, that it was hard to chose just one!

I love color, so what better way to show it than by using a rainbow as a  background for a layout.  I started by adding gesso to one of the foundation papers.  This ensures that the mediums flow nicely on the paper, and prevents the paper from buckling.

The  acrylic paints are very pigmented, so  a little bit goes a long way when applying them onto paper.  Since I am using a cut file (from the Silhouette Store), I backed each of the letters of the title with papers from the 7x10 paper pad, and then matched the strokes and paint color to the letter and its size.     To finish the painted look of the background, droplets of color were added by diluting the paint with water, and then sprinkling them on top of the paint strokes.

A bit of foam adhesive brings the title forward, and creates that soft shadow on the background.   I chose to add a few embellishments around each one of the letters in the title.   There are so many pieces to chose from, but my favorite are the watercolor stickers!  Having the freedom to add the color of your choice to the stickers makes your project a one-of-a-kind!

The picture documented in this page is our first family selfie of the year.   A few pieces of the frames serve as layers behind the picture.  But then let’s talk about the stickers from the “All Good Things” collection.  Loved the sayings Vicki has added, and perfect to add the sentiment of this page.  To finish the page, I simply added a few stamped sentiments   on the paint strokes using matching colors of ink from the Color Wheels, and then a few lines of journal.

I love the how easy it was to combine all the colors and embellishments to create what will be the first page of our 2018 album.  The next video will show you a more in-depth look on how this ppage came together:

Well that is all for me today!.  Don't forget to check All The Good Things collection, and all the mixed media products, too

As always, let me know if you have questions on how this came together.

Take care!
