Shine

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories  - SHINE -

Hi there!  Nathalie with you today, and I am so excited to share with you a new layout that celebrates all those girly dreams of fairies and rainbows.   The new Dream Big  collection is filled with all rainbows, butterflies, fairies, mermaids, and unicorns just every little girl  and woman's dream.

For this page, I wanted to play with colors in the collection, so i used a Paige Evans cut file to recreate a rainbow for the background.

A paper from the High Style pad was used for the background,  a bit of white acrylic paint was added as to form a cloudy sky

A few layers of papers from the Dream Big collection were used to back the picture.  Just love all the patterns and colors in the collection!!!

To embellish the page, I placed a few of the fairy stickers, from the Dream Big collection, so that they formed a visual triangle on the page.   Stickers, die cuts and the new puffy stickers were added around each of the fairies so that they pop from the page.

Just love all the puffy stickers in the Dream Big collection, all the stars work so nicely around the clouds and rainbow in this page.

This layout was a joy to put together, all the icons and papers in the DREAM BIG collection are sure to bring a smile to your face.   I cannot wait to see what you all create with this new Simple Stories collection.

XO

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - GRATEFUL FOR YOU -

Hi there! This week, we have asked the DT to showcase the beautiful Pink Paislee's "Auburn Lane" collection in their projects.   This collection has a fall color palette, modern designs, and some beautiful floral illustrations that are perfect to embellish a page.   The secret is to fussy cut each of the floral images so that they can be used as decorations in your page.

The floral images on  paper #3 and #6 of the collection were carefully cut (fussy cut) so that they can be used as layered embellishments that form a large cluster of flowers in the  page.

The secret to creating this embellishments is to detail cut the images from the paper.   In this case, paper #3  has a dark background, so each image was cut around its edge, so that none of the dark background shows in the image.  At the same time, paper #6 has a white background, so a very small white border was left around the image - this just helps to separate the images when layering them on the layout.  The following process video will showcase how this page came together:

All those fussy cut florals are the focal point of this page, and bring plenty of interest to the layout that minimizes the use of other embellishments.

Really love how this page turned out using the large fussy cut floral elements.   All the florals create the perfect background for this cherished memory of my family.
I hope this inspires you to create your own embellishments by fussy cutting embellishments off your patterned papers.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions on how this came together,  Remember to check all the materials used in this page at Scrapbook Nerd.

 Take care,

Do Good, Dream, LOVE, Sparkle

Hi there!  Nathalie with this week's 3-to-Inspire.   The newly released "Perfectly Posh" kits are so gorgeous, and packed with so many goodies, it was so easy to pick three prompts to inspire this week's' project.  Here are the prompts:

  • Incorporate the Maggie Holmes Crepe Fringe
  • Add butterflies
  • Use fussy cut elements

This is how i combined the prompts in this project:

First, the background was created using a combination of the liquid watercolors from Pinkfresh Studio available at the shop.  I used Aquamarine, Blue Sky, Bubble Gum, and Yellow to create the watercolor look on the background. Make sure you check the watercolors at the store, they are so easy to work with ;)

While the background dried, i used papers from the "Perfectly Posh" Scrapbook kit to back the letters in the cut file/title - this cut file is available at the CTK store for free-, as well as to add layers behind the picture.  In addition, i took some time to fussy cut a few of the flowers from the Simplicity paper from PinkFresh Studio included in the kit.

A bit of foam adhesive was used to attached the title to the page, next i tucked the picture of my kids at the top corner of the title, and started to embellish the layout using all the fussy cut flowers, pieces from the cut apart page -available for free at the CTK store- as well as stickers and washi tape from  the embellishment kit.

Lately, i have been creating pages with  hidden details, so i decided to use some of the crepe fringe as part of my peek-a-boo element in this page.   For this, i cut a piece of the Pinkfresh Studio Simplicity paper.  Next, i carefully glued the the fringe at about half an inch from the edge of the piece of paper, then trim the excess fringe. Since i wanted to have a long piece of fringe at the bottom layer, i continue to glue the fringe next to each other until the entire bottom edge of the paper was covered.  Then used a different color of the fringe just to add an extra layer above the one just glued.

The paper with the fringe was glued to the bottom of the page.  Here i carefully distress the bottom edge of the cardstock so that the fringe border would show, and decided to add a butterfly from the foam stickers included in the "Perfectly Posh"kit to bring the eye to this detail.   So a few more butterflies around the page just bring the page together.

A few  stamped sentiments from the kit's stamp, and the "So Very You" Traveller's Notebook Stamp complete the title, and add a few more details on the page.

Love how this page turned out.  This month's kits, add ons, digital files are amazing, so it made this page a true joy to put together.  And now it is your turn to use this week's prompts to create a page of your own.   Remember to share your finished projects on the Citrus Twist Kits Fan Page on Facebook or on social media (tag us using #citrustwistkits).  I cannot wait to see what you create with the prompts and all the August kits (they are so gorgeous!!)
