Scrapbook Layout created for  The Cut Shoppe  - #BESTIES -

Hello everyone,  

I am back on the Cut Shoppe blog this week, with this layout that combines some of my favourite things:  cut files, stitching, and black & white pictures.   Here  is  small video on how the layout came together after the stitching was finalized:

When Ashley send the Design team, the new cut files coming to the store, I knew that the Oodles of Doodles will become one of my favorite cutfiles.   This time, I chose to use the curl shape to create the background for this layout.  I welded a few of the curls together, and used the sketch pens to draw them on white cardstock.  An offset was added to make sure all the curls were cut in one single image.  I used my paper piercer to create the holes of my stitching guide, and used a few hours of Netflix to stitch away.

I used thread that matched the colors in Pink Paislee's Fancy Free collection.

For my title, I used the Friends Forever cut file, and some gold glitter paper to cut the "#", "BESTIES", and "heart" shapes.  I double cut the word and #, and glued the two cut-outs together.

I used the heart shape cut-outs as part of the ephemera clusters around the picture.  

After adding a few details around the page, i chose to write my journal around the entire shape of the cut-out.  Here is the final layout:

Hello everyone,

I hope you all are enjoying the last days of summer vacation.  We are starting to ready all our stuff and lives for a new school year.  Particularly, I have been trying to also put a dent in my paper stash (since I have a lot of new collections on pre-order that soon will be arriving).   At the same time, one of my cousins recently had a baby girl, and i had to create a layout to capture the moment, please enjoy the video on how the layout came together...

I am trying to use as much of Pink Paislee's Fancy Free collection, so I have chosen two of the papers to complete this project.   First I cut up all the beautiful flowers out of paper #9, and created a flower cascade along the one side of the page.

the flowers were added with different glue and foam dots to add layers and dimension on the page.

Before gluing everything down, I used my Cameo  to create the title for this page.  Once the title was stitched, I proceed to color the words using some shimmer watercolors.

This picture was taken a few days after she was born, and was captured using a cell phone.  I chose to work with Adobe Lightroom to clean up the image.  I chose to add just a few pieces of ephemera  around the picture...

Finally, I added just  a few notes on how it feels to be a long distance ncousin/aunt at the bottom of the page, along with some  other small details.  Here is the final layout...

I love how the papers worked on this page,  it took very little effort to put together.

Hi there!,

 As my reveal week continues, I am bringing you a layout that has a bit of me, and a lot of my son's ideas in it...  Yes!  I chose to scrapbook along with my teenage son (I know it sounds weird, and yes it wasn't easy!)since this is his picture, and the only memory we have of his Grade 9 High school retreat.

I am drawn to large titles, and since the picture is full of color, I have chosen to use the Cut Shoppe's Open Letter Alpha cutfile to create the title.  I backed the letters with Amy Tangerine's Better Together collection papers.

This title uses a lot of the project's area.

Before gluing down the title, a small amount of whipped spackle mixed with Liquitex Teal acrylic Ink was applied to  the mat (Pink Paislee's Fancy Free collection paper) using a cross stencil from Heidi Swapp collection.

I added the picture  layered with pieces of paper from the Amy Tangerine collection and cut-outs , created using the May Mash-Up cut file from the Cut Shoppe-.  A few clusters were added around the page to create interest on the picture.   Finally I added a few lines of journal and some final details.  Here is the completed layout:

I had fun creating this layout, and following some of the ideas my son had...  I hope this inspires to use a large title as a focus point on your layouts.

Card sketch for Scrapbook Nerd's Creative Summer Camp 2016

Hello everyone!

I hope you all are enjoying the weekend.  It is a long weekend here in Toronto, since we are celebrating Canada's Day on July 1st.   WIth all this time available, I have been putting it to good use working on my assigments for August, and joining in the challenges over at http://scrapbooknerd.com/ creative On-line summer camp.  

The first challenge was to create a layout following a given sketch.  I chose to follow the card sketch by creating a mixed media background.

Using the new Everyday Essentials cut file from  The Cut Shoppe,  I cut different size circles and backed the cut out using papers from Pink Paislee's Fancy Free collection.  They were attached to the page following the direction of the sketch.

I did not deviate much from the sketch, and added my picture, title and ephemera cluster in the place were the sentiment would have been located.

I added a few more details, date and journal lines before calling the page finished.   Here is the completed layout.

I really like how the page turned out, and how easy it came together once I followed the sketch.

a glimpse of the layout

Hello all!,

I hope you all are enjoying the beautiful weather outside,  it certainly  feels like summer here in Toronto.  I can't believe we are at the end of June already, and i am still scrapping my pictures from this spring.  

Today, I am adding a new layout created using mainly Paige Evans' Fancy Free collection (it was hard to find all the pieces of the collection, but i managed to snatch most of the papers and a few add ons).  I had pictures of my daughter and Tiana (my "soccer niece") laughing and hiding their faces from the camera lens.   Though I took the picture in April, it was so cold that day, that i chose to convert the picture to black and white to use color as a background.

The cutfile works perfect to add color to the background.

Using the May Mash Up cut file from The Cut Shoppe,  I enlarge this cutout and shear it by 15 degrees.  I backed the cut-out with different papers from the collection, and attached it to the page with some foam dots.

The picture was attached with a large thick piece of foam behind it.   Small clusters of ephemera from the Fancy Free collection, and Jillibean Soup Healthy Hello add interest to the picture.

Fot the title,  the Open Letter cutfile from The Cut Shoppe -one of my favorite cut files ever- adds lots of space to add more color to the layout.

Finally I added my journal lines along the edge of the circle cut file.  A few last minute touches (stickers and flair) complete the layout.

It was fun and super easy layout to bring together...
