HERE & NOW - Scrapbook Nerd

Hello there!

This week the DT at Scrapbook Nerd is working projects that document Travels and Summer.  I pulled the beautiful Sunny Days collection and a cut file from Handipaper to create a page all about my daughter's first trip to LA a few years back.

Lately, i have been loving non white backgrounds, this time I pulled a light blue cardstock for the background and added and extra splash of color (a bit too much, i think) using some white paint and Jane Davenport's Mermaid Markers.

While the background dried,  i used a cut file from Handipaper to create the seashell wreath cut out for the page.  I backed each image with papers from the Maggie Holmes' Sunny Days collection, and even added  a bit of extra color to some of the images using the markers.

Once the background was completely dried, i used a bit of foam adhesive to attach the cut out to the layout.   The pictures were then backed with pieces from the large alpha cards from the collection; these too were attached to the page followed with a series of fussy cut shells and embellishments.

I clustered most of the embellishments at the lower part of the page surrounding the pictures.   Then added the title of the page at the top of the wreath.  I wanted to mark the location of the pictures in the page, so i used mini alphas at at the end of the seashell cluster.   I made sure to leave plenty of empty space under the title for my daughter's lines of journal.  Here is the final layout:

Love how this page came together, and all the colors in the page.   I am sure my daughter will cherish this page, and will be able to add her memories on the page.

EXPLORE BARE FEET - Scrapbook Nerd

Hi there!
Today i am up on the Scrapbook Nerd YouTube channel and mine with a new layout all about my  daughter's love for walking bare feet on grass.    For this, i pulled a cut file from Handipaper and the entire Sunny Days collection.

A  bit of white acrylic paint was added to the background, just behind the area where the  picture and layers of paper would sit, followed by splatters of paint and gold ink.  Once this dried, layers of different patterned papers  from the collection were added behind the picture.

A bit of foam adhesive creates the dimension behind the picture and the cut out ( i chose not to back the cut out so that it compliments the picture and becomes part of the background).   Some of the embellishments were clustered to frame the picture or as layer behind the picture.  A few fussy cut flowers were added under the cut out -as if coming from behind the layers and picture- thus elongating the design and guiding your eye to the title of the page.

For the title, i combined puffy stickers from the Sunny Days collection with mini alphas from Pink Paislee's whimsical collection.  A few more embellishments, gold splatters and a few lines of journal complete this page.

Love how this turned out, and how easy it came together, even when i started with no plan in mind.  The following video will show you how the layout was created:

SUMMER VIBES - Citrus Twist Kits

Hi there!

Nathalie with you today with a new scrapbook layout.   I don't know  about you, but this month's kits and stamps are so versatile that all it took was a bit of mixed media to pull this page together:

I picked the new Maggie Holmes - Sunny Days - Acrylic paint set from the CTK shop cause i knew they would easily combined with all the papers from this month's kits.  For this page, i used the blue and teal paint to create the background of the page.

Once the background dried, i used an edge punch (Scallop lace from EK Tools) to create two strips of paper from the Add-on kit.  Since my daughter is wearing blue in the picture, i chose to use colors that match those tones.   Once the strips were stitched to the page, it was all about layering papers from the Make It a Venti and add on behind the picture.

To soften the blue tones of the page, i chose to bring a little bit of pink details in the fussy cut flowers and butterflies (add on kit).  Then used embellishments from the Add on Kit and cut apart elements to create clusters around the picture.

To finish the page, i combined stickers from the add on kit and the Make it A Venti Alphas as well as some stamping using blue ink and this month's Add on Stamp.  The following video will show you how it all came together.

Though the mixed media is just peaking from behind all the layers of paper and embellishments, i love how it sets the mood for the page.   Remember you can always contact me if you have questions, and stop by the Citrus Twist Kits shop to check the kits and all the coordinating goodies that arrive each month.
