Nathalie with you today, and it has been a long and cold winter here in Canada,and Spring is slowly showing up. So, instead of waiting around for Spring to finally catch up, i decided to pull a few memories from last year's season to create this page using a few of the beautiful JustNick Studio cut files.
I wanted something really light and airy for this layout, so i started with the Type It Alpha cut file to create the large vertical title. I welded the letters together, and cut them out of white cardstock.
To back the title, i chose to use the negative part of the cut out, and vellum for every other letter. A bit of foam adhesive helps to create the dimension on the letters, and make them stand out.
I used a ball tool to curl the edges of the flowers a bit, and then used a pencil to help me start the rolling process for this flowers, and then took out the pencil and continue rolling them together. A bit of hot glue at the center of the flower holds the rolled flower together. I added a matching enamel dot to the center of the flower to hide the hot glue.
I glued the flowers around the picture and title of this page, but added a few leaves made from the Stems cut file from white cardstock. A few extra embellishments -all from the SCT Spring Fling kit- complete this page.

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories - FREEZIN' WINTER SEASON -
Hello Simple Stories friends and fans!
Nathalie with you today to celebrate the arrival of Winter (here in the Northern Hemisphere) with a colorful and fun layout using the beautiful Simple Stories new line Freezin' Season. Though, Toronto-Canada has yet to get some snow, i have so many memories of snowfalls past, and the colors in the collection were perfect to bring the fun of Winter to my scrapbook album.
To start, a bit of white acrylic paint was added to the Hello Winter paper -this hazes the pattern in the background, while creating a whiter canvas for the layout-. While the paint dried, the"Winter" cut file (from Paige Evans) was cut from white cardstock, and backed with papers from the Freezin' Season collection.
The cut out was placed on a slant on the background, so that it adds playfulness to the page. The picture was backed with papers from the collection ( the element pages are a great to layer and back pictures!), and then it was nestled in between the background and the cut out.
Since the picture shows my niece holding a snowball, i decided to continue the circle motive throughout the page. For this all the circle snowflake embellishments from the collection were used to create clusters around the picture, along with some die cuts and stickers. Love all the colors!
To complete the title of the page, a cluster of snowflake embellishments was created at the top left corner of the cut out. Here the the "Freezin'" chipboard was added. In a similar manner the "Season" chipboard sticker was added at the opposite -diagonally- corner of the cut out, so that the title reads "Freezin' Winter Season".
Those circle snowflakes were perfect to create clusters around the layout. Some were tucked under the cut out, while others are floating on the page along with sticker words and embellishments from the collection. Just a few lines of journal and some white ink were the final touches of this page.

Nathalie with you today with a new layout all about my newly High School graduate (insert crying emoji here!). I wanted to create something a bit different to document my son after graduating, so I searched the JustNick Studio store for the perfect cut files, and here is the result.
I wanted to create a large title that served as the background for the page, so I pulled the All Boy cut file to create the words in the title out of white cardstock.
Before laying down the title, i used a bit of Distress inks to add some mixed media on the background. I wanted to play with the color of the graduating cap and my son's shirt.
While the background dried, the empty letter spaces in the cut out were backed using papers from the Pop Quiz collection from Bella Blvd.The colors are a perfect contrast to the background.
The title was attached to the background using different heights of foam adbesive, so that there is dimension on the layout. Then just a few extra embellishments were neded to complete this page.
Love how this turned out. The colors and large title are perfect for that picture of my son as a graduate.

Hi there!
A new term for JustNick studio is starting this month. I am so blessed to continue for another term working with Nicole's cut files. So to mark the first post of the new term, we were asked to create pages about us. My choice is to have a picture of me at my happiest place, behind the camera!
My idea was to create a series of frames that are staggered along the vertical line of the layout, so I started by adding small blocks of watercolor (Distress Oxides) to mark the place where each frame will land.
The Infinity Hearts cut file was used to creat all the frames in the background. These were attached to the page with some foam adhesive so that it brings dimension to the page.
Once the picture was placed, a large title was cut from white cardstock using the New Words cut file. I chose to add a few layers of water-down gold glaze (Vicki Boutin) to bring shine to the page, and make the title pop.
I chose to use a few stickers and papers from Pebbles Patio Party colletion to back the layout and add movement to the page. Clear stickers from Mambi were added to each frame, along with gold hearts from Doodlebug.
Finally all the journal was added to the inside of one of the frames. All the color blocking created with the butterflies and stickers just need a bit of gold ink to be completed.

Hello Simple Stories friends and fans!
Nathalie with you today with a new project that is Spring on a page. I was so excited to be able to create some samples for Creativation this year, and this is one of them (that is why there is no journal lines on it yet!!!). That means I was one of the lucky ones who got to play with some of the new collections before they were released, and the new Bliss collection is one of the most beautiful ones i have seen. Just look at all that purple!!
It all started when i cut the triangles from the Live in the Moment paper from the collection. I wanted to take advantage of the angles to anchor my picture between them. So once i cut them, i carefully also cut some of the butterfly wings -using an exacto knife- so that they could be lifted of the page
Then i hand stitched the triangles to white cardstock, making sure to follow the lines of the wood grain of the paper design. To add more interest to the triangles, a few fussy cut butterflies were also stitched, through the center line, so that they form a flying path on the page.
I fell in love with the florals in this collection, so I fussy cut quite a bit of them from the Be Good, and Remember to Shine papers to create the clusters around the picture. All the fun embellishments (and the ones included in this collection are gorgeous) just help bring more sentiment to the page.
The title for this page (all about my niece's sweet smile, and love for the ipad) comes from the chipboard sticker set from the collection. Once i set the "Hello Sunshine" banner for the title, i quickly add another one at the top of the picture. The movement they create along with the butterflies is just what this layout needed.

Hello everyone!Nathalie with you today bringing you a new
project using some of Vicki’s new products.As soon as the new watercolor set and the watercolor paint brushes
arrived at my doorstep, I knew they will be featured in my next project. I love watercolors, and these are just like a
rainbow of possibilities.
One of the best ways
to showcase how easy it is to work with watercolor is to use them to color a
cut file.This particular cut file is
available for free at Scrapbook Nerd; and I wanted to use the watercolors to
add and detail each of the flowers in the cut out.
If you have never used
this type of watercolor (gouache) then you are in for a treat.These little tubes are highly pigmented
color, so a little bit of color will go a long way.I love using a palette whenever I work with
this type of watercolor, since you can contain the color in one spot, and when
the color dries, it is easier to reconstitute with a few drops of water.
I chose to play with a
variation of different shades of pink to color the flowers in the cut out.I started with some of the red, and added a
few sprinkles of yellow, brown, white to get the colors used in the flowers.Then worked the stems and leaves in a similar
pattern
The new brush set is
perfect to color and detail your projects.I chose to use the finest one to add color to the smallest buds at the
end of the stems in the cut out, and to detail a few of the lines at the end of
the leaves, and stems.
Once I lay the colored
cut outs on white cardstock, and realized they formed a nice curve when joined
together.The idea of creating a break
on the page quickly formed, and I chose to use one of the foundation papers to
create the background where the picture would be place.I used a bit of art crayons in light green
to add a soft watercolor look to the top corner of the page.Once it dried, I used the flower stencil, the
new stencil brushes to add a bit of detail to the watercolor background.I love this technique!It is one of the easiest ways to add mixed
media to a background.
Using a pencil, I
lightly drew the curve that the flowers formed on the B side of the Shine
Brightly paper, and cut it out.Then
used different papers from the 12x12 paper pad to back some of the flowers and
leaves.Some vellum was also used to
back a few of the flowers, so that it softens the look of the cut out.
Once the cut Shine
Brightly paper was glued to the foundation paper, a bit of foam adhesive was
used to attach the cut out to the page so that it adds dimension.Just a few small details – butterflies- from
the die cuts and paper clips were used to add a bit more interest to the cut
out.Since there is so much detail in the
flowers, a small cluster was also created at one of the corners of the
picture.The stickers in the collection
are perfect to add lots of sentiment to a page.Just love the stickers in the All The Good Things collection.
The glitter of the
word foam thickers are the ideal way to bring some shine to the page.I love how these thickers bring enough
shine to the page while conveying the sentiment of the layout.
I love how this page
turned out.The new watercolor set and
paintbrushes are just a new medium that will soon have you looking for ways to use
them in all your projects.I hope this

Hello CTK friends and fans! Nathalie with you today bringing you a project using this month's gorgeous LEMON DROP scrapbooking and Embellishment Kits.
When Trina shared with us what will be included in the LEMON DROP kit, I was so excited to receive it (and probably purchased all the add-ons) since i have a very large number of vacation pictures yet to be documented. But before, I continue on, let me show you what i created for this post:
The inspiration for this page was the color contrast between the Scenic View paper (from the Here and There collection from Crate Paper) and the rose gold tones in the ephemera both included in the main kit. So i decided to create a rather monochromatic simple look for this page that ensure the picture pops.

The background of this page was created using a bit of acrylic pain (Vicki Boutin) to match the color of the ephemera. Them to replicate the train rail, a bit of texture paste (Ranger) was used on top of the acrylic paint. The contrast in texture and color make all the pieces of ephemera and layers pop behind the picture.
The Lemon Drop kits are probably one of my favorites, yet! It was so easy to combine pieces from them to add sentiments and details around the page. Plus the stamp -included in the kit- is perfect to give a bit more details to the page. My final touch was creating the little fold to the page, and adding the flair that serves as the title for this page! Here is a video that showcases how the page came together:
I love how this page turned out! All the elements in the page work harmoniously to document one of our vacation memories ( about 5000 more to go!!!).
