My Personal Journal - CITRUS TWIST KITS

Hi there!
It is my first time creating a challenge in one of my favorite memory documenting formats, Traveler's Notebooks.  It is not secret, i  love TNs, and keep a daily visual journal of my everyday life, plus a few other side projects -all in TN formats-.   I love the format as it allows me to combine the graphic look of a scrapbook page, and the journal look of my dairies.

By now, some of you are receiving the Pleasant Valley Kits (aren't they gorgeous?!!!), well this month two new sets of stamps were also added to the store,  Spencer Alphabet and Spencer Alphabet outline.    I love the large font and clear look of the alphas, so i decided to used them to document some every day memories in my personal journal.

For the first entry, i decided first on a color combination that will make everything pop.   Then i used the Spencer Alpha stamp set to create the large title of this layout.

The impact of the title makes it one of the focus of the page, so i made sure that it told the story of the picture.

Love the colors in this month's Pleasant Valley PL kit, so it was easy to stay in the same color combo when adding the clusters around the picture. To finish this page, i added a few more stamping sentiments using the TN stamp set.    Any clues on what the challenge is, yet? Let me give you another hint.

For this page, I chose to tell the story by using the Spencer Alpha Outline Stamp set to create a large title.

To bring life into the page, stamped the title on different papers from the Pleasant Valley Scrapbook Kit, and then fussy cut around them, the font is so clean and crisp that it took no time to get this done.

The letters were then glued to form the large title, and this time i added stamped sentiments using this month's add-on stamp set.

How lucky  was i to find a few sunglassed  in the puffy stickers from the Goldenrot collection, included in this month's embellishment kit, they complete my title.  Since the story is told in the title, i just used one of the labels, from the Emerson collection stickers included in the main kit, and used it to hide the rest of the journal in a pocket behind the picture.

By now you have guessed this week's challenge:  CREATE A LARGE TITLE.  Use stamps, alphas, paper or the Spencer Alpha stamp sets to create titles that will tell the story of your page and create lots of impact on your pages.   Trust me it, once you build the title, 80% of your page is done.  So you will be able to produce them in no time!

Remember to share with us what you create with this challenge either on social media using @citrustwistkits or #citrustwistkits or on CTK friends page on Facebook.  I cannot wait how you interprete the challenge.

Go Live In Wonder

Scrapbook Layout created for Citrus Twist Kits  - GO LIVE IN WONDER -

Hi there!  It is time for a new Sunday Sketch over at Citrus Twist Kits.   For today's blog post, I joined Trina and Emma with my take on the sketch.

I love this month's Little Things scrapbook kit, so i chose to play with some of the papers in the kit to create the layers behind the pictures.

Since i wanted the crosses in the sketch to show in the design, i used some Pinkfresh Studio watercolors to create the background for this page on watercolor paper.

The blue almost purple backgroung was the perfect color to bring the details of the crosses.  For this i used an old Heidi Swapp stencil and some modeling paste.  While the paste dried, i fussy  cut some of the crosses from the Little Things Scrapbook Kit, and attached them to the background with some foam adhesive.

I changed the location of the journal lines with that of the title.  This time, I brought some of the gold accents to the wood piece included in the kit, and added a few die cuts and exclusive stamp images.

Love how this turned out, as the sketch was  a great building block for a page of your own.  Stop by Citrus Twist kits to check the other takes on the sketch and to check all the beautiful kits!!   AS always i am a comment away if you have questions on how this was put together.

Easter Memories

Scrapbook Layout created for Citrus Twist Kits  - EASTER MEMORIES -

Hey there!

Nathalie with you today with a new feature in the CTK blog, "Mixed Media".  What can i say?!  I love creating pretty messes for my pages, so when this new post became available in the schedule, i jumped at the opportunity.  Now what can be better than getting messy, you may ask!?!... well the mess is just a background to the beautiful papers and embellishments of this month's Savannah main and embellishment kits.

For this page, i created actually a very simple background.  In this case, i  had an idea on the layout of the page, so i used  a bit of black ink (distress ink and distress oxides stamping pads to be exact) to create the background.

I simply stamped the ink pad on some plastic and/or and acrylic block, and added some water to diluted, and then added to the page to create the background.   Along the way I added a few splatters of the ink to the background to just add to the messy look of it.

While the ink dried, I wanted to create a fun layout for this picture of some of my family after Easter dinner, so the idea of adding lots of color came to mind, and the wheels were the best way to add fun and dimension to the page.  For these i used papers from the main and Patterned Paper play  SAVANNAH kits  (love the vellum look!) , and then used the Pinkfresh Studio wooden buttons as the center of the pinnwheels.

Once the background dried, i added a  bit of texture and detail to it by running some white Whipped Spackle through a star stencil to the background.

Next I glued all the pin wheels along the vertical line of the page, and snuck the title in between the pinkwheels.  Then just added the picture (in a inverted T formation) to the background, and added a large cluster of ephemera so that it would balance the page.  A bit of journal and some stamped images complete the page.

Love how this turned out, and it was  so fun to get messy!  The colors in the papers from this month's Savannah kits are perfect to bring cheeriness to a page.   Here is a more in depth look at how this page was created:

I hope you are inspired to add a bit of mixed media to your pages!  Especially if you are using the fun colors and details of this month's SAVANNAH kits.  If you have questions on how this came together, do not hesitate to contact me!

Take care!,

Summer Time Love

Scrapbook Layout created for Citrus Twist Kits  - SUMMER TIME LOVE -

Hi there!

hope you all had a great Easter weekend.   It is April already, which means the new Savannah kit from Citrus Twist Kits has been revealed, and now you can see its complete beauty.  It is colorful, vibrant, and GORGEOUS

Today, I am up on the Citrus Twist Kits blog along Emma sharing pages created inspired on the kits's ephemera.  My choice was to start with a bit of an inky background to recreate water.

Then welded a few fonts together on the Silhouette platform to create the title/background of the page.   Each letter - but the "O"- was backed with papers from the Savannah kit and some foam adhesive.  The picture was glued directly to the O cut out.

Clusters of ephemera were then created around the letters of the title as to create a visual triangle.  All those mercats were the inspiration for this page about my niece and daughter's love for the pool!

To complete the title of the layout,  the new Paige Evans small alphas were used to create the words Summer Time on the side of the letter 'L".  Then a few more details were added to the page such as fussy cut shells, stars and fish, as well as enamel dots and soem stickers.

The page was trimmed at the bottom, and a bit of distressing added which produced a space to add another small cluster of ephemera thus completing the page:

Just love the final look of the page.   Stop by Citrus Twist Kits to check all the new kits, and Emma's take on the challenge.  As always I am a comment away if you have questions on how this came together.

Take care!

Vaycay

Scrapbook Layout created for Citrus Twist Kits  - VAYCAY  -

Hello CTK friends and fans!
Nathalie with you today bringing you a project using this month's gorgeous  LEMON DROP scrapbooking and Embellishment Kits.

When Trina shared with us what will be included in the LEMON DROP  kit, I was so excited to receive it (and probably purchased all the add-ons) since i have a very large number of vacation pictures yet to be documented.  But before, I  continue on, let me show you what i created for this post:

The inspiration for this page was the color contrast between the Scenic View paper (from the Here and There collection from Crate Paper) and the rose gold  tones in the ephemera both included in the main kit.   So i decided to create a rather monochromatic simple look for this page that ensure the picture pops.

 \

The background of this page was created using a bit of acrylic pain (Vicki Boutin) to match the color of the ephemera.   Them to replicate the train rail, a bit of texture paste (Ranger) was used on top of the acrylic paint.   The contrast in texture and color make all the pieces of ephemera and layers pop  behind the picture.

The Lemon Drop kits are  probably one of my favorites, yet!  It was so easy to combine pieces from them to add sentiments and details around the page.  Plus the stamp -included in the kit- is perfect to give a bit more details to the page.   My final touch was creating the little fold to the page, and adding the flair that serves as the title for this page!   Here is a video that showcases how the page came together:

I love how this page turned out!  All the elements in the page work harmoniously to document one of our vacation memories ( about 5000 more to go!!!).   Stop by the Citrus Twist Kits store to check the kits (if you are not a subscriber)  you will love them!!!    Remember, I am always a comment away if you have questions on how this came together.

Awesome Life Antics

Scrapbook Layout created for Citrus Twist Kits  -  AWESOME LIFE ANTICS  -

Hi there!

Today, I want to share with you all a new layout created using  this month's Citrus Twist Kits Sugarland Kits.   The kits this month are so beautiful that they have pretty much sold out!.     Trina does a great job curating this awesome kits.

This page was created using a Studio Calico cut file.  To back the cut out, all the washi tapes from the All The Good Things collection from Vicki Boutin (my boss) were attached to a piece of paper, and then used to back the "X" space.  The "O was backed with a paper from the kit.

The picture was then framed with the beautiful pom pom frames from Crate Paper.  And just a few embellishments were used around the entire layout, as there is so much going on the cut itself.

One of my favorite things from all the CTK kits are the stamps and exclusives, and i used some of them to create part of the title of this page.   Here is the complete page:

This page took no time to put together (just the hand stitching took a bit longer), but i love the end result.   The textures, colors, and overall look bring the picture of my kids to focus.   The following video will give you a more in-depth look on how this page came together:

I hope you are inspired by the project.  If you have not checked Citrus Twist Kits, then just click here to be taken to the website.  The kits are amazing (and wait to see what is coming in February!!)   Remember I am always a comment away if you have questions on how this came together.

Take care!!!

Everyday Smile

Scrapbook Layout created for Citrus Twist Kits  - EVERYDAY SMILE -

Hello there!

I hope you are all getting ready for the upcoming Holiday season!   Around here that means trying to put a dent on the memories-to-scrap folder.  This time i am using this month's Citrus Twist Kits's "Good Vibes" main, embellishment, and Patterned paper play kits to document a picture of my daughter on her 14th birthday.

The inspiration for this page was the Maggie Holmes's Carousel collection ribbon included in the CTK embellishment kit.  I just used the color to create a background for the page, and then the velvety texture of the ribbon gave me the idea of softness, so I chose a flower lace cut file from the Silhouette store.

Once the background was set on the page, I used a few pieces from the kits to frame the picture and add small clusters to the picture.

Since the mixed media was created to guide the eye to the bottom of the page, I used the edge of the white cardstock to add my title using a combination of Turn the Page collection ephemera, and the alphas from the Carousel collection clear stickers.   Then trimmed the cardstock, and attach it (with a few lines of machine stitching) to the Bella Blvd, Gratitude Documented  paper that matched the color of the ribbon.  Here is the final layout:

The end result of this page is soft and subtle.  I am still amazed at how a small piece of ribbon inspired this page. It came together so easily by combining these month's CTK kits (most kits have sold out, but be prepared to start a subscription in November - the upcoming kits are gorgeous!!!)

Remember, I am always a comment away if you have questions on how this page came together.

See you all soon!
