My Personal Journal

Traveler's Notebook spread created for Clique Kits  - MY PERSONAL JOURNAL -

Hello again!!

This is the second spread of my travel journal that is being featured at the Clique Kits blog.  This time, I am using a large picture, and pieces from the Spring Card Kit and Pool Party kit.

After enlarging a picture (make sure there is lots of negative space on it!), i trimmed it to fit on a TN  spread.   I made sure to use strong adhesive to glue the picture to the notebook.  Pieces from the card kit were easy to combine with the exclusive printables from the Pool Party kit to create clusters at two diagonal corners of the picture.  Here are the final pages:''

This has to be one of my favorite pages from the trip!.   And it was a breeze to put together.using a combination of pieces from past CK kits.  I hope you are inspired to check the kits in the Clique Kits store.  There are so many beautiful goodies to chose from.

Remember to contact me if you have any questions on how this came together.

Thanks for stopping by!

My Personal Journal

Traveler's Notebook Spread created for Clique Kits  - MY PERSONAL JOURNAL -

Hello there!

It has been busy here, lately!

This time, i am up on the Clique Kits blog with a few entries of my personal journal that showcase some of their past kits, in a new way!

I usually keep leftover pieces from papers of a kit in the same kit bag, however I trim them to fit into a TN spread or page.  In this case, I had cut one of Shimelle's Little by Little collection from Clique kits' PLAY kit to  fit into a TN page.  Since I had prepared this page in advance, it was so easy to embellish it with just a few of the kits embellishments.

I layered pieces from the PLAY kit below the picture, and added a small cluster to the picture.    The best thing to take on a trip with you is stamps, like the Altenew one used to add the small sentiment to the picture. Here is the final look of the page:

I love simple pages like the one here, especially when they are created while high in the sky.  The sentiment was added upon arrival to Ecuador using my grandfather's typewriter (which he handed down to me, and is sitting on my desk right now!)  Remember to check the Clique Kits store for all the kits they offer,  they are all beautiful.

Remember i am always a comment away if you have questions on how this came together!

Thanks for stopping by!

You & Me

Scrapbook Layout created for Just Nick Studio  - YOU & ME -

Hello there!

I hope you all are enjoying these beautiful Summer Days (the current season here in Canada!).  After a long vacation to my native Ecuador, i am finally back home and loaded with lots of ideas, and memories to document.   For this particular picture of my cousin and my goddaughter, i used one of the newer cut files , Frilly Floral Frames, to create its soft and girly background.

My starting point was to create a grid design for the page, but once I started playing with the frames on my Silhouette software, I was drawn to the visual triangle the three frames formed around the picture.  So I went ahead, and welded the 3 frames together, to create the cut out for this page.

Once the cut out was created, i backed the flower in each corner with some of the papers from Cocoa Vanilla's Wild at Heart collection that was included in the May 2017 Clique Kits  monthly kit.

Since i wanted the layout very girly, i chose to use one of the papers from the collection as the background for the page.   The watercolor  design in the page brings the details in the white cut outs.  In addition, a layer of white vellum was added to the squares (as a layer behind the cut out) just to the sections where the square do not intersect.

Using a paper piercing tool, a stitching guide was created around the edges of the squares. Three different color embroidery thread was used  to stitch the frames, so that they match the colors in the background paper.

For the title of this page, the "You Make Me Smile" cut file was used to stitch the "You & Me" sentiment to the page.  Once the stitching was completed, a bit of shimmer watercolor complete the look of the title.   This same watercolor was used to create the splatters around the page.

I really hope this inspires you to take a look at the new designs available at the Just Nick Studio store.  The versatility of each of the designs will allow you to create a one-of-a-kind project.

Remember, I am a comment away if you have further questions on how this came together.

Vacation

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kits  - VACATION -

Hi there!

Today I am up on the Clique Kits blog with a new layout that showcases the beautiful Malibu TN kit, and a bit of mixed media.

As you all know, we are still unpacking after a long vacation to Ecuador, so there are so many memories to document, and this month's Malibu kit is so summery, I had to reach for one of the beach pictures to create the spread.  Here is small video on how the page came together:

For this page, I am using the  VACATION cut file that i created for Scrapbook Nerd ( i will add the PNG to the material list, so you can get a copy here, too).   I backed the letter spaces with papers from  the collection, except the letter "O" which was backed with the picture of the resort we stay at.

To bring attention to the picture, I frame it by creating clusters of embellishments around the letter "O".   A few stickers from the Summer Lights collection from Pink Paislee paired nicely with the ephemera pieces from the Hello Sunshine collection from Fancy Pants.

To match the colors of the papers, I opted to create a watercolor background, and kept the design simple after that, only adding a third cluster to complete the visual triangle.

The exclusive printables included in this kit worked perfect to add just enough detail on the page.   Here is the final layout:

Love the final layout -even after a 6 week scrapbooking break-.  I hope this serves as inspiration to take a look at the beautiful Malibu kit from Clique Kits.  Remember that you can contact me with any questions about my work, i will be happy to answer.   If you use the cut file, i would love to see what you create with it, so tag me on your project -if you share it on social media-!

Thanks for Stopping by!

Shine Bright

Scrapbook Layout created for Maya Road  - SHINE BRIGHT -

Hello there!

This is the first project of a very busy day here at the blog.  This time the scrapbook layout is for Maya Road, and this month the focus is on CHARMS.

There are so many beautiful products to chose from the store, but i wanted to mixed them up in one single layout, so I opted to create a banner type  design to showcase a picture of my daughter.

MR_NATHALIE DESOUSA_SHINE BRIGHT-2

This layout took very little time to put together.  It all started by marking the two holes where the brads would be located.  A bit of mixed media (using shimmer inks in this case) adds interest, and color to the simple design.

MR_NATHALIE DESOUSA_SHINE BRIGHT-7

Once the background was dry, the brads were put in place, and a bit of gold wax  cording was run only through one of the brads.   Here is where the fun started!.  My idea was to center the picture, and add embellishments to each side of the picture.

MR_NATHALIE DESOUSA_SHINE BRIGHT-4

I started by using the Geometric Feather  Die  to obtain some feathers, one from pattern paper (Carta Bella's Flora 1 collection), one from vellum, and one from cardstock.  I tied them together with some jute twine, and used a Resin Flower  to add some decoration to the bunch.   Now to start building my banner!  I worked from left to right (making sure the picture was centered).

MR_NATHALIE DESOUSA_SHINE BRIGHT-6

First i thread some stickers from the Hello Lovely collection from Simple Stories, next a key charm from the Ken Oliver Heart and Key charm set,  a tag from the Flora collection, followed by the feather bunch.   Next i thread the picture, and secure it to the mat using foam adhesive -s0 that there is dimension to the picture-.

Once the picture was secured, i added  a Geometric Heart Die cut backed with vellum, and a Star Bright charm, before adding my journal tag.  A few more stickers and tags from the two collections being used, and finally a Soaring Bird charm completes the banner.  Then the string was secured in the  brad.

Now to complete and balance the page, I used the Sparkle and Shine Die Set to create the title of this page.  By simply cutting the title from some of the papers used in the layout, and then layering them with a bit of an offset creates the illusion of a dimensional title.  A few add ons complete the page.

I hope this inspires you to take a look at all the beautiful MAYA ROAD products available at the online store.  Remember there are still a few days to take advantage of the CHARMS promotion.
You can always contact me if you have any questions on how this page came together.

Til next time!

Together

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd's Summer On-line Camp                     - TOGETHER-

Hello there!

It has been a long time since I have been up on my blog, but we took a long planned vacation to my native Ecuador, and just arrived a a few days ago.     You will be seeing a lot of my work coming up as i have so many plans on the works.

Today,  I am issuing a new challenge at Scrapbook Nerd's Friends and Fans Facebook page for the on-line summer camp.  This time is all about FIX IT UP, which translates into using your editing programs to transform  a picture to fit into a project of your choice.

I always take pictures of my kids in series, so I used LR to create a film strip of some of the pictures of my kids, and also transformed into Black and White.   Next, i used the cut files (you can download them at the bottom of this page!!)  to create the background of my piece.

I used Page Evans's Oh My Heart collection to color block the hearts in the background, and added embellishments to match the colors.   Next I stitched around the speech bubble with the same color of the background paper (paper # 18 - Take Me Away collection).  I glued the heart background onto the paper, and used foam adhesive to attached the speech bubble paper to the mat.

To continue with the color blocking design, I used matching embellishments to add interest all along  the page, and added a bold color title to the page.  Here is the final design:

Love the end feel and look of this page!   I hope you can join in the challenges at Scrapbook Nerd's On line summer Camp.

Remember, I am a comment away if you need any assistance!

Take care!

Materials Used:
Take Me Away collection - paper #18
Oh My Heart collection - paper #4, 12x12 paper pad, 6x6 paper pad, all embellishments
Better Together collection - foam thickers

Canada

Scrapbook Layout created for Wild Whisper  - CANADA -

Hi there!

Though I was born in Ecuador, I call Canada my home  for over 25+ years.   I am a proud Canadian, now, and with the country celebrating its 150 anniversary, I wanted to create a layout about the best thing Canada has given me, my kids!

For this layout, i wanted to stay true to the national colors red and white, so I used a Silhouette cut file to create the large maple leaf on the left hand side of  one of the papers of the Strong and  Free collection.

I love the simplicity, and color combination of this page.   The dimension and textures in the leaf are just perfect to document my loves in our hometown.   The Wild Whisper's Strong and Free collection is gorgeous, but if you are a Canadian, it is also a must in your paper collection.

If you have any questions on how this came together, please do not hesitate to contact me.

And don't forget to check the Wild Whisper's blog for a detailed post and lots of close ups.

See you all soon!
