#Selfie Love

Scrapbook Layout created for Vicki Boutin DT  - #SELFIE LOVE -

Hi there!  Nathalie with you today bringing you a bit of inspiration using the beautiful Vicki Boutin mediums and her gorgeous All The Good Things Collection.
Spring has finally arrived in Canada, but the snow and cold still lingering, so I decided to create a Spring feel layout on a Winter picture using acrylic paints and ink for the background.

Using a gessoed Foundation paper for the background, a bit of thinned out Blue Hawaiian and Iced Daiquiri color pop acrylic paint were added to create the watercolor look on the page.

Before setting aside to dry, a few droplets of the paint were added to the background so that it adds to the messy /artsy feel of the background.

Once the background had dried, a bit of stamping was added.   The script stamp image was added to the background using a matching color from the Cool set Color Wheel.

Also a bit of art crayon was added to the background so that it created a soft color haze around the picture.  Just love how easy it is to add this crayon using  the stencil brushes, and if you see the page you will not be able to realize that two different mediums were used in the background.

While the background set completely, the  butterfly cut outs (Silhouette Store design #77428) were backed with papers from the All the Good Things collection and vellum.

To assemble it all, the picture was propped on some foam adhesive so that it pops of the background, and then the butterflies were placed around it.

A bit of foam adhesive behind the wings adds to the sense of movement of the page.  In addition a few cardstock stickers and finishing elements were scattered around the butterflies.

Just a few more details complete the page, and the ephemera pack and cardstock stickers are the perfect size to add sentiment around the picture

To finish the page, a title was added using the collections Alphas;  a few butterfly watercolor stickers were added, and then a bit of water down gold glaze was used to add some shine around the page ( a few gold splatters and some shine in the watercolor butterflies).

The colors on the page are perfect to bring Spring to a winter picture, and the soft background sets the perfect   placement for the colorful butterflies.  The following video will show you a more in-depth look on how the page came together

I hope this inspires you to play with some of the beautiful Vicki Boutin goodies.  They are fantastic!!!

My Personal Journal - Week 12

Hi There!

We are about to celebrate Easter which means March is almost over.   It is amazing how fast this year is going, but i am happy to report that i am still working on my daily memory keeping!  Here is the entries for week 12:

All these entries were created using the March 2018 Citrus Twist Kits and a few pieces from older kits form CTK, and of course their beautiful stamps

The entries are mostly created using paper, but my single page entries usually are a mixture of digital stamps  and paper.   I have created a template in Photoshop that allows for the placement of the journal and stamps.

That is all for me, for this week of documenting.  Remember to contact me if you have questions on any of the entries.

See you all next week!

Stay Magical

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  -  STAY MAGICAL -

Hi There!

Today, I am up on the Scrapbook Nerd blog with a new entry to the Silhouette Savvy Series.  This time the focus of the lesson is to create a cut file by welding simple images together.  You can head to the Scrapbook Nerd blog to see how this can be achieved.

The new Happy Mini Frames cut file was create for this lesson, and can easily be downloaded for free from the Scrapbook Nerd store.    The following video will give you a look at how the page came together

This page came together rather easily once the cut out was created.   First the colorful mixed media background was created using a few of  Jane Davemport Mermaid markers.

Papers and embellishments from the latest Dear Lizzy collections were used to back the cut out and embellish the page,   The clusters of embellishments have been placed so that the eye is guided through the entire page.

The title for this page was kept simple, so that it does not compete with the other parts of the page.  Here is a look at the final page"

I love how simple it all came together, and the colorful results of the page.   Remember to stop by Scrapbook Nerd to check the   tutorial on how to create the cut file, and to pick up  a free copy of the cut file.

As always i am a comment away if you have further questions.

Have a lovely day!!!

Hello Sunshine

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories  -  HELLO SUNSHINE  -

Hello Simple Stories friends and fans!

Nathalie with you today with a new project that is Spring on a page.   I was so excited to be able to create some samples for Creativation this year, and this is one of them (that is why there is no journal lines on it yet!!!).  That means I was one of the lucky ones who got to play with some of the new collections before they were released, and the new Bliss collection is one of the  most beautiful ones  i have seen.   Just look at all that purple!!

It all started when i cut the triangles from the Live in the Moment paper from the collection. I wanted to take advantage of the angles to anchor my picture between them.   So once i cut them,  i carefully also cut some of the butterfly wings  -using an exacto knife- so that they could be lifted of the page

Then i hand stitched the triangles to white cardstock, making sure to follow the lines of the wood grain of the paper design.  To add more interest to the triangles, a few fussy cut butterflies were also stitched, through the center line, so that they form a flying path on the page.

I fell in love with the florals in this collection, so I fussy cut quite a bit of them from the Be Good, and Remember to Shine papers to create the clusters around the picture.  All the fun embellishments (and the ones included in this collection are gorgeous) just help bring more sentiment to the page.

The title for this page (all about my niece's sweet smile, and love for the ipad) comes from the chipboard sticker set from the collection.   Once i set the "Hello Sunshine" banner for the title, i quickly add another one at the top of the picture.  The movement they create along with the butterflies is just what this layout needed.

I hope this has inspired you to pick the beautiful Bliss collection.   It is the perfect Spring collection, and you will be wanting to use it all to document the upcoming season.  Remember to check all the new Simple Stories collections, they are so so beautiful

See you all soon!

You Are The Best

Junque Journal Entry for Vicki Boutin DT  - YOU ARE THE BEST -

Hello friends and fans!   Nathalie with you today to bring you a bit of inspiration using one of the most addictive little books,  my Junque Journal.   This time I combined this format with a bit of the new watercolor set to create a colorful double spread for my journal.

Have I mentioned I love watercolor, and cannot get enough of  the new watercolor set and brushes.   These two are the ideal for creating those beautiful and rainbow-like backgrounds, and that was the inspiration for this page.

For this entry, I pulled two pages of the watercolor paper inserts for the junque journal. And then added pea size (or smaller) amounts of watercolor in rainbow colors to a palette (this one has a lid, and was purchased at my local Dollar store).   I made sure to add some water to each color so that they would not dry on the palette.

To create the  background, I just started adding color to the page along with some water, so that the color will disperser on the page.  My idea was to have the colors mingle at the edges thus creating a true soft watercolor.

Once the rainbow was created on the pages,  I left it aside to dry completely, and started to work on the embellishments for this page.

The circle stamp and die set from the latest release were used to cut circles from different papers from the 12x12 and 7x10 paper pads.   I wanted to add a rainbow of color to the page using the collection papers.

Before gluing the papers together, I used the starburst circle, and gold ink to add a bit of extra interest to the background.     The circles were glued to the page with glue and foam adhesive -this will help with adding dimension and interest to the page.

I chose to add my picture on the cool side of the project.  Just a few extra decorations is all that it is needed to bring the eye of the viewer to the picture featured in this page.

As I moved onto the second page of the spread, the circles were placed and cut so that they are symmetrical on both  pages.  I continued adding some of  the stamped images and the circles until I had exhausted all the colors of the rainbow.

Now to decorate the page, I chose to color block the decorations.   In some cases, the paper clips were trimmed so that they could be used as ephemera, and then in between some of the circles.  The rest of the décor comes from the watercolor stickers pages.   I simply placed them on the page, and then used one the water brushes and the left over watercolor in the palette to add the respective color to the sticker.

The title was the last thing added to this page.  And then once again, I reached for one of the Watercolor stickers, and the palette to match the color of the title to the page.
Can I say that I love how this page came out!!, and that it inspired the next post (available on my blog).

My little junque journal is slowly becoming colorful, and the perfect place to practice some techniques in a smaller scale before putting them to work on my scrapbook pages.   Here is video that shows you a more in depth look on how these pages were put together.

Thanks for stopping by, and remember to check Vicki’s All the Good Things for all the materials used in this post.  Each medium, paper and embellishment are so easy to work with, and create one of a kind projects.
