My Personal Journal

Traveler's Notebook Entries created for Clique Kits - MY PERSONAL JOURNAL -

Hello there!
Today, I am up on the Clique Kits Blog bringing you a few entries of my personal journal created using the beautiful ( it is truly a gorgeous!)  Aquarelle main kit.
For the first entry was created with a combination of the Aquarelle kit, and the September 2015 exclusive printables.   Here is  a small video on how the page came together:

The picture (of the day) was enlarged to fit into one of the pages of the TN (4.25x8.25 in).  After gluing it to the page, I added a few pieces (Pinksfresh Studio Alphas, and CK printables)  of the Aquarelle kit to the picture.

Since the picture has plenty of white space at the bottom, it was the perfect spot to add a few lines about the day's experience.

To balance the page, the large sentiment card in the September 2015 exclusive printables was machine sewn to a piece of white copy paper -cut to the TN's page size-.  One of the  small tabs was then glued to the card to complete the page, and stamp the date.  Here is the final spread:

The next entry in my personal journal uses the Double Dot paper included in the Aquarelle kit, along with some of the exclusive printables, and Pinkfresh Studio's Nico stamp  Here is a detailed video on how the spread came together:

This spread was so easy to create.  First, I found the center point of the TN page, and used it to cut a large triangle (that will cover the other page of the TN) out of the patterned paper.

The title for this spread was created on the paper covered page using a combination of  stamps (Pinkfresh Studio's Nico alpha, and Simple Stories Faith roller stamp), and the Pinkfresh Studio alphas included in the kit.

A few simple exclusive printables was all that was needed to complete this page, and balance the large triangle on the spread.  After a few lines of journal, and a  few more sentiments added with the roller stamp in  Faded Jeans ink -Distress Oxides- , the page was completed.   Here is the final spread:

Both pages were created in a really small amount of time (between 10-15 minutes), and I love the different looks, I was able to achieve with the Aquarelle kit, and the CK printables.
Remember to visit the Clique Store to check all the exclusive printables, cut files, and most materials used in this pages.  You can use the DT codes to receive a discount at checkout.  As always, I am a comment away if you have any questions on how this came together.

 Hi!

Double duty day!  Here is the second project for Simple Stories ( There is more to come later on!!)

This project is all about the super fun Emoji Love collection, and one of the funniest pictures of my 3 kids.   Sometimes the stars align, and you get that lucky shot, this is exactly how this picture came to be, and  the best way to document it was using all the icons in the collection.

The idea for this layout came after sharing this picture with my family overseas.   It all started from a camera snapshot, followed by the picture going to our family group, and then the reactions  are still coming in.  So, I started by re creating the camera icon in this collection.  I drew the image on trace paper, and used it to build the icon from papers from the 6x8 paper pad and some hand stitching.   This took a bit of time, as I wanted to add details, and texture to this element.

To make the colors of this layout shine, I opted to use white cardstock as the base.  I cut two wide strips of  "YAY" paper, and glued it to the sides of the cardstock; next  two strips of the "Too Cool" paper were cut ( narrower than the previous strips), and glued on top of the previous strips.   The finished camera element was then glued to the bottom of the page, and I used Chipboard stickers, die cut pieces, the combo sticker sheet , and brads to add the cluster on the camera.

To recreate the posting, I cut a speech bubble out of cardstock, and used it to frame the picture of my kids. It was then glued above the camera element, and lots of icons were then glued around it.  Since there is so many icons, speech bubbles and emojis in the collection,

I pulled pieces from all the embellishments in the collection to create the clusters around the picture.  I even used the LOL chipboard sticker as the title for this piece.  Here is final layout:

OMG, this layout is just the perfect representation of  this social media post.   I love it!.   The emoji collection is by far one of the funnest collections to date.

I hope the two projects  here inspire you to document those fun family moments. The new Simple Stories collection are so diverse, fun, innovative that you can easily scrap from outdoor hikes to the common social media post.  The possibilities are infinite with the new Simple Stories collections.  I cannot wait to see what you create with them.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Take a Hike

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories  - TAKE A HIKE -

Hello there!

Double shift day!  First, I am up on the Simple Stories blog with two new projects using some of their new collections.  Here is the first one using the newest Cabin Fever collection.

My husband is passionate about camping and the great outdoors, something he has passed on to my kids.  For this picture of our family hiking around Lake Simcoe, I used the colors and patterns in the new Cabin Fever collection to complete this page.

To create the background, two cut files from the Cut Shoppe were fused together to create a compass. The  star in the middle of the compass was backed with vellum, while the two outer rings of the compass were back with the 'Roughing It', and 'Under The Stars' papers from the collection.  The compass was then glued to the right of the b side of the " Nature  Hike" paper, and trimmed to fit within the edge of the page.

There are so many coordinating embellishments in this collection, that i just had to use as many as i could to frame the picture.   I layered some of the 4x6  element cut-out cards from the collection behind the picture, and glued it between the N and W corner of the compass.   I created the first cluster at the center of the compass by using some sentiments from the Combo Sticker sheet, Bits and Pieces, and 4x6 sticker sheets.

A second cluster was created around the top corner of the picture, here i used pulled some of the beautiful flower chipboard stickers, the boot print brad, and some stickers and die cuts from the collection.  I love the brads from this collection!,  in fact I am hoarding a few of them in my stash!!

Can you tell I love cut files?  I used another design from the Cut Shoppe to create the title of this piece, I used the remaining piece of the "Under the Stars" paper to back the cut-out, and glued it below the picture.  I had to repeat the foot print design -as in the brad-, and chose the Chipboard stickers;   this time, a small cluster was created with some of the Bits and pieces, Combo sticker sheet and another brad ( i love the brads!!!).

To finish the page, I trimmed a bit of the left and bottom edges of the page, and glued the entire mat to the "Summer Camp" paper from the collection.  I added  a few lines of journal around the perimeter of the compass to complete this page.   I love how i was able to combine the picture with the earthy tones of this collection.   Trust me, you need a bit of Cabin Fever to document your outdoorsy adventures!

Let's Go Play

Scrapbook Layout created for The Cut Shoppe  - Let's Go Play -

Hello there!!

It is starting to look a lot like summer around here, I am even pulling pictures from previous summers to document using the fun  designs from the Cut Shoppe.

The waves were created by copying the image from the Make a Splash cut file, set to perforate, and then stitched with embroidery floss.  Once it was all stitched, a bit of watercolor completes the waves, and brings the color of the water from the picture.

The title of this piece comes from the Let's Talk Summer cut file.  The cut out was backed with papers from Echo Park's Summer  Fun collection, and completed with alphas from Shimelle's Little by Little collection.

The picture of the girls at the swimming pool is framed by the title, and lots of papers and ephemera form the collection, in addition with some pieces from the new Simple Stories Summer Days collection.  After adding a few lines of journal.  Here is the final layout

I love the  layout, it came together rather easily, even with the bit of stitching in it.  I hope this helps to prepare for the upcoming summer season.  The Cut Shoppe Etsy store is full of designs that can fit all your memory keeping.

Remember I am a comment away if you have questions on how this came together.

Thanks for stopping by!

Simply - CK Pep Rally

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kit (Pep Rally)  -  SIMPLY  -

Hello there,

I hope you all are doing well, and enjoying the beautiful season!

Today is Pep Rally day for Clique Kits,  it is our chance for the DT and subscribers to show you all what we have been creating with this month's SORBET kit.   I have pretty much killed the kit,  there is only one full page left from the kit, and a few embellishments.  But let me show you what i did on this project.

For this page, i started by drawing circles from 1" to 2" along the center of the page.  Using a paper piercing tool, a stitching guide was created along the circles, and then I used embroidery floss ( to match the colors of the papers) completed the background.

Next I cut circles of different sizes from the colorful dot paper of the kit,  I made sure that there were 4 circles of each color, and they all were different sizes, too.

Using different thickness of foam adhesive, the circles were glued to the page along the center of the page.   I made sure that the circles were glued next to the stitched one, and turn some of the circles to take advantage of the b side of the page.

The picture of my sisters with my kids in a flower patch was the focal point of this page. I used the ephemera, puffy stickers, and exclusives to frame the picture.   To create the title, I pulled a wood veneer from my stash, and added a few stickers from the alpha set.   The journal lines were added inside one of the stitched circles in the page,  Here is the final layout:

I hope you come and join us on Instagram to check what the DT and the Clique Kits subscribers have created.  You can always check what it is included in the kit, and the many exclusives at the Clique Kits store.

See you all around!!

Mom - SN

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd   -  MOM  -

Hello there!

It is  the last day of my reveal week for Scrapbook Nerd, and in time to celebrate Mother's Day, I decided to use some of my doodles to create a cut file for this project.   This cut file is available for free at Scrapbook Nerd store.

I cut the cut  file from white cardstock,  making sure that it would fit inside the floral  paper from the Kaisercraft Wildfllower collection.

I used the watercolor flower paper to back the flower cluster from the cut file, and glued it to  ring opposite to the title of the page.   Foam adhesive was used to create the dimension on the page, this allows for the cut file to be distinguishable in the page.

Since the cluster is so busy, just a few  pieces of embellishment was used around the page.  I took advantage of the ring's perimeter to write my journal lines, and added a few splatters of gold ink,  Here is the  final layout:

I really like how this page came together, there is some satisfaction on creating your own designs especially for this page all about my mom.  Remember you can get your free copy of the cut file at Scrapbook Nerd's store.  Here is small video on how the page came together, enjoy!!

Remember I am a comment away if you have any questions on how this came together.

See you all soon!

Thumbs Up

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  -  THUMBS UP  -

Hello everyone!

We are half way this month's reveal for Scrapbook Nerd.   This month is all about florals for me, and for this project, I chose to use some water crayons, gelatos, and Paige Evans Oh My Heart collection.

It all started by creating this background using watercolor crayons and gelaton on watercolor paper.   I tried to pick some of the colors of the collection, and made sure that the colors were very faint.

This project uses the cut outs included in the 12x12 paper pad. I cut the border that framed the cut out, and backed it with papers from the collection.

Once all the cut outs were backed, I  used matching embroidery floss to create centers on all the flowers.  Using a paper piercing tool, a series of holes were created, and french knots were made in each hole.  This adds texture, and bring more color to the page.

The picture of my daughter and the little is perfectly framed with fussy cut flowers and ephemera from the collection.   The title of this page was created by gluing some of the chipboard stickers to the side of the picture.  Here is the finished page:

This page came together super fast and easily.  The mixed media background adds to emphasize the flowers colors.  Sometimes all it takes is a little experimenting to see how you can create a one of a kind piece just by altering a pre made cut a bit.  For all the materials used don't forget to visit Scrapbook Nerd, there is always something new being added to the store.

Remember I am a comment away if you have any questions on how this came together.

Take care!
