Mom - SN

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd   -  MOM  -

Hello there!

It is  the last day of my reveal week for Scrapbook Nerd, and in time to celebrate Mother's Day, I decided to use some of my doodles to create a cut file for this project.   This cut file is available for free at Scrapbook Nerd store.

I cut the cut  file from white cardstock,  making sure that it would fit inside the floral  paper from the Kaisercraft Wildfllower collection.

I used the watercolor flower paper to back the flower cluster from the cut file, and glued it to  ring opposite to the title of the page.   Foam adhesive was used to create the dimension on the page, this allows for the cut file to be distinguishable in the page.

Since the cluster is so busy, just a few  pieces of embellishment was used around the page.  I took advantage of the ring's perimeter to write my journal lines, and added a few splatters of gold ink,  Here is the  final layout:

I really like how this page came together, there is some satisfaction on creating your own designs especially for this page all about my mom.  Remember you can get your free copy of the cut file at Scrapbook Nerd's store.  Here is small video on how the page came together, enjoy!!

Remember I am a comment away if you have any questions on how this came together.

See you all soon!

Perfect Smile

Scrapbook Layout  created for Scrapbook Nerd  -  PERFECT SMILE -

Hello there!

I hope you  all are enjoying the beautiful Spring season!

This month, I was inspired by color for my Scrapbook Nerd reveal week, and decided to use lots of colorful collections to bring you some inspiration.

I was drawn to the super colorful Joy Parade collection by Fancy Pants to create this layout.  The triangle pattern paper is so fun, and just like a  puzzle, I was able to create different size hearts just by cutting around the triangles.

Once i had cut the shapes,  i used them as a template to cut similar shapes out of the solid color papers in the collection.  I made sure to leave a small offset in each of the solid colors, so that the color will show once the patterned heart was glued on them.

Using a paper piercer, i created a guide to add some stitching around the hearts using embroidery floss of the same color of the backing paper.  Once they were all stitched together, I bundled them into 3  sets, and using  different depth foam adhesive attached them all together.

At the same time, I created the background for this piece by using watercolors that matched the collection, and the packaging technique.   I made that the colors were scattered around the page, with emphasize to where the clusters will be placed.

Once the background was dried, I glued the heart bundles to the page, and added embellishments from the collection around the hearts.

The picture of my son and mom was then layered with papers from the collection, and attached to the large colorful smudge on the page.  Since there is so much going on the page, I added just one cluster to the top of the picture, and decided to place the title at the bottom of the page using a piece of ephemera, and alphas from the Heart Day collection from Crate Paper.  Here is the final layout:

I love the color scheme of this page, and all the color just complements the candid picture of my son and mom.    I hope this serves as inspiration to take a closer look at the patterns in the papers of the collection you are working with.   Remember you can visit Scrapbook Nerd to pick all the materials used in this layout, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me.

Thanks for stopping by!!

MOM

Scrapbook Layout   created for National Scrapbooking Day  2016  -Mom-

A close up of the layout's details

Hello everyone!

I hope that all of you are getting out all your scrapbooking supplies to celebrate National Scrapbooking Day.   I will be working on many different projects today, all related to scrapbooking, of course.  Today, the ladies at Scrapbook Nerd will also be hosting their first physical crop - unfortunately i cannot attend the crop -, so I have volunteered to help with today's celebrations.

Since Mother's Day is happening tomorrow, we thought that issuing a challenge all about mom would be fitting for both dates.   My challenge is all about using a picture of you with your mom and a large title in a scrapbook layout.

My choice is to create a cut-file that spells the word "MOM".   This will allow me to place the picture in the center of  the page as part of  the large title.  To form the title, I cut the title 3 times (2 in kraft card board, and one in white cardstock).  This will make sure that the title has dimension, and creates a shadow on the patterned paper is being used to back it up.

The extra layers behind the title do also help reinforce the thin cuts,
and avoid having to cut small pieces of foma tape.

Once the tile was ready,  I chose a picture to back the letter O, and Fancy Pants' Attwell  collection papers for the rest of the cut file.

I chose a dark mat for this layout as  a way to highlight the picture and large title.    In order to add interest to the page, I penciled a large heart in the center of the mat, and proceeded to stamp and emboss in white pearl color a series of flower stamps on the outside of  the heart.

the subtle look of the embossed stamps gives the backgrond a  small shine
and lots of interest.

After placing the title in the center of the heart.  I fussy cut the abstract flowers from Fancy Pants' Attwell collection (I am loving this paper), and  placed them at opposite sides of the picture inside the letter 'O'.

I used word stickers in between the flowers, and puffy stickers from the
Attwell collection from Fancy Pants.

I didn't want to add much more embelishmet to the page, as i wanted the title, picture and flowers to be the highlights of  the layout.  A few lines of journal to the top left corner of the heart completed this layout.

The completed layout.

I love this layout.   It has already been framed and sits on our home's sofa table.

I hope you like it,  and decide to participate on this challenge.  So go look for a picture of you and your mom, and create a layout using 'MOM' as the title and highlight of the page.

I look forward to seeing all your creations.
