BON VOYAGE - Simple Stories

Hello Simple Stories friends!  Nathalie here today with a new project that celebrates the fun excursion days at sea in my native Ecuador.   I was so happy to receive the new Cruisin' collection from Simple Stories as it fits all those special pictures of the many excursions we went on while visiting my family back home.

To start this layout, i chose a cut file from The Cut Shoppe and used it to create the anchor from the Set Sail paper and the helm from the Man Overboard paper.   A bit of hand stitching was added around the shapes to bring some texture and dimension to the page.

These two pieces were then attached to the b-side of the 2x2 element paper using some foam adhesive  so that they create depth on the background of the piece.

The beautiful chipboard stickers from the Cruisin' collection were ideal to create the title of this page.  I simply added them to the top right corner of the helm along with some stars.   Before adding the picture, i trimmed the page a bit, and glued it to  the  Explore the Shore paper.   This helped framing the page completely.

I used pieces of ephemera and stickers to create clusters at the corners of the picture.  Just love all the fun elements that make it so easy to bring the sentiments of the day to the page.

This page was so fun to put together, and just love how it turned out.   The fun Cruisin' collection from Simple Stories is not just perfect to document your cruising memories.  Make sure to check it out, you will love it!!!

Hello Fall

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories  - HELLO FALL -

Hi there, Nathalie with you today bringing you a bit of Fall.   I think that i look forward to the Fall season more than anything else; it's the cozy feeling, the colors, the cooler weather, PSL( Pumpkin Spice Latte!) and of course the crunching leaves.  And this year, Simple Stories new collection, "FOREVER FALL", is the perfect one to document all these treasured moments

To construct this page, a cut file from the Silhouette store was used to cut out letters to form the title from various papers from the collection.

While i hand stitched the title, I used a cut file from The Cut Shoppe to a group of leaves from all the papers in the collection. The color palette of the papers and designs in the collection are just perfect for the season, that i just couldn't chose one!

To have all the details of the page pop, i chose to use the Sn@p Basic Walnut/Cream Dot paper as a mat for this page.  Once the title was set in place, I layered some of the leaves at both corners of the title

A few stickers and die cuts were also nestled around the clusters just to  bring more interest to the page.  I added the small, "Hello", circle die cut behind the top corner of the title so that it can read as "HELLO FALL".

Since Fall is my favorite season, there is always so many memories being made outdoors;  the picture was embellished with a few clusters at the top and bottom right corner. Just love all the embellishments included in the FOREVER FALL collection.

I hope this page has inspired you start your Fall documenting.   The FOREVER FALL collection by Simple Stories is sure to bring the season to your page!

Happy Fall you all

XO

Real Life Captured

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - REAL LIFE CAPTURED -

Hello!

It is time for my weekly share for Scrapbook Nerd, and if you are a parent of a teenager then you will understand how hard it is to photograph them.   Well at least my kids are!  they are at the stage where the smile lasts 2 seconds, and then the frown last the day.   So i decided to make lemonade out of lemons, and created this page about this so awesome moment in their lifes.

I started by using a cut file from The Cut Shoppe, and backed it with papers from Pinkfresh Studio's A Case of the Blahs collection.  I truly love how on point this collection is especially when dealing with my failed days.

Before laying down the cut out on the mat (Bazzill embossed cardstock), I used a bit of Vicki Boutin's art crayon just to pop the colors of the stars.   A bit of foam adhesive adds dimension on this page, and creates that soft shadow on the background.

The clusters around the picture are made up of stickers and ephemera from the collection, and also from the Mix2 and Let your Heart Decide, both from Pinkfresh Studio.   A few extra details were added using the collection stamp.

For the title of this page, I used a combination of the collection's ephemera and alphas from the Mix 2 collection.   A few extra stamped sentiments and some lines of journal complete this page,

I cannot but chuckle every time i see the picture, and i think having the stars around the picture just makes it sillier.  Truly a clear representation of life with teenagers!

You can check all the  materials used in this layout at Scrapbook Nerd, there are so many new things arriving daily!

As always, I am around if you have questions on how this came together, just leave a comment, and i will be happy to assist you.

Til next time!

Sister Love

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd - SISTER LOVE -

Hi there!

It is the beginning of the month, which means a new cut file release at Scrapbook Nerd!!!

The new cut file -designed by the Cut Shoppe-  comes perfect for the Spring season, so I took advantage of the design to create a cascade of flowers in my page.

The flowers were cut to measurea at the largest 2.5 in.    Once all the flowers were sized,  they were all cut from white cardstock.

All the flowers were backed with papers from the Pick Me Up collection.  However the center of the flowers were the only ones glued, so that there is some movement on the flowers.

All the leaves were backed with papers from the Pick Me Up and Turn the Page collection, making sure to chose just green colors for them.  The entire cut outs were glued to the paper this time.

Before gluing anything to the page, a bit of mixed media was added to the background.  A bit of white acrylic paint and Jane Davenport's Mermaid markers add a soft colorful bakground for the page.

The picture was propped on some fun foam, and set on the page.   Then all the flowers and leaves were glued using some foam adhesive.  They were attached so that they surround the picture (in a half moon shape).

To create the title for this page, a combination of stickers from the collection were used.  Then the page was completed with a few embellishments from the colleciton.   Cardstock stickers, sequin, ephemera, and stickers complete the page.

Just love the large cluster of flowers in the page.   This page is the perfect way to celebrate my sister, and our relationship.   Remember to stop by Scrapbook Nerd to pick up a free copy of the cut file.   I will be around if you have questions on how this came together.

Take care!

Crafty Girl

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories  - CRAFTY GIRL -

Hi there!

I am up at the Simple Stories blog with the last project for the 2017-2018 DT term, and i wanted to use one of my favorite collections, CRAFTY GIRL, to document a picture of my daughter and her passion for crafting!

It all started with this background created using Vicki Boutin's markers on a gessoed surface.  I love the subtle rainbow that it created for the background.

Next it was all about creating the focal point of this page - a large title -.  For this i used the Cut Shoppe's cut file, and used vellum and papers from the collection to back all the empty spaces.

This collection is packed with so many awesome stickers, chipboard stickers and die cuts, that i had to combined in clusters around the page.

Finally, I added the picture of my daughter to the page, and added another cluster of ephemera to bring the eye to the picture, and to emphasize the sentiment of  the page.     To finish the page, I trimmed the background, and adhere it to one of the papers from the collection.  Here is the final layout:

The lines of journal will be added once it comes back to me from Creativation.   Once you see this paper collection, you will also want it to be part of your projects, so check Crafty Girl from Simple Stories.

Take care!

Snow Fun

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories - SNOW FUN -

Hello Simple Stories Friends and Fans!

We are in the middle of Winter here in Canada, so what better way to warm up those cold days, than a bit of inspiration using the super fun "SUB ZERO" collection.

The designs, and colors in the papers in the "SUB ZERO" collection are so bright and fun, so what better way to showcase them all, than to create a large title  -using a few cut files from the Cut Shoppe-.   And to bring more winter to the page, a bit of extra winter (as in Vicki Boutin's Iridescent glaze and a snowflake stencil) on the background.

To bring a bit more fun, and playfulness to the page.  Small clusters of ephemera and stickers were added around the title, and in clusters around the picture of my nephew while playing in the snow!.  Gotta love all those fun elements in the SUB ZERO collection!

I hope this inspires you to check the "SUBZERO" collection.   The fun and colorful designs will bring a bit of happiness to those cold Winter days.

That is all for me!

XOXO

Snow Selfie

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd -  SNOW SELFIE  -

Hi there!

It is theme week at Scrapbook Nerd!, and the theme is winter/holidays, so I thought I will combine some of my favorite things in one page.

First I used the Very Merry cut file to create the row of snowflakes in the edge of the mat, and then add a bit of foam adhesive to create dimension on the page.

Next,  I wanted a large title, so I pulled the Open Alpha, and Snow Day cut files from the Cut Shoppe to create the large title.   The letters were cut from two different papers, white for the SNOW, and one of Crate Paper's SNow and Cocoa collection for the SELFIE part, then they were all backed with the WInter Wonderland papers from Simple Stories.

The picture of us on the last day of the year is the center piece of this page, and it was easily framed with pieces from the WInter WOnderland collection, and the golden snowflakes from Crate Paper.  Here is the final page:

I love this page,  it is perfect for our family picture.   I went for very subtle colors, and love the result of the texture on the edge of the pages.

Remember to check Scrapbook Nerd for all the materials used in this page, and don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions on how this came together.

Take care!
