Say What?

Scrapbook Layout created for Just Nick Studio -  SAY WHAT? -

Hello there!
Nathalie with you today!  We are in the middle of a hot summer here in Toronto, so my teenage kids have been spending a lot of time indoors with their cell phones at hand.  How fun is it that i can document such a not so fun memory with some of the Just Nick Studio cut files?

To start, I added a light coat of Vicki Boutin art crayons to the background, so that the cut out would stand out from the page.

To create the background, i used the Text Me and Say What? cut files to create the large cut out and words that are set on the background.

I used Paige Evans' Pick Me Up collection to back the cut out using a bit of foam adhesive.  The speech bubble words from the Text Me cut file were then glued straight to the patterned that backs the cut out.  In addition, I used the Hashtags 1 cut file to create the small hashtags that are added to the speech bubbles and title.

The negative pieces from the Say What? background and the speech bubbles from the Text me cut file were also added to the background.  All the embellishments come from the Emoji collection from Simple Stories.

The title of the page was created by using  the Say What? and Hashtags 1 cut files, backed with papers from Paige Evans collection and then propped with some foam adhesive.

This layout turned out better than what i had expected, and it perfectly documents those not so shiny moments of my Summer with my teenage kids.

I hope this serves as inspiration to use some of the new JustNick Studio cut files, and to stop by the store to check all the designs that are available,   Remember I am always a comment away if you have any questions on how this was put together.

Real Life Captured

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - REAL LIFE CAPTURED -

Hello!

It is time for my weekly share for Scrapbook Nerd, and if you are a parent of a teenager then you will understand how hard it is to photograph them.   Well at least my kids are!  they are at the stage where the smile lasts 2 seconds, and then the frown last the day.   So i decided to make lemonade out of lemons, and created this page about this so awesome moment in their lifes.

I started by using a cut file from The Cut Shoppe, and backed it with papers from Pinkfresh Studio's A Case of the Blahs collection.  I truly love how on point this collection is especially when dealing with my failed days.

Before laying down the cut out on the mat (Bazzill embossed cardstock), I used a bit of Vicki Boutin's art crayon just to pop the colors of the stars.   A bit of foam adhesive adds dimension on this page, and creates that soft shadow on the background.

The clusters around the picture are made up of stickers and ephemera from the collection, and also from the Mix2 and Let your Heart Decide, both from Pinkfresh Studio.   A few extra details were added using the collection stamp.

For the title of this page, I used a combination of the collection's ephemera and alphas from the Mix 2 collection.   A few extra stamped sentiments and some lines of journal complete this page,

I cannot but chuckle every time i see the picture, and i think having the stars around the picture just makes it sillier.  Truly a clear representation of life with teenagers!

You can check all the  materials used in this layout at Scrapbook Nerd, there are so many new things arriving daily!

As always, I am around if you have questions on how this came together, just leave a comment, and i will be happy to assist you.

Til next time!

Dream Big

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories  -  DREAM BIG -

Hello Simple Stories Friends and Fans!
Nathalie with you today with a new project that is all about color and GOOD VIBES.  I love taking pictures of my kids and their little cousins together, especially since they get along very well despite the large age gap between them.   Sometimes it is hard to document these pictures, but  the new Simple Stories' GOOD VIBES collection was perfect to convey the feel of this memory.

I wanted to use as many of the papers and colors of this collection, so my choice was to create a large title using a JustNick Studio cut file, and then used papers from the Good Vibes collection to back the letters.

To have all the details pop on the page, a bit of mixed media -Vicki Boutin's Art Crayon- was added to the b-side of a Sn@p! Birch/white grid paper.

Once the title was added to the page, it was time to start embellishing!  Since there are so many fun and colorful icons, I chose to color block the clusters so that they match the colors in the background.

The picture was then backed with one of the papers from the collection, and placed next to the title.   Once again color block clusters were created around the picture.   Just love all the icons and how perfect they work in these color clusters.

Totally loving the GOOD VIBES on this page.  I hope this serves as inspiration to check this new Simple Stories collection.   You are going to love how fun and versatile the new Simple Stories' GOOD VIBES collection can be!

Til next time!

Love Story

Scrapbook Layout created for Just Nick Studio  - LOVE STORY -

Hello there!

Let me  in on a little secret, today is my 18th wedding anniversary.  At first I was considering documenting one of our wedding pictures, but i thought that will not show the real us, so instead i picked one of out attempts at a decent selfie to tell the story of the past 18 years.

To create this page, I chose to use the title as the focal point of the page.  So I chose to enlarge to fit pretty much 2/3 of the page.

I chose the "Love" design from the WORD 4 cut file, and sized it to fit across the entire page.

The "Story" design from the WORD 3 cut file was then welded under the last two letters of Love, and then sent to the machine to cut.  I used a pair of scissors to trim the intersecting parts of the "L" and "V" from the O, and backed it with one of our latest selfies.

The rest of the letters were backed with papers from Fancy Pants Design's The Bright Side collection.  Before gluing it to one of the papers of the collection, I added a bit of Vicki Boutin art crayon to the background, so that all the details of the cut out will show nicely.

To finish a few embellishments were added to the page, so that the picture is framed nicely with them.  A few lines of journal complete the page.
I love how this turned out (I am a fan of large titles -one of my favorite designs!!), and how easy it was to put together using the beautiful and versatile JustNick Studio cut files.
Stop by the Just Nick Studio store to check these and the rest of their beautiful designs.
Have a lovely day!

You Are Happiness

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - YOU ARE HAPPINESS -

Hi there!

It is time for a new project for Scrapbook Nerd.

This time, i chose once again Paige Evans's new collection, Pick Me Up, to create a page all about my niece's zest for life.

The background was created using a cut file from the Silhouette store.  Then each heart was backed with papers from the collection, but the larges heart which was backed with vellum.

Before gluing the cut out to the page, a bit of art crayon was added to the page so that the texture of the cardstock will show.  Vicki Boutin's crayons and stencil brush were used so that the colors matched those of the corrresponding heart.

Foam adhesive was then used to attach the cut out to the page, and add some exra dimension to the page. Then the picture was glued above the cut out.

The large vellum heart encases the title which is made up of stickers from the collection.    A few stickers were then added to the corners of the picture as to frame it, and also create a leading line on the page.

A few extra details from the collection complete the page and add the need shine and color to the page.  After the journal lines and some gold ink were added, the page was completed:

I love everything about this page, texture, color, and dimension all in one page.   As you all know i am a fan of Paige's collections, and you can find it all at Scrapbook Nerd, so stop by the store to check it all out.

Remember to contact me if you have questions on how this came together.

Take care!

#Relax

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd   - #RELAX -

Hi There!

It has been a rather quiet week for me... Well it happens to be March Break/Spring Break here in Toronto, so I am enjoying the time with my kids (they are both home), and it happens that my schedule was free at the same time, a win win situation.   But i couldn't go with out sharing a few projects scheduled for this week.

This page was  created for Scrapbook Nerd, and it features Crate Paper's  Good Vibes collection, and a bit of Vicki Boutin magic.   For this page, I started with some Vicki Boutin crayon and a stencil brush to add that golden shadow in the background.

Next, i used a cut file from the Silhouette Store to create the large floral cut outs for this page.    All the colorful papers from the collection were then used to back the cut outs,

A bit of foam adhesive props the cut outs from the page.   The picture was then attached to the page surrounded by the cut outs.  Just a few details were needed to finish this page (all come from  the collection).  I am a stamp fanatic, and the one that comes in this collection is perfect to add some sentiments (with gold ink) around the clusters in this page.   Here is the final layout:

I love how this page turned out.   The soft art crayon background creates that soft glow behind the colorful pictures, which are the perfect complement to a picture of my daughter and niece just chilling on the couch!.

Remember to stop by Scrapbook Nerd to check all the materials used in this page.  There are so many new goodies arriving daily, so check them out.

I am always a comment away if you have questions on how this came together!
