FULL OF JOY - Scrapbook Nerd

Hi there!

Spring is finally here, and that means lots of color starting to pop around my part of the world.   I love having colorful papers to work with, so i pulled the Spring Farmhouse collection from Simple Stories to create a new project for Scrapbook Nerd.

It all started with some mixed media to the sides of a gessoed Bazzil Marshmallow cardstock.   A bit of black art Crayon and gold glaze from VIcki Boutin create the perfect background for the soft lines of the cut file from Handipaper (which was backed with some vellum).

Once the background dried, two strips of paper from the collection were machine stitched to the page, and the cut out was also glued to the background so that it looks as peeking from behind the paper strips. 

All the floral pieces from the Spring Farmhouse  ephemera pack were fussy cut to reduce the white edge on them.  These were combined with stickers from the same collection to create clusters around the picture and form a diagonal design on the page.

For the title, a phrase was chosen from the Simple and Sweet gold puffy stickers from Pinkfresh Studio. This sits next to a small cluster of fussy cut florals.   A few lines of journal and some gold ink complete this page.

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - HOME LOVE -

This week Scrapook Nerd  asked their DT to work projects that reflect our home.  Well i chose to show a little glimpse of our every day life  in our home using the I am Mom Collection.

I started by adding some Vicki Boutin art crayons through a stencil to the background, and then trimming the cardstock and stitching it to one of the collection patterned papers.

I used cut files from Just Nick Studio and Handipaper to create the large title for the page,   I cut each image twice from cardstock and once from patterned paper so that i could build up some depth in the title.

The stamp set from this collection was used to frame the title, and also guide the position of all the elements on the page.   I chose to color block the position of the embellishments so that they color block the page.

Hello there!

 Here is layout, I created to join one of the challenges at ScrapbookNerd's on-line crop.  The challenge called to use a flower as an inspiration for a layout.  I chose a yellow daisy as my inspiration piece.   

Lots of yellow acrylic paint to create an ombre effect.
Matte gel medium to create the texture

I created my background with some yellow acrylic paint and a palette knife.  I went for an ombre effect by adding white paint to the yellow mixture at each pass of the knife.  Once that was dried, I added some matte gel medium to the paint, and used it on top of an stencil to create texture (as in the center of the daisy).  

I looked in my stash for all the yellow stickers and pieces of ephemera I could find ( i have a lot, and it is not my favorite color).   Here is the final layout:

The complement of yellow, white and black is stunning on  this layout.

Hello there,

It seems i have been away from my blog for a while!   But having battled a horrible cold, and had to meet deadlines has left little time for my weekly updates (they will be on later on today or tomorrow).

Since during the weekend, Scrapbook Nerd -the company I am currently designing for- hosted an on-line crop,  I actually decided to try and meet all the challenges of my fellow designers.  So I chose to create this word art (I started with a layout idea, but quickly changed my mind) inspired by the May mood board at Scapbooknerd.com

One of my favorite scriptures (hand stitched)

I decided to use a combination of embossing ink, gold embossing powder, water colors and fine brushes to create a flower ampersand.   After it dried, I added one of my favorite verses from my bible, 1 Corinthians 13.

I hope you like it,  now I just have to find a frame to put it in my daughter's room.
