Cool Rad Awesome Dude

Scrapbook Layout  created for Scrapbook Nerd - Cool Rad Awesome Dude -

a close up of the layout

Hello there!

I can't believe we are in September, autumn is at our heels, and my kids are both High Schoolers...

This week is my reveal time at Scrapbook Nerd, and I  have created projects based on family, and how they are changing as we grow older.  For this layout, I used Fancy Pants's "Good Fellows" collection to document a picture of my son in his suit.   I drew inspiration from the papers to add layers and colors to the page.  Here is a small video on how this layout came together:

For this layout, I started by creating the diagonal segment where I placed my picture, and the title.  I chose to use all patterned papers from the collection, as it contains a lot of white in it.

A look at the layers  on the  layout.

Since I am using a black and white picture, I added some mixed media behind the  picture and title of the layout.   I chose to layer the photo with papers from the collection.

I like the subtle effect of the ink behind the picture layers

For the title, I chose a Scrapbook Nerd cut file (Guy Stuff - it is available for free at the store). I chose to back the empty spaces of  the cut-out with the same papers on the picture layers.  The title was attached to the layout with adhesive foam dots, to add some dimension to the project.

A close up to the title of the project.

To finish the layout, I added a few more details along the page, as well as a few lines of journal that describe how i feel about this (not-because-he-is-my-son) amazing boy.  Here  is the final layout:

I really hope you take a second look at this beautiful collection from Fancy Pants, and all the new stuff that Barb and Joy are always stocking the virtual shelves of Scrapbook Nerd store with.

As always, let me know if you have any questions about anything on this layout.

See you soon!!

Now & Then

Scrapbook Layout - Now and Then -

A quick look at the layout.

Hello,

I finally found time to upload all these layouts that have been laying on my table (between being sick, babysitting my littles, and dealing with my kids, summer has flown by).   Here is another layout that I created by using the Millie and June collection from Fancy Pants, and a bit of hand-stitching.

The cross-stitched ampersand of the background.

I started by stitching a large cross-stitched ampersand on the background of the layout.  To continue the design, a small edge was trimmed around the layout, and then it was stitched to the criss-cross patterned paper of the collection.

For this layout I chose to document pictures of my sister and I now, and  when we were kids.   I positioned them at each corner of the Ampersand, and added small clusters of ephemera around them.  The title was created using the Alphas of the collection.  I chose to write a small note in one of the tags from the collection, and add it under one of the pictures.  Here is the final layout:

This layout brings a lot of happiness to my soul. It is a reminder of the time that has passed by.

As always, let me know if you have any questions about how this layout came together.

See you all soon>>>

MOM

Scrapbook Layout   created for National Scrapbooking Day  2016  -Mom-

A close up of the layout's details

Hello everyone!

I hope that all of you are getting out all your scrapbooking supplies to celebrate National Scrapbooking Day.   I will be working on many different projects today, all related to scrapbooking, of course.  Today, the ladies at Scrapbook Nerd will also be hosting their first physical crop - unfortunately i cannot attend the crop -, so I have volunteered to help with today's celebrations.

Since Mother's Day is happening tomorrow, we thought that issuing a challenge all about mom would be fitting for both dates.   My challenge is all about using a picture of you with your mom and a large title in a scrapbook layout.

My choice is to create a cut-file that spells the word "MOM".   This will allow me to place the picture in the center of  the page as part of  the large title.  To form the title, I cut the title 3 times (2 in kraft card board, and one in white cardstock).  This will make sure that the title has dimension, and creates a shadow on the patterned paper is being used to back it up.

The extra layers behind the title do also help reinforce the thin cuts,
and avoid having to cut small pieces of foma tape.

Once the tile was ready,  I chose a picture to back the letter O, and Fancy Pants' Attwell  collection papers for the rest of the cut file.

I chose a dark mat for this layout as  a way to highlight the picture and large title.    In order to add interest to the page, I penciled a large heart in the center of the mat, and proceeded to stamp and emboss in white pearl color a series of flower stamps on the outside of  the heart.

the subtle look of the embossed stamps gives the backgrond a  small shine
and lots of interest.

After placing the title in the center of the heart.  I fussy cut the abstract flowers from Fancy Pants' Attwell collection (I am loving this paper), and  placed them at opposite sides of the picture inside the letter 'O'.

I used word stickers in between the flowers, and puffy stickers from the
Attwell collection from Fancy Pants.

I didn't want to add much more embelishmet to the page, as i wanted the title, picture and flowers to be the highlights of  the layout.  A few lines of journal to the top left corner of the heart completed this layout.

The completed layout.

I love this layout.   It has already been framed and sits on our home's sofa table.

I hope you like it,  and decide to participate on this challenge.  So go look for a picture of you and your mom, and create a layout using 'MOM' as the title and highlight of the page.

I look forward to seeing all your creations.
