Dreaming with Eyes Wide Open

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kits  -   DREAMING WITH EYES WIDE OPEN  -

Hello there!

Happy National Scrapbooking Day to you all!!  I am sure you are all hopping around, absorbing as much inspiration as possible from all the great scrappy feeds.

Clique Kits is also holding an on-line live crop on their Facebook page, The Clique, so come join us.
Today, the DT has created challenges for you all to complete.  This is my first challenge, and it is something dear to my heart,  CUT FILES.  So the challenge is to use a cut file to create a layout.

Today, I am using the beautiful Clique Kits Sorbet kit to create a page about my son.  My scrappy young friend (who happens to be an amazing designer, too), Maryam  Perez, recently released a free cut file on her blog - just click here to be taken to her blog- , and it was perfect for what i had in mind.  So i played with the cut file  (copy, flip and welded the image) until i was happy with it.   Then i used the papers in the kit to back the cuts.

This month's kit -Sorbet- is filled with beautiful pieces of ephemera, so after gluing the picture in the center of the layout, I used the large piece of ephemera to create the title of the page, and frame the picture of my teenage son.

How can you not add so much detail to a page, when there is to much to chose from.  Since the page is mostly black and white, the small pops of color in the ephemera work to bring life and attention around the page, and to the picture.  Here is the final layout:

I love, love  this page.  It is so my style!, and defines my son to a tee!  I really hope you take so time, and visit the Clique to take on some of the challenges.    Remember there is prizes to be won!!
If you would like more information on the materials used in this layout, visit Clique Kits, there are so many beautiful things to chose from in their store.

See you all very soon!!!

You Are My Happy Place

Scrapbook Layout  for NSD 2016  @ScrapbookNerd.com  - You Are My Happy Place-

It is all about the fringe!!

Hello once again!!!

This is my last layout created for Scrapbook Nerd's National Scrapbooking Day 2016.   For this I was inspired by the new Bloom Collection from Crate Paper.

For starters, I chose a large picture of my sister and my nephew together  (I love this picture)...  I decided that i wanted to highlight the picture, so enlarged it to 8.5 x 11 in, and matted it on white cardstock.

I created a fringe border using all Crate Paper papers from the Bloom collection and Style board collection.  I cut strips of 2 x 12 in, and used a pair of scissors to cut the fringe.  I sew the strips together to a multicolor polka dot paper.

A close up of  the cluster in the picture.

Using a foam sheets behind the picture, I attached it to the page, making sure the picture sat above the fringe.  I added just a few clusters at two of the corners of the picture.

The second cluster - a  close up-

For the title, I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the "You are my Happy Place"  file twice.  I glued the two cut outs together, and then attached it to the bottom of the picture.

I used pearl white cardstock for the title

Finally, I added a few puffy sequin stickers, photo corners and a tag behind the picture with all the journal about this picture...

The Final Layout...

I called this page my Ode to Crate Paper, as 90% of the materials used come from their different collections.

I love it, even though it will most likely go to my sister's scrapbook or my nephew's room.

I hope you join me at Scrapbook Nerd for more fun.

Happy Scrapping!!

Head In The Clouds

Scrapbook Layout for NSD 2016 (@scrapbooknerd.com)  - Head in the Clouds -

It is all about the fringe!!

Hello everyone!,

It has been a busy way prepping for this weekend's celebrations:  Mother's Day and National Scrapbooking Day 2016...    I found an outlet to my creativity when I started scrapbooking, so now I prepare to celebrate a whole day filled with inspiration.

This is the second layout, i have created for a challenge at Scrapbook Nerd.  Since, the challenge is all about the fringe!.  I wanted to create something  fun to evoke a child-like feeling in the layout.   I knew the picture I was scrapbooking was that of my nephew looking up at the sky while being in his photo session -trust me we tried to have him look at the camera and smile-...

For this I used the Happy clouds cut file from the Cut Shoppe...  I went ahead and blew up one of the clouds, so that it will fill most of my page;  a few extra clouds were also cut from the same cut file.

I used a smaller cloud to add my title on it.

Using all Pink Fresh Studio's Felicity collection, I cut a few strips of different papers from the collection to about 2.5 in x12 in, and used my Cameo to make the cuts to all the strips at once  (I used technology for this layout).   Once I had the strips; i stitched them with the sewing machine to the large cloud cut-out.  I trimmed the edges, and glued the cloud on the paper.  I popped the outline cut-out on small glue dots), and attached the outline around the fringed cloud.

A close-up of the picture that inspire this page.

I matted the picture on white cardstock, and added just a few pieces of ephemera.   It was enough to highlight both the picture and the background.  I added the extra clouds and my journal lines inside the top cloud outline,     I love the results...

The Completed layout.

You can head over to ScrapbookNerd.com  for more lots of fun!!

MOM

Scrapbook Layout   created for National Scrapbooking Day  2016  -Mom-

A close up of the layout's details

Hello everyone!

I hope that all of you are getting out all your scrapbooking supplies to celebrate National Scrapbooking Day.   I will be working on many different projects today, all related to scrapbooking, of course.  Today, the ladies at Scrapbook Nerd will also be hosting their first physical crop - unfortunately i cannot attend the crop -, so I have volunteered to help with today's celebrations.

Since Mother's Day is happening tomorrow, we thought that issuing a challenge all about mom would be fitting for both dates.   My challenge is all about using a picture of you with your mom and a large title in a scrapbook layout.

My choice is to create a cut-file that spells the word "MOM".   This will allow me to place the picture in the center of  the page as part of  the large title.  To form the title, I cut the title 3 times (2 in kraft card board, and one in white cardstock).  This will make sure that the title has dimension, and creates a shadow on the patterned paper is being used to back it up.

The extra layers behind the title do also help reinforce the thin cuts,
and avoid having to cut small pieces of foma tape.

Once the tile was ready,  I chose a picture to back the letter O, and Fancy Pants' Attwell  collection papers for the rest of the cut file.

I chose a dark mat for this layout as  a way to highlight the picture and large title.    In order to add interest to the page, I penciled a large heart in the center of the mat, and proceeded to stamp and emboss in white pearl color a series of flower stamps on the outside of  the heart.

the subtle look of the embossed stamps gives the backgrond a  small shine
and lots of interest.

After placing the title in the center of the heart.  I fussy cut the abstract flowers from Fancy Pants' Attwell collection (I am loving this paper), and  placed them at opposite sides of the picture inside the letter 'O'.

I used word stickers in between the flowers, and puffy stickers from the
Attwell collection from Fancy Pants.

I didn't want to add much more embelishmet to the page, as i wanted the title, picture and flowers to be the highlights of  the layout.  A few lines of journal to the top left corner of the heart completed this layout.

The completed layout.

I love this layout.   It has already been framed and sits on our home's sofa table.

I hope you like it,  and decide to participate on this challenge.  So go look for a picture of you and your mom, and create a layout using 'MOM' as the title and highlight of the page.

I look forward to seeing all your creations.
