JANUARY CHALLENGE - Pinkfresh Studio

Hi there!

I am so glad to be  returning to Pinkfresh Studio's creative team for another term, and we are kicking off the year with a YEAR in REVIEW challenge.  There were so many fun challenges in the past year and with all the beautiful collections, it was hard to narrow it down to one specific challenge... However I love Alpha dies and  the color palette in the June 2020 challenge were just perfect for this page.

How about that color palette!  I started this page by adding a bit of texture paste through the Diamond Motif stencil -making sure that the impression sits on the center of the white cardstock-

While the paste dried, I used the Heather Uppercase Alpha die set to cut the title for my page ( LOVE, LOVE, LOVE LOVABLE YOU) from heavy cardstock and papers from Let's Stay Home collection.  I used the white diecuts as the base for the letter, and just added the patterned paper letter to the center of each of the diecuts.

To emphasize the color palette, I used Pinkfresh Studio Premium Dye Inks to add a bit of color to the background using a blending tool.   Once the ink set, I used a bit of foam adhesive to prop the letters on the background of the layout making sure the letters sit on their respective color block.  I purposely set the images of my baby so that they followed the flow of the title.

I used embellishments from the Let's Stay Home  and Noteworthy collection to add a bit more interest to the page, then added a few lines of journal at the bottom of the page.

Just love how this all turned out!  Remember to visit the Pinkfresh Studio Monthly Challenge blog to join in, you can win a $50 gift certificate to the shop!

HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS INSPIRATION - Pinkfresh Studio

hi there!
Nathalie with you today with a bit of Home for the Holidays inspiration.  I am sure most of you are busy working on documenting your December, and since i am in the Northern hemisphere, that means Winter and snow for Christmas. So, let me show you what i have created...

Under the Mistletoe

I love the colors of the Home for the Holidays collection, and probably the Mistletoe  paper is one of my favorites ( even though i am not a yellow fan!).   But it was the perfect paper to frame the story of our fun adventures with a mistletoe head band.

I wanted a large title to offset the film strip, so i used the Kelly Alpha Die sets ( lowercase and uppercase) to create the title for the layout using papers from the Home for  the Holidays collection.  I cut the same letters from double white cardstock and backed each letter - this makes the small details in the letter die cuts stand out!-.

I backed and layered the film strip with  the Holiday Gifts and Advent  paper.   Each picture got a cluster of embellishments around it, however I chose to add a larger cluster to the left of the top picture so that it balanced the page completely.   The following  video will show you how it all came together:

Just loved how this came together using the colors and patterns from the collection and the die sets.

Though the collection  is perfect to document your Holiday/ December memories, it is so versatile that can easily be used to create memories of your Winter adventures.  Let me show you!

Winter Walk

To create this page, i pulled the cooler colors of the patterned papers and combined them with a bit of mixed media (liquid watercolors) and the Pine Bough Square cut file.

I started by creating a soft edge on the paper strips using the Essentials:  Lacey Edgers Die Set.  The edges bring texture to the page, and add the winter feel to the page.

To bring more of the winter feel to the page, I used liquid watercolors ( Sky Blue, Aquamarine, Bubble Gum, Clementine, Sunshine) to add splashes of color on the background.   Once dried, I set the paper strips in place, and used the Pine Bough Square cut outs to create a large cluster of sprigs  around the picture.  The following video will show you more details of my process:

I love how this layout shows how versatile the Home for the Holidays collection can be, all you need is a bit of Liquid watercolor and one of the  new cut files.

I hope these have inspired you to pull your Home for the Holidays collection and other Pinkfresh Studio goodies ( dies, stamps, cut files and mixed media products) to document your December/Holiday/Winter memories.
Remember to share with us what you have created, and if you have questions on how these came together, please do not hesitate to contact me!.
Happy Holidays!

Love You Already

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - LOVE YOU ALREADY -

Hello there!

Finally getting back into the groove of memory keeping.   The teens are back to school, the house has been cleaned, and now there is plenty of time to work on creating some pages for my scrapbooks. Since this week we were asked to create projects about new beginnings or changes, I right away pulled this picture of my cousin -she is like my little sister, as i am the eldest of the family and she grew up with us-, who would be having her second girl (my goddaughter #2 from her) in a couple weeks.

Since she is wearing the vibrant blue in the picture, i went with colors that would complement the picture, so i pulled PinkFresh Studio's Indigo Hills 2 to create this page.  I even used a non-white background for it!

First off, i fussy cut the florals from the 6x6 paper pad and the 12x12 paper -Glen- from the collection.  I pulled a few cut outs ( these were available in my stash) of leaves so that i can help layer them behind the flowers.

The picture was sized to fit behind the large chipboard frame, and glued to the page, then the florals were attached so that they create two large clusters flowing from behind the picture.   I used the empty space from one of the clusters to add my title using a combination of embellishments and alphas from the collection.   A few lines of journal and enamel dots complete the page:

Love how the picture is the star of the page complemented with those gorgeous florals from the PinkFresh Studio Indigo Hills 2 collection.   Now it is just a few days before we meet our new niece even when they are miles away in Ecuador.

Remember to stop by Scrapbook Nerd to check all the materials used in this page, and lots of new goodies arriving!
As always, do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions on how this was put together.

Loved

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd   -  LOVED  -

Hello there!

Happy NSD weekend to you all!

If you are a scrapbooker or memory keeper, then you know this weekend is all about this beautiful paper craft.  There is a lot of inspiration going around, as well as challenges, crops, and lots and lots of beautiful projects being created.

Scrapbook Nerd is holding their second physical crop, on NSD, but since not all of us can attend,  we are also issuing some challenges via an on-line crop for all our followers.  Here is one of my challenges:   Use floral motives in a project.

If you follow my work, then you will know by now, I love cut files.   For this layout, I am using an Ina Moreva design from her Etsy store -Handipaper-.   I chose to cut two of the designs on white card stock.

I trimmed some of the pieces to create this floral corner behind the picture.   I am using stickers, and ephemera pieces from different Maggie Holmes collections:  Bloom, Gather, and Chasing Dreams.

For the title I used a large gold chipboard piece from the Gather collection, and tied it into the page by adding a fussy cut butterfly from the Chasing Dreams collection.   A few lines of journal complete this page:

I love the simplicity of the page, and how it brings so much softness to the picture of my daughter on her communion day.   I hope you join us at Scrapbook Nerd Friends and Family facebook page to check this, and the rest of the challenges.

See you all soon!!

A Whole Latte Love

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd's Jumpstart Your Creativity on-line crop                                     - A Whole Latte Love -

Hello there,

Over the weekend, Scrapbook Nerd will be hosting the first on-line crop of the year, "Jumpstart Your Creativity".  As part of their design team, i have created a pair of layouts to challenge all  to put your thinking caps on, and reignite your crafty skills.

This first challenge is called:  " Be Creative with no Patterned Paper", and it is all about creating a project without the use of patterned paper (a scrapbooker most beloved item).    For this I used the Cut Shoppe's Welcome to Fall cut file to create a title for the page.  Once that was ready, i used the same shades of watercolor to add a strip of watercolor splashes to the layout.

I was true to the challenge, and chose to use ink, card stock, wood veneers, die cuts, chipboard stickers, labels, paper clips and vellum to layer and create clusters around the picture of my favorite Holiday drink,  " Peppermint Mocha, no whip, extra curls from Starbucks".   The picture was then placed next to the title, along the strip of watercolor splashes.

To balance the page, I created a series of banners along the top of the page, using die cuts, vellum, wood veneers, and  the left over red cups from this year's Starbucks holiday campaign.  I simply ask the baristas (they know me by my first name at the local shop -i am there quite often), for a few extra cups, tore them apart, and used a circle cutter to get different size circles i stitched together with some die cut pieces.   Here is what the completed layout looks like:

As you can see, I did not use any patterned paper in the layout, instead, i was inventive with the little red cups and a lot of items from my stash.

You are all welcomed to join us for some fun at the Scrapbook Nerd Friends and Family Faceboook page, or the forum.   There are some prizes to be won!

As always let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for visiting!
