12 DAYS OF GIVEAWAYS, Day 4 - JustNick Studio

Hi there,
Nathalie with you today bringing Day 4 of the 12 Days of Giveaways!  I am so excited to be part of this JustNick Studio tradition - I hope you all have been checking the blog to collect your free daily cut file download-.  Today's freebie is the ORNAMENT 3 cut file, and you are going to love how fun and versatile it is!

How fun are those ornaments!  I started this page with a bit of mixed media.  I used Vicki Boutin art crayons to bring some of the green of the Christmas tree to the page.

My idea of creating a cascade of ornaments came from the fun selfie.  For this, i cut the ornaments twice from white cardstock and stacked them together to create dimension on each ornament.
To bring the festive feel of the season, i chose papers from the Pink Paislee Together for Christmas and Pebbles Inc. Merry Little Christmas collection to carefully back each of the ornaments, then attached them to the background using foam adhesive.
All that was left to do was embellish the picture with a few stickers and a shiny title.   Just love those ornaments and i think they will be perfect to document some of your December memories.  And you can download a copy of the Ornaments 3 cut file for free just today - Dec. 5th, 2019

Love You Already

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - LOVE YOU ALREADY -

Hello there!

Finally getting back into the groove of memory keeping.   The teens are back to school, the house has been cleaned, and now there is plenty of time to work on creating some pages for my scrapbooks. Since this week we were asked to create projects about new beginnings or changes, I right away pulled this picture of my cousin -she is like my little sister, as i am the eldest of the family and she grew up with us-, who would be having her second girl (my goddaughter #2 from her) in a couple weeks.

Since she is wearing the vibrant blue in the picture, i went with colors that would complement the picture, so i pulled PinkFresh Studio's Indigo Hills 2 to create this page.  I even used a non-white background for it!

First off, i fussy cut the florals from the 6x6 paper pad and the 12x12 paper -Glen- from the collection.  I pulled a few cut outs ( these were available in my stash) of leaves so that i can help layer them behind the flowers.

The picture was sized to fit behind the large chipboard frame, and glued to the page, then the florals were attached so that they create two large clusters flowing from behind the picture.   I used the empty space from one of the clusters to add my title using a combination of embellishments and alphas from the collection.   A few lines of journal and enamel dots complete the page:

Love how the picture is the star of the page complemented with those gorgeous florals from the PinkFresh Studio Indigo Hills 2 collection.   Now it is just a few days before we meet our new niece even when they are miles away in Ecuador.

Remember to stop by Scrapbook Nerd to check all the materials used in this page, and lots of new goodies arriving!
As always, do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions on how this was put together.

Be Merry

Hi there!
Nathalie back with you today.  I hope you all have been visiting the JustNick Studio blog and collecting all the awesome designs that Nicole has created.

Today's free cut file,   HOLIDAY LAURELS,  is one of my favorites of the past 12 days!  Love the designs, and their versatility, so i put them to work on a layout all about my beautiful mami.

It is no secrets, i love florals, so i decided to use the floral image of the Holiday Laurel cut file to create the cut out on my page.  However, they were not placed as in the original image; instead i chose to layer them so that they create a cascading movement on the page.

I used Crate Paper's Merry Days collection to back the flowers and leaves in the cut out, and then attach them to one of the collection's paper using foam adhesive.

I used the spaces created by the movement of the cut outs to add the picture of my mami -on a very recent shopping trip- and my journal lines.  A few embellishments is all that was needed to complement the picture.

To complete the page, first i added another cut out -created using the same cut file- at the end of the floral cut out so that it will elongate the floral movement.   The space below this was used to add the title, which was created using the Merry Wishes cut file, a bit of Vicki Boutin gold glaze makes it stand out on this page.

Love how this turned out, and now it is time for you to stop by the JustNick Store to pick up a free copy of the HOLIDAY LAURELS cut file.

Merry - Altered art-

 Hi  there!
It is starting to feel and look a lot like Christmas, and what better way to celebrate the beginning of the season than to share cut files! For the next 12 days, JustNick Studio will be giving a cut file a day for free!  So, let's get started!

Today's free cut file is "Build a Poinsetta", and it is the perfect cut file to create beautiful layouts and cards, but how about a decor piece for your home, well...

Every few years we change the color of the Christmas tree decorations, and this year our daughter decided the colors: blush, white and blue-gray.   The new colors mean that our Christmas decorations also have to be revamped a bit, so i decided to create this piece to for our home.

I pulled a Jillibean embroidery hoop and painted to match our wood pieces.  While the paint dried, i used today's free cut file, "Build a Poinsetta" to cut the pieces for the flowers from papers that matched the tones of the tree ornaments.  A bit of Vicki Boutin Art Crayon helps to add the shading to the petals, while a bone folder helped to create the movement of the flowers and leaves.  To finish each flower, I added a few french knots to the center of each flower.

To add the sentiment to the hoop, i decided to pull the  Merry and Bright cut file and used only the "merry" word of it to create the stitched sentiment on the hoop.

To assemble the piece, i added some small branches created using a soon-to-be-released "Holiday Boughs" cut file, and then glued all the pieces to the hoop.  I added a piece of ribbon to the top of the hoop, so that the piece can also be hung from the tree or around our home.  Just love how this turned out!!!
