Pool Beauties

Scrapbook Layout -  Pool Beauties  -

a close up of the layout.

Hello,

I had worked this layout as soon as  the picture was taken,  but had forgot to publish it.   I love this picture of the two girls at the pool, and was inspired to go girly for this layout.

To start, I picked the Hello Hearts cut file from the Cut Shoppe to create the background for this  layout.  The last pieces from Simple Stories' Sunshine and Happiness collection were perfect to add some color to the background.  The stitching around the hearts, just helps to accent the color.

I pulled a lot of ephemera and stickers from the Sunshine and Happiness collection to create the clusters around the picture  (I am left with just bits and pieces from the collection.  I loved it that much!)

Title of the page

For the title I chose the Tall Type cut file from the Cut Shoppe,  I used white card stock to create the cut outs and backed them with vellum and pieces of paper from the collection.

To balance the design, I chose to add a small cluster of ephemera at the corner of the layout, as if peeking from behind the beautiful Fancy Pants paper.

Here is the final layout.   All the small details make it beautiful to me.   I hope you also enjoy the layout.

Please let me know if you have any questions about how this came together.

See you very soon!

Happy Pool Day

Scrapbook Layout -  Happy Pool Day -

a close up of the layout,

Hello!,

I have been busy creating new projects for the different design teams, I am part of.  However, in between assignments, I have been using the breaks to try and use up my paper stash, and document some of the pictures from the summer outings.

A look at the mixed-media on the layout's background.

I started this layout, by trying to replicate the water splash created when kids cannonball into a swimming pool.   I chose water colors like blues and teals for the background.  Once the paint was dried, I used the May Mash up ampersand cut file to add a large focal point on the layout.

a close up to the picture details

I attached the picture of my littles with a few pieces of ephemera around it.  I picked pieces that had a lot of color in the blues and fuschias to match that of the picture.

the title of the page

For the title, i chose to play with the stickers and ephemera from Simple Stories' Sunshine and Happiness collection.   I added the title to the top left corner of the page.  To complete the page, I glued and stitched the page to a pink watercolor paper.   I made sure to trim a small edge around the entire page, so that the background paper will show as a frame to the layout.
Here is the final layout:

I like how the contrast on colors shows throughout the page, and I hope this serves as inspiration to finish documenting summer pages (though i still have at least 100 pictures to document).
As always let me know if you have any questions about this page.

Take care!

Hello Sunshine

Scrapbook Layout -  Hello Sunshine -

a close-up to the layout

Hello!,

As i am writing this post, there are many collection arriving at my door step, so I have tasked myself to make a dent on my paper stash.  Trust me,  it is not easy, as I love pretty paper, and have lots of it safely kept in Iris containers.  But i knew that I had to work on trying to use up the collections, so I created this layout with a combination of many small pieces of different collections.

I am using the "Fresh Squeezed" cut file from the Cut Shoppe to document a picture of my littles taking a rest while shopping around the local plaza.  They both have drinks on their hands, so the cut-out was perfect  for this project.  I am using a combination of vellum, Simple Stories' Sunshine and Happiness collection, and The Cut Shoppe's Sunny Side up digital collection papers to back the cut out.  I attached it to the white cardstock using foam adhesive squares, so that there is dimension on the page.

a close up to the picture of my littles.

I framed the picture with papers from the collection, and added pieces from different collections in clusters around it.

For the title, I used one of the cardstock  paper piece from the Sunshine and Happiness collection.  Once again, I am using foam adhesive to attach it to the cut-out, so that it will stand out in the page.
Finally I added some details around the page, and a few lines of journal to the bottom of the page.
Here is the final layout:

This page is one of my favorites, as it tells the story of my littles on a hot summer day, plus i got to combine different collections in a coherent look.

As always let me know if you have any questions.  Thank you for visiting today.

See you around!!

Hello Summer, I Love You!

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd - Hello Summer, I Love You -

a peek at the layout.

Hello all!,

As my reveal week continues at Scrapbook Nerd.   I am still inspired to document summer memories - it is my way to preserving the  long hot days in the sun with my family-.  For this layout I am using a picture of my son and my nephew at the EX.   These two are 12 years apart, but love each other to death.   I have created a small video on how the layout came together, I hope you enjoy it:

For this layout, i chose to use the Cut Shoppe's Summertime Circles.   The Sun shape was used to recreate the sunny feeling of the day.  To create the Sun, I isolated the sun shape on the Silhouette software, and sent it to cut on white cardstock.  Next, I did not unload the cut mat, and added an external offset to the page, I set the machine to perforate the offset line, so that i can follow the perforations with some hand stitching.   Once I have the cut out, I stitched the sun in different colors (all found in the stripe paper of the collection), and proceeded to back the cut out with a paper of the same color as the stitched line.

Here is how the cut-out looks like before the picture was added.

The picture was added next.    Many layers were created by using papers of the collection, and pieces of ephemera, and cut-outs from the Silhouette store.

a close up of  the picture

For the title, i chose stickers from the collection to form my sentence. ..

I cut a small edge of the layout, and attached it to the stripped paper from the collection using a sewing machine.  A few more details were also added in the page.  Here is the final layout:

I love the simplicity of this page, as it brings the attention to the picture.   I hope you visit Scrapbook Nerd to see what the ladies have in store.

As always do not hesitate to contact me with any questions about this or any or my layouts.

 See you around!

Beachy Keen

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd - Beachy Keen -

A peek of  the layout

Hello!,

Summer is almost done, and we are rapidly getting everything ready for a new school year here in Canada.   With that in mind,  I was inspired to create projects about travel and summer memories for my August reveal at Scrapbook Nerd.

For my first project, I chose to continue using the Sunshine and Happiness collection as i find it perfect to document sunny and cheery memories.  For this project, I have created a small video on how  the layout came together,  hope you enjoy it:

I started the layout by creating a  mixed media background using heavy body acrylic paint mixed with acrylic ink to represent the water and sky color of a sunny day at the beach (though my picture does not show those colors -it was taken at 7 am on a rainy day at the beach).  Once the background was dried, I trimmed a few inches of the edges and attached it to the bright yellow paper of the collection.  I distressed the edges of the page, and added some details to the top corner of the page.

A close up to the texture and details on the corner of the layout.

For the title, I chose the Cut Shoppe's Beachy Keen cut file, and cut the word's Beachy Keen on white cardstock twice.  I glued the 2 cut-outs together to add some dimension, and attached it to the layout -on the opposite side of  the folded corner -

the title of the layout.

The picture was layered using a few of the card cut-outs from the collection along with pieces of ephemera.  A small wave cut-out from the Cut Shoppe's Land Ho cut file was layered with the picture to continue the beach theme of the layout.

the small cut-out works perfect to add interest on the page.

Finally, I added some  journal lines, and some ink splatters to complete the layout:

I love this layout, as it shows my son on his first walk on the Pacific Ocean.   I hope you get some inspiration to document your memories of beach days, too.  Don't forget to visit Scrapbook Nerd for all your paper crafts needs, the two owners are great, and offer lots of free cut files and special orders...

As always leave me a comments if you have any questions about this layout.

See you soon!!
