Sweet - SCT blog

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook and Cards Today - Cut File Guest Designer  -  SWEET -

Hello there!

I am so excited to share with you all this new project!

A few weeks ago,  I was contacted by Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine about guesting as a designer for their monthly cut file release.  Upon receiving the file, i used it to cut a few different designs from white card stock (you will see the rest of the designs pop in this blog in the next few days!)

I pull the beautiful Simple Stories Faith collection for this layout, and chose to pick just the cool color palette of the collection - yellow, blue, teal and green-.   Using foam adhesive i backed the flowers and leaves in the cut out.

Next I chose to use a large picture of my sister and nephew (a few days after he was born),  I made sure that the picture would fit within the circle.  My idea was to use the picture inside the ring, but instead I chose to leave one of the corners out of the ring.  This gave me space to embellish the corner, and take advantage of the light in the picture.  I wrote my journal in the tag, and glued a small envelope to the layout,so the tag can slide in and out).

I bought each of the new Bella Blvd,  Acrylic pieces, and used it to create the title in this page.   A few stickers, and fussy cut elements complete the title.

To finish the page, I added a few extra of this flowers to cover the original design that was included in the patterned paper.     Though a  few of the pink flowers are showing, the page still has a balance of masculinity due to the color combo.   Here is the final layout:

I love this page,  it is the perfect image for the miracle my nephew is, and the love my sister has for the little.     I am so thankful to Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine, and Nicole Nowosad for having featured me in the blog.
Stop by Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine blog to pick a copy of the cut file.   I look forward to see your takes on the cut file.

Take care!

Love What You Do

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  -  LOVE WHAT YOU DO  -

Hello!

We are half way through my reveal week for Scrapbook Nerd, and just like the previous posts, the theme for this month was color.  Today's layout is just the perfect mixed of color, stitching and pretty paper.

It all started with this cut file from the Silhouette Store.  I simply perforated the edge, and spent a few hour stitching the words with embroidery floss that matched the colors of Echo Park's  JUST BE YOU collection.

Once the stitching was finished,  the distress inks were used to color the inside of the words.  Small drops of the ink accompanied of a small cluster  bring the eye to the layout.

For some of the words, I had to combine multiple colors, to obtain the right shade of colors.   The picture of this layout   was kept in B/W, and   i used some of the papers to form a cluster around him.

Before ending the page, I trimmed two edges of the mat, and glued it to one of the patterned paper in the collection.  Here is the final layout:

I love, love this!

The colors  combined with the texture from the stitching are two of my favorite things.  The simplicity of the layout is what makes it perfect.   Don 'r forget to check The Scrapbook Nerd  for all the new releases, and all the materials used in this page.

Remember, I am a comment away if you have any questions on how this came together.

See you all soon!

Believe

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories   - BELIEVE -

The second layout of today's post at Simple Stories blog is all about my daughter, and the gorgeous Faith collection.  This is by far my favorite Simple Stories collection!;  it is just so beautiful, and can be used in so many paper crafts, from Bible journals to every day pictures.

I  love cut files, and Simple Stories has a large catalog  of designs available in the Silhouette Store.   The large shattered heart design was the inspiration for this layout.  I used the Silhouette software to add an offset to the image -this helps to add hand stitching on  the cuts.

The paint strokes in the "Shine"paper were the starting point for this project.  By aligning the cut file to the paper, i was able to color block the cuts to match the paint strokes.  A bit hand stitching just around the cuts that contain a single color was then added,   Some  thread was spooled around the edges of  the cuts that  aligned at the junction of two colors.  I just turn on Netflix, and spend some time stitching this background 😉

The 6x8 paper pad was used to back the cuts in the heart, and then glued to the "Shine" paper.   Before adding the picture, I used the 3x4 cards from the Cut-apart paper to layer the  picture, and added some of the 12x12 combo card stickers in between layers to form clusters around the picture.

I love the Carpe Diem Sticker tablet, and the Clear Stickers, they have  a lot of small stickers than can be added used in scrapbook projects.  Just look at the small butterfly!

There is so many butterfly motives in the embellishments of this collection; so i  created a few larger  ones using a punch.  Two butterflies were punched from the papers -used to back the cut out-; a bit of machine stitching holds two  butterflies together.  I love how these add a sense of movement to the page.

I love how this page turned out.   I even used the Bible verse on the die cut pieces as inspiration for my journal lines.

The two new collection, Faith, and Domestic Bliss, are the perfect complement to your  memory keeping, especially for those especial every day moments.   So check them out!

Thanks for stopping by today!  See you all soon!

Trust - Simple Stories IG hop

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories  -  TRUST  -

Hello crafty friends!

It is an exciting day for me!,  It is the first time, I am using the Simple Stories watermark to showcase one of my projects.  I am still in shock, and so humbled by God's gifts.    IN addition, today the entire 2017 Simple Stories creative team is showcasing their style in a IG hop (if you are visiting by following the link on my IG account... WELCOME!).

For this project I wanted to find a sweet way to document my word of the year using the beautiful Simple Stories products.  The picture is that of my two youngest kids (yes, my Boston Terrier is our baby), and the love they have for each other.   Our baby always comes close to us whenever he is afraid of something, and this capture made me remember of  Psalms 56: 3 "When I am Afraid, I put my TRUST in you".

I simply layered papers from the Faith collection behind the picture, and clustered fussy cut flowers, stickers and brads from the collection around it.

Using  a paper from the Posh collection as base for the page, I fussy cut some of the flowers from the Faith collection, and created these clusters at each corner of the page.   A  bit of foam adhesive works to bring dimension to the cluster, and highlights the small word stickers included in  the clusters.

I love large titles, especially when I can created them with a cut file and hand stitching.   For my OLW,  i used papers from the Faith and Posh collection , and stitched them together to  white cardstock.

I added the Bible verse as my journal lines, as this is just a forever reminder of  God's promises for me, and what I always tend to forget to do:  "TRUST".  Here is the final layout:

I love, love this page, and will now sit on my room next to my bible stand.  The papers are just to beautiful, it broke my heart to have to fussy cut it.

This is just the first of many projects to come in this new adventure with Simple Stories.  I am so thankful to them for the invitation, and I am hoping to not disappoint.

As always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions on how this came together.

Thanks for stopping by today!
