Home Love

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - HOME LOVE -

Hi there!

This week Scrapook Nerd  asked their DT to work projects that reflect our home.  Well i chose to show a little glimpse of our every day life  in our home using the I am Mom Collection.

I started by adding some Vicki Boutin art crayons through a stencil to the background, and then trimming the cardstock and stitching it to one of the collection patterned papers.

I used cut files from Just Nick Studio and Handipaper to create the large title for the page,   I cut each image twice from cardstock and once from patterned paper so that i could build up some depth in the title.

The stamp set from this collection was used to frame the title, and also guide the position of all the elements on the page.   I chose to color block the position of the embellishments so that they color block the page.

Love all the color and look of the page, and it shows what makes our place a home.  Remember to check the entire I Am Mom collection from Echo Park at the Scrapbook Nerd store, and leave me a comment if you have any questions.

It is Always Coffee Time

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd -  IT IS ALWAYS COFFEE TIME -

Hi there!
It is cold and snowy here in Toronto, the perfect weather to be indoors enjoying the comfort of the couch along a cup of coffee, well in reality a cup of coffee goes well with any season, time regardless of the weather.  I mean we were brought up with coffee, as it was always available at our home in  Ecuador, so my routine always has a couple cups of it in, and today i am taking the time to document and celebrate coffee time using materials purchased at Scrapbook Nerd.

For this project, i used a cut file from Handipaper to create the coffee mugs from white cardstock.  While the cups were cut, a bit of white acrylic paint was added to a piece of blush cardstock - this will take a bit of the color of the background-.

The cut outs were backed using papers from the 6x6, kit and solid kit from Echo Park's COFFEE collection.  At the same time, a few floral motifs were fussy cut from some of the papers from the collection.

To assemble the page, first the picture was backed using one of the frame ephemera pieces from the collection, and then backed with thick foam adhesive.   The cups were attached also with different widths of foam adhesive around the picture, and then all the floral motifs were added around the cups and picture.

A few stickers form the collection and C'est La Vie collection -too- were added to the page to complete clusters around the fussy cut flowers and also the title for this page.   A few lines of journal and some enamel dots complete this page.

Well, i am sure you can tell how much i love this page, as it celebrates my love for coffee thorugh my love for paper, a win-win in my book.

Remember to check this collection - Echo Park's COFFEE- and lots of new products arriving at the Scrapbook Nerd store, you can always contact me if you have any questions.

I Love Summer

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd - I LOVE SUMMER -

Hi there!

Hope you all are enjoying your summer/winter!...  Today's project is for Scrapbook Nerd, and it is all based on Summer, and its colors.

I started with some Vicki Boutin acrylic paint and gesso to create the colored triangle shape on the page.  Once it dried, i used some gess and a Kaisercraft stencil to create the spinwheel/firework image on the backgroud. The  background  was finished with some gold ink droplets.

I took advantage of the shape of the background to create a large cluster of ephemera, chipboard stickers, and  some paper layers along the vertical line of the picture.   I used all the colors in the new Echo Park  Good Day Sunshine collection to bring Summer to this picture of my daughter at the beach resort in Ecuador.

To accent the shape of the background,  the page was trimmed about half an inch per side, and then glued to one of the papers of the collection.   A small slit was created on the half point of the vertical side;  the edges were turned in, as to reveal a bit of the background.  The fold was then used to hung a banner that serves as the title of this page.

I love how this turned out. The colors and feel of the page are perfect for Summer, and the  picture of my daughter.

Stop by Scrapbook Nerd to check all the materials used in this page, and remember that you can always contact me  if you have any questions on how this came together.

Love to Craft

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  -  LOVE TO CRAFT  -

Hi there!

It is a new week, and we are getting close to the end of February.   The month of love is almost over, but before we close it up, i want to share with you all a new layout created for Scrapbook Nerd using the I Rather Be Crafting collection by Echo Park.

I started by creating a watercolor background using a few of my Prima Marketing watercolor palettes.   The shape was given based on the cut file ( by Paige Evans Silhouette collection) that will be placed on top of the watercolor.

I chose to only back small places in the cut file, as I wanted the background to serve as the color behind the cut.

There are so many stickers and small little details in the collection that work perfectly bundled as clusters at the corners of the picture.   The collection's stamp is perfect to add some sentiment to the page.

To create the title of the page, some of the letters were cut from one of the collection cut apart cards, and combine with the collection stickers.  A bit of foam adhesive just adds a bit of dimension and movement to this part of the page.   After a few lines of journal, and some ink splatters, here is the final page:

Just love how this page came together.   All the colors in the background shine through the cut out, but bring the picture forward!

Remember to check Scrapbook Nerd to find all the materials used in this page!   As always, i am around in case you have questions on how this came together.

Take care!

Winter Baby

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd   - WINTER BABY -

Hi there!

Hope you are all doing well.  It is theme week over at Scrapbook Nerd, and this month all our creations are inspired by this mood board created by Joy:

All the colour and textures made me think of snow and winter, so I pulled a picture of my nephew, Echo Park's A Perfect Winter collection , and a Paige Evans' cut file Design ID #233761 ( I know it says faux flower in the design, but i see stars/snowflakes) to create this page.

I started by backing the cut file on a piece of paper from one of the Simple Stories pads, and then started lightly folding some of the edges of the cut file as to form stars.   My choice was to somehow recreate a snowfall on the picture.

I used some of the papers from the collection to back the picture, and then layered embellishments in clusters at the corners of the picture.

To complete the visual triangle in the page, a small cluster was added to the top of the corner of the page, and used the space below to add the journal lines.

For the title, I pulled some of  the chipboard stickers, and added some alphas from  Fancy Pant's Millie and June collection.   A few extra snowflakes, and some gold ink complete the page:

I love the whiteness and texture of  the page.   Remember to check Scrapbook Nerd for all the materials used in this post, and also join us for this month's challenge on the Scrapbook Nerd Friends Facebook page _ it is based on this mood board, and the winner will take a GC to the store_

Let me know if you have any questions, I am always around to answer them!

Take care!

Fall Leaves

Scrapbook Layout created for JustNick Studio  -  FALL LEAVES -

Hi there,

Nathalie with you today bringing you a new project totally inspired on this week's theme, LEAVES.   I just love Fall, and fallen leaves are my addiction so this was a  match made in heaven for me.

This page was ideal to document what happens after a leaf fight in the park.   For this i pulled a few cut files to create the background for the picture of my daughter spotting leaves in her hair.

First I used the new Hearts 2 cut file to cut the large heart that serves as base for the layout.   A bit of hand stitching just adds texture and dimension to the page.

The Leaf Cluster 3 was used to create the cluster at the top of the heart.  All the papers from Echo Park's Perfect Autumn are perfect to bring the fall colors to the page.

To frame the picture, I used the Leaf Cluster  2 cut file to cut two of the images.  Just love all the colors in the Echo Park collection in combination with a bit of vellum.  Gotta love it all.

I hope this inspires you to look at all the Fall motive designs available at the Just Nick studio store.   Remember to link your projects to the store  when sharing them on social media.  We love to see what you are creating with the cut files.
I am always a comment away if you have any questions on how this came together.

Take care,

Summer Fun

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - SUMMER FUN -

Hi there!

It  feels like Summer does not want to leave Toronto, just yet!  Since, I cannot fight the weather, then better join it and make the best out of it.   So, i am going to scrap  a few of my summer memories in the next few days!!!

I created this background using Distress oxides and some Heidi Swapp colorshine.   There was no set idea on what i was going to  place on top, so i just had fun with some ink.

I found this picture of my daughter upset at the sun during one of our outings, and thought it fit my mood completely, so I set it on top of the mixed media, and layered pieces of fussy cut flowers, and ephemera at clusters in 2 corners of the picture.  The title came from on the of the cards from the SUMMER FUN collection from Echo Park (which is featured in this layout) that i picked up from Scrapbook Nerd On line store.

To complete the visual triangle of this page, i added a small cluster of embellishments at the bottom of the picture.  Here  is the completed layout:

This layout summarizes how i feel about Summer...  It is gorgeous, but it is time to go!   I hope you use this as inspiration.  Remember to check Scrapbook Nerd for all the materials used in this project.  I am always a comment away if you have questions on how this came together.

Take care!

Let's Go Play

Scrapbook Layout created for The Cut Shoppe  - Let's Go Play -

Hello there!!

It is starting to look a lot like summer around here, I am even pulling pictures from previous summers to document using the fun  designs from the Cut Shoppe.

The waves were created by copying the image from the Make a Splash cut file, set to perforate, and then stitched with embroidery floss.  Once it was all stitched, a bit of watercolor completes the waves, and brings the color of the water from the picture.

The title of this piece comes from the Let's Talk Summer cut file.  The cut out was backed with papers from Echo Park's Summer  Fun collection, and completed with alphas from Shimelle's Little by Little collection.

The picture of the girls at the swimming pool is framed by the title, and lots of papers and ephemera form the collection, in addition with some pieces from the new Simple Stories Summer Days collection.  After adding a few lines of journal.  Here is the final layout

I love the  layout, it came together rather easily, even with the bit of stitching in it.  I hope this helps to prepare for the upcoming summer season.  The Cut Shoppe Etsy store is full of designs that can fit all your memory keeping.

Remember I am a comment away if you have questions on how this came together.

Thanks for stopping by!
