My Personal Journal - Traveler's notebook -

Traveler's Notes entries created for Clique Kits  - My Personal Journal -

Hello there,

Today I am  up on the Clique Kits blog with a few entries created in my personal journal using the PLAY kit.   This kit features Shimelle's Little by Little collection, and the coordinating embelishments.  In all the kit is colorful, beautiful and super versatile.

For my first spread,  i chose to work at an angle, using the Oasis collection alpha stamp, I created the lines of continued HELLO, at the end, I change the color ink and added BABY.  On the opposite page, i used the same angle to trim a piece of the kit's paper and add the picture of my cousin and his baby.   The embellishments all come from the kit and exclusive printables.

Like i said, the PLAY kit is so versatile, and it was possible to document a winter memory with the same kit.  I simply pulled some vellum from my stash, used the Cut Shoppe's Very Merry cut file to create the large snowflake on the vellum.  The vellum was then trimmed to fit the page with an extra half inch on the left side of the page.  This allows for the vellum to be folded and attached behind the large picture.  The next page has the b side of one of the papers in the collection along with some small notes created with the ephemera and kit exclusives.

I hope this serves as inspiration for you all.  Traveler's notebooks are a dream when it comes to journal keeping, and the PLAY kit was a great source of inspiration to document different everyday moments.

As always let me know if you have any questions.  Remember to check Clique Kits  for details on the PLAY kit and all the add-ons.

Thanks for visiting!

Stamp and Scrapbook Expo Designer Spotlight

Scrapbook Layout created for Stamp and Scrapbook Expo  - SMILE -

Hello friends!

I  hope you all are doing well.

Today, it is a super special day for me, as i finally get to share some super exciting news with you all.   A few months ago (a few days before my birthday), the ever sweet Paige Taylor Evans asked if she could feature me in her bi-weekly Designer Spotlight at Stamp and Scrapbook Expo blog.  I had just woken up to the message, and after drying my happy tears, I humbly accepted her offer.  Til this day, I feel so honored, humble and blessed to share my work with you all.  I am forever thankful to my God, for whom i work, and Paige Evans for taking the time to look at my body of work, and giving me this opportunity.

If you have seen  my work before, then you know that i love cut files, embroidery, watercolor, black and white photos, vellum, lots of white, and pretty paper.  I think this layout combines most of my favorite things, and my  goddaughter.

For this project, I chose one of my favorite cut files (but never used before), "I'll Fly Away", from the Cut Shoppe.   I backed the cut-out with papers from  Pink Paislee's Take Me Away and Fancy Free collections, and stitched the papers in place using embroidery floss that match the colors of the respective paper.  To add dimension to this page, i used the cut file to cut the butterflies out of white vellum, and stitched them on top of the backed image.

I love this picture of my goddaughter, so i layered pieces from the collections in small clusters around the picture, and used a mirror sticker for the title in the page.  I chose to hide my journal, by writing it on some of the butterflies backing papers, and then stitching the vellum on top of it.  Here is the final layout:

I am still pinching myself about seeing my work featured in the Stamp and Scrapbook Expo blog.   I am forever thankful to Paige for having picked me for the spotlight, and hope that you all stop by the Stamp and Scrapbook Expo blog to learn more about me, and see some of my favorite layouts ( it was hard to pick just 4).  just click here to be taken to the blog.

Thank you all for the continuous support, I am amazed that you take the time to see my work.  I really appreciate it.

Remember i am always a comment away if you have any questions, or just to say hello.

Thanks for visiting, today!

Clique Kits 2017 Design Team Blog Hop

Hello Crafty Friends!

I am so happy to welcome you to my blog (you are just arriving from Caroli's blog).    I am so thankful to the ladies at Clique Kits for this opportunity.  Today is your chance to get to know the new  Clique Kits 2017 Design Team;  we will be sharing a sample of our work, and some fun facts about each of us.

Here is the line up for today's blog hop:
Caroli Schulz  http:carolinaschulz.com
-->  Nathalie DeSousa  http://tachita55.blogspot.ca/  <---  you are here
Audrey Yeager  http://audreysreflection.blospot.ca/
Sheryl Banares  www.sherylbanares.com/

In case you don't know me, my name is Nathalie DeSousa (aka Tachita -my nickname since birth-).  I  am a stay-at-home wife and mom to two teenagers and an Boston terrier.   Now to some fun facts about me:

  •  What is your favorite color?  I love black (you will see a lot of black and white photography in my work), but i think my scrapbooking fave color is white with a sprinkle of rainbow in it  (I hope that makes sense).
  •  What is your favorite song right now?  Adele is always on my playlist, but Lady Gaga's "A Million Reasons" has been playing a lot lately around the house.
  • Who Inspires you?  I find inspiration everywhere, but my mom is a constant source of inspiration in life, and my crafty projects.
  • Favorite Book?  Reading is like air for me.  I read my Bible every day, and the Harry Potter collections a few times a year.
  •  Favorite Movie?  I love all kinds of movies, but one of my favorite movies of all times is an Argentinian movie, "El Hijo de la Novia" (The Son of the Bride),  If you ever come across it, watch it even though is in Spanish.
  • Favorite Snack?  This is easy,  dark  chocolate  - the darker the yummier
  • Favorite Food?   if cake is consider food, then Carrot Cake.
  • Where would you like to visit someday? It has always been my dream to go to Australia.
  • Who got you into scrapbooking?   I fell into this art when my kids were born, and i looked for ways to document their lives.
  • How many years have you been scrapbooking?   I have kept a journal for as long as I can remember, however once my kids were born, i started to document their lives.  Though when they were young, I barely had time to breathe.  That means i have done serious scrapbooking for the past 5 years.
  • Favorite Manufacturer?  I don't have a favorite manufacturer, honestly.  I just love pretty paper!!!

That was fun!  Now let me share what I have created for today's blog hop:

For this layout, i used Clique Kits's March kit, "PLAY", to document a picture/memory of my daughter on one of the trips to the hair stylist.   The beautiful colors in the kit along with the "Funky Florals" cut file from the Cut Shoppe, and some hand stitching created the background for the layout.

The picture of  daughter was framed using pieces from Clique Kits  "PLAY" kit, and a few extras from previous Clique Kits' s monthly kits.

I hope you like the project created for this hop, and you are inspired to get your hands onto the beautiful Clique Kits's kits.   Remember i am always available to answer any questions on how this layout came together, or if you just want to say hello!.
