Awesome Friends - Clique Kits Guest Designer Spot -

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kits as Guest Designer - Awesome Friends -

Hello there!,

It has been a great pleasure to have been invited by Clique Kits to be their July guest designer.  The beautiful kit was gorgeous, and so easy to work with.  For my last project for their blog, I am sharing a layout -that was created on the many car rides to and from my son's soccer tournament last weekend- that uses most of my favorite things: hand stitching, black and white pictures, cut files, and cut apart pieces...

I started by cutting the word 'Awesome' from one of the papers and gluing it to the colorful striped paper.  I then pierced the edge, and hand stiched the letters with embroidery thread that match the corresponding stripe where the letter was placed.

I am using a black and white picture, layered with some of the 4x4in cards in the kit and one of the glasine bags from the kit.  I added a few pieces of the  exclusive cut-aparts and small circle cut-out from the Cut Shoppe's Summer Circle cut file.

I added a  small cluster along the edge of the word, to add some interest to the page..

Finally, I added my journal lines, and some sequin to finish the layout.  Here is the completed layout...

Thanks for stopping by.

see you all soon!

Love Noted - Clique Kits Guest Designer spot

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kits (Guest Designer Spot)   - Love Noted -

Hello everyone!

I am so excited, grateful, honored, but above all blessed to have been invited as a Guest Designer for July over at Clique Kits.  I received the beautiful RASKOG kit (filled with Pinkfresh Studio's Life Noted collection goodies, their exclusive cut-outs, cards and sequin mix) a few days ago, and was strucked with inspiration and lots of ideas just by looking at the color palette on the papers.

The yellow Bazzil plastic paper was the perfect medium to cut the large word  for the centerpiece of the layout.   The cutfile used  (Every Day Essentials) comes from The Cut Shoppe.  I manipulated the cut file so that the "O" had a large empty space where I could place my picture.  The plastic paper was cut, and then an  internal offset to the shape was created, so that the papers  will cover the plastic paper edges, just showing the small details of the cut file.  I cut two pieces of paper (the back piece is simple paper) with the same measurements, glued the yellow cut-out in between the papers.  Here is small video on how the layout came together:

For the picture, I used the 'O' space to cut a smaller frame from both the papers, and glued it a copy of the picture to each  of the frames.  The idea of having the picture floating inside the 'o' was easy to construct by looping a piece of fine crochet yarn in between the two pictures, before gluing them  together.   I made sure that the looped yarn was long enough to come out of the top of the layout (this way i could hang it), and also be secured at the bottom in between the paper mats.

To secure the papers together, a sewing machine was used around all the cut edges of the layout.   I added a few extra pieces to complete the title, "Love Noted", along with some of the sequin mix from Spiegel Mom Scrap Shop exclusive for the kit...

I love creating little clusters around the page, so I placed a small cluster of Clique Kits exclusive cut apart pieces  along with some rubber and wood shapes,  Here I added my journal entry and the date of the picture.

At the end, I added a few more details  and continued to place it on a cork-backed frame.  I used a small tack to hang the layout from the loop created at the top of the layout.  Here is a look at the finished project -before being displayed-.

I really hope you like this page, and serves you as inspiration to  create a display for your home...
Once again,  I am thankful to Clique Kits for the opportunity

Till next time,

Happy Craftin'!

The Cut Shoppe "Getting To Know You" bloghop / Good Friends

The Cut Shoppe's "Getting to Know You" blog hop

Hello everyone, and welcome to the "Getting To Know You" blog hop!  I am still pinching myself, as it slowly starts to sink in that i am part of the design team for THE CUT SHOPPE,  and i am taking part on this blog hop.

....

For all those who are not familiar with me, my name is Nathalie (a.k.a.  Tachita,  my spanish nickname since birth, and what i am called at home).  I am blessed to be at a stay-at-home wife and mom to two teenagers and a fur baby.

How many times in a week, do you work on something scrapbook related?

I discovered scrapbooking when my kids were little, once they grew, I started  to take up scrapbooking more seriously, and now I use up all my nights and most of my free time creating visual memories for my family.  Every night you can find me working on projects for my albums, Scrapbook Nerd, and now The Cut Shoppe.

What’s your favorite subject to scrapbook?
My family and friends are my inspiration to capture memories, and create beautiful pages where i can document our life adventures.  My pages are full of my photos especially that of my kids -nieces and nephews included -,  even my fur baby has his own album...

What is your favorite color to use on your layouts/projects? What is your least favorite color?

I have different taste in colors, it all depends on what I am inspired at the moment, however, I tend to gravitate towards teal and pink shades with lots of white space around them... I still get intimidated by orange colors,  i always think pumpkin and halloween -but I am slowly learning to love it -.

Why do you like using cut files on your layouts/projects?

It wasn't until last Christmas that my family gifted me with a Silhouette Cameo, and  it was love at first cut for me.  I love how a simple cutfile can transform your ideas into a project with such ease and beauty.  I am still amazed on how the same cutfile can be used in many projects and always look brand new,  it makes for  inifinite possibilities.

What are some of your other favorite hobbies? If you were not a scrapbooker, what other hobby do you think would consume most of your time?
Though I love this craft, you can easily find me walking around with my camera in hand (I love photography), reading a book while enjoying some coffee, watching my son play soccer, crocheting, and/or baking treats whenever I need some extra inspiration  ( I am a certified Professional Baker )

Tell us 5 things we don’t know about you!
for all those who are just meeting me-:
1.    I have a Chemical Engineering Degree (left the profession to become a mom),
2.   I love dark chocolate (the darker and bitter, the better it tastes),
3.   I was a competitive swimmer as a child (now i am out of shape),
4.   I own a rather large shoe collection (i love them, even when i don't wear them),
5.   After over 25 years in Canada (speaking English 24/7) I still haven't lost my Spanish accent ;) .

Today, I am sharing with you a new layout  created using the new digital Sunny Side Up collection by Ashley Horton for the Cut Shoppe,  the Funky Floral cutfile and the Girls Wanna Have Fun cutfile from the Cut Shoppe for Scrapbook Nerd.  The combo of the digital collection and the cut files creates a beautiful frame for the pictures of one of my best friends and I at our 'breakfast date'.

The title was created using the Girls Wanna Have Fun designed by The Cut Shoppe for ScrapbookNerd.com

This layout was creaated using  The Cut Shoppe's Hello Sunshine collection.

The flower was created with the Funky Floral cut file from the Cut Shoppe
