Sweet Dreams Little One

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories-  Sweet Dreams Little One  -

Hello everyone! Nathalie with you today with a new layout that celebrates those sweet baby sleeping moments ( i so miss seeing my kids sleeping faces!).  The new Simple Stories  "OH, BABY!" collections are ideal to document all those sweet baby moments

To start this page, i drew a few stars on some of the patterned papers of the Oh, Baby! collection, and the Oh, Baby! Expecting collection,  backed them with white cardstock, and added a bit of hand stitching around the edges.

To create the title of the page, a JustNick Studio cut file was used.  All the letters of the cut out were backed using papers from the Oh, Baby! paper pad.  Having the smaller pattern of the large papers is perfect to combine and display a lot of color  in the title.  The chipboard sticker just completes the sentiment of the title and page.

I wanted to create a very soft look for this page, so I used a sheet of vellum to cover a light blue piece of cardstock, and added all the  the stars, picture and title on top of the vellum piece.

Just a few extra details were added to the picture and around the stars.  All those little star stickers are a easy way to complete the look of the page.   A few drops of gold ink were added to bring some shine to the page!

Love the softness of the page, and all the starry background is the perfect frame for my sweet sleeping cousin.  The new Oh, Baby! collections are ideal to document your parenting journey, and beyond!  Remember to chek them out at your local scrapbook store.
Well that is all for me for now.
XO

Beach Life!

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories  - BEACH LIFE!  -

This second project is all about reflecting our love for the beach using the colors of the Summer Days collection papers.   We recently took a month long vacation to my native Ecuador;  every time we visit my family, my kids only request is to be taken to the beach.  So i picked one of the pictures of my daughter and one of our cousins roaming the beaches of Mompiche (Ecuador) for this page.

This page started with the Heart is Full background cut file from JustNick Studio.  This time, i used the Hello Sunshine, and So Much Fun papers from the Summer Days collection to back the hearts in the cut out.  In addition, some of the hearts were backed with vellum.  Once all the hearts were backed, then the entire circle was backed with light blue vellum., so that it brings some of the sea color to the page.

The circle was then glued to the Sn@p Basic's Aspen/White Notebook design.  Using the different colors of the collection on the heart cut outs gives you the freedom to use some of the papers in the collection to back and layer the picture.

Can you tell i am loving the brads in this collection?   I think I have used at least 1 brad in each of the layouts i have created with the Summer Days collection - I have reordered brads for my stash!!-.  Once again, I used pieces from all the embellishments in the collection to create clusters at the corners of the picture.  In addition, I added a word sticker to each of the vellum hearts in the background.  This brings color and lots of interest around the page.

To complete the visual triangle, and to balance the page, I added a small cluster at the bottom left corner of the page. By simply layering elements from the Sticker combo, and 4x6 sticker sheets along with another one of the decorative brads, the clusters were created.  In addition a large piece of the Good Vibes washi tape along the bottom edge of the page balances the page to completion.

To complete the page, I used the alphas that are included in the 4x6 sticker sheets to complete the title of the page ( the color completely matched that of the sea water in the picture).   I love the fresh and clean feel of this page, and how it brings the color of picture to life!

This lovely and so fun, Summer Days collection is perfect to document all the glory of your summer day adventures!.  So don't forget to check it out.

Thank you for stopping by today, and don't forget to contact me if you have any questions on how these pages came together.   Have a great summer, and see you all soon!!!

You & Me

Scrapbook Layout created for Just Nick Studio  - YOU & ME -

Hello there!

I hope you all are enjoying these beautiful Summer Days (the current season here in Canada!).  After a long vacation to my native Ecuador, i am finally back home and loaded with lots of ideas, and memories to document.   For this particular picture of my cousin and my goddaughter, i used one of the newer cut files , Frilly Floral Frames, to create its soft and girly background.

My starting point was to create a grid design for the page, but once I started playing with the frames on my Silhouette software, I was drawn to the visual triangle the three frames formed around the picture.  So I went ahead, and welded the 3 frames together, to create the cut out for this page.

Once the cut out was created, i backed the flower in each corner with some of the papers from Cocoa Vanilla's Wild at Heart collection that was included in the May 2017 Clique Kits  monthly kit.

Since i wanted the layout very girly, i chose to use one of the papers from the collection as the background for the page.   The watercolor  design in the page brings the details in the white cut outs.  In addition, a layer of white vellum was added to the squares (as a layer behind the cut out) just to the sections where the square do not intersect.

Using a paper piercing tool, a stitching guide was created around the edges of the squares. Three different color embroidery thread was used  to stitch the frames, so that they match the colors in the background paper.

For the title of this page, the "You Make Me Smile" cut file was used to stitch the "You & Me" sentiment to the page.  Once the stitching was completed, a bit of shimmer watercolor complete the look of the title.   This same watercolor was used to create the splatters around the page.

I really hope this inspires you to take a look at the new designs available at the Just Nick Studio store.  The versatility of each of the designs will allow you to create a one-of-a-kind project.

Remember, I am a comment away if you have further questions on how this came together.

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Bold layout series #2: Shine Bright & Smile

Scrapbook Layout  -  SHINE BRIGHT & SMILE -

Hello there!

As the year is winding down, we all start looking back at what we have accomplish through the year.  Since both my kids are Christmas babies, I spent the day looking at pictures of them throughout the year.   So,  I thought I create a layout for each of them  just as a reflection of our love for each of them.

To create this  layout i am using Clique Kits's December kit - Wonderland-.   If you follow my work, then you will know I love vellum!!, and the Moonstruck vellum in this month's kit was perfect to what i had in mind.   To create the background, I stitched the vellum to a 12x12 in white card stock page.

I printed the picture in a 8.5x11 in sheet, and layered fun foam behind the picture;  however i created a small pocket where i could hide my journal card -for this i used one of the glassine bags from the Wonderland kit package.  I simply glued the bag to the back of the picture, making sure it is located at the top left corner of the picture-.

Once I glued the picture to the mat, i used one of the journal cards from the Moonstruck collection die cuts to write a lengthy note to my son.  I stitched the small tab to the top of the card to make sure that it can be pulled out using it.   The rest of the die cuts, and stickers all come from the Wonderland Kit.

To continue the clean and bold look of the page, i used pieces from the Moonstruck die cut pack, and a cut file (whenever i am using the Cameo with a large cut file that will use more of the 12x12 in area, I add small words or icons that i could use in another project, and put it aside ) to create the title.   A few of the Wonderland kit exclusives were added to  complete the clean look of the page,  Here is the completed layout:

I love the bold and large design of this page.  It came together in a small amount of time, all due to the beautiful papers and add-ons  the Clique Kits' Wonderland collection had to offer.  Trust me you want to get this kit as it can work for both boys and girls layouts.  If you have time, just check the previous entry on this series to see how the kit was used to create bold layouts of my teens and my baby!.

Hello Fall

Scrapbook Layout created for The Cut Shoppe   - HELLO FALL -

Hello there!

Today, I am on the Cut Shoppe's blog with this layout that highlights my love for AUTUMN.   When Ashley shared with us the upcoming cut-files, i knew that the "Leaf Pile" background was going to be a great background.

To start, i altered the 8.5x11in cut file a bit - so that it fit into a 12x12 mat -, and deleted the details in every other leaf, as I wanted to add stitching instead. I cut the file on cream card-stock, and used watercolors and mists to try and recreate the colors of the leaves.

I used vellum to back the leaves the leaves's cutout, and a  multicolor  embroidery floss to stitch the design inside the leaves.  I love the contrast and softness on the page.   The entire background was then adhered to a Simple Stories Wood grain paper using adhesive foam ( i love the dimension on the page).

For the title,  pulled some toner paper, and used my MInc machine to foil it rose-gold. I used the Oakley Ave.  cut file to create the title for  the page, making sure that the letters showed the ombre color effect (just like the leaves).

I kept the details on the picture rather simple (this was the first leaf i found in the fall).  I pulled as many ephemera pieces i could find from my stash, and most come from Simple Stories' Life in Color collection.  Here is the final layout:

Not that i am biased, but i love this layout.  I love that it combines my style to a tee;  it combines cut files, there is watercolor, stitching, vellum, foil, and simple details on picture.  I hope you like it, too. Don't forget to visit the Cut Shoppe's Etsy store to pick these and the many more new cut files that are always added to the store.

Thanks for visiting today.

See you all soon!

World Card Making Day 2016 (Clique Kits)

Cards created for World Card Making Day 2016  -on line crop- for Clique Kits.

Hello,

In case you didn't know, today is World Card Making Day, and the new Clique Kit's design team is holding an on-line crop live on its Facebook page, THE CLIQUE.   We will be giving away prizes, to a lucky member who completes our challenges, plus you can collect all the sketches and cut files used in the Clique Kits store, and throughout the crop time.

For my time slot, I will be using this sketch designed by Maryam Perez (the youngest member of the Clique Kits DT ) to create a card for my challenge Cut File and Vellum.

For this card, I am using the beautiful Sapphire kit from Clique Kits, a cut file (available at the Clique kits facebook page, and some vellum).

For the first card, i followed the sketch to the last detail.   Here is the card:

Since I was left with the negative pieces of the cut-file, I used them to create another card using the sketch as inspiration, here is the second card created:

For the second card, i used some back stitching in the place of the cut lines, and used a banner with a mirror piece as my sentiment.

I hope you will join me, and the rest of the design team, as we go live as of 9 am CST.  If you would like to purchase the kit, please visit Clique Kits (you can use the code NATHALIE10, to get 10% off your purchases).

Thanks for visiting today, and

Happy Card Making Day!

World Card Making Day 2016 (Scrapbook Nerd)

Card created for Scrapbook Nerd (World Card Making Day 2016).

Hello there,

Today we celebrate World Card making Day!

I am not a full time card-maker, but I do enjoy making them.   To celebrate today's special occasion, Scrapbook Nerd is holding an on-line crop.  Here is the link to the forum where you will find all the challenges, sketches and prizes.

My card is a combination of  some of my favorite techniques: watercolor, cut files and embossing.

I started by creating a background on watercolor paper with my new Prima palettes (i love them!).   While it dried, I used a stamp to emboss my sentiment on heavy vellum.

I used Clique Kits September kit to create the dreamcatcher cut-out, that is the centerpiece of the card.   Using foam adhesive, i added dimension to the card.   I used a second piece of vellum to mat the watercolor background, before attaching it completely to the card.  Here is the final card:

You are welcomed to visit Scrapbook Nerd forum to see what the rest of the design team created for this date.

Till next time!
