Day Dreamer

Scrapbook Layout created for Citrus Twist Kits  -  DAY DREAMER -

Hello everyone!  It is Sunday, which means time for a new Sketch , and this one is such a fun and versatile one.

Gotta love all those layers behind the picture.  Well,  I used this month's Malibu Scrapbooking, and Embellishment kits to create my take on this week's sketch.

Sketches are a great starting point for projects, and  i chose to remain true to the sketch after flipping it 90 degrees.

All the layers behind the picture are created following the ones in the sketch.   I even used the Circle Punch Cut file to create the layer that sit behind the picture from one of the papers in the Scrapbook main kit.

I was so excited to see the small music sheet in the Malibu Main Kit, and used it in this page to convey the sentiment of the picture.   The pink tulle also was added as a layer behind the picture.

To bring a bit of texture to the page, i added some mixed media so that it just peeks from under the paper cluster.

The only difference between the sketch and my page (besides the rotation) is that i replace the long thin strip of paper for the gold puffy leaves from Crate Paper's Flourish collection that are included in the main kit.    The following video will show you how this page came together:

Now it is your turn to be inspired to create a new project using this week's Sketch.  I cannot wait to see your take on this sketch!  Remember to use today's date when sharing your creations on the CTK Fans Facebok Page, or by tagging #CitrusTwistKits when sharing  your creations on social media.

Have an awesome week!

NSD - CTK challenge

Scrapbook Layout created for Citrus Twist Kits  - POOL FUN -

Hi there!

Welcome to my blog, and Happy 2nd or 3rd day of iNSD (it has been a fun weekend!)   I am so excited to take part in this year's Citrus Twist Kits NSD festivities.  So many challenges and inspiration being shared on their Facebok Fans page, and now it is our turn -Jennie is my partner in this challenge- to host the Mixed Media challenge.

I was so happy to receive this challenge, what can I say, I love getting "messy" (wink wink) on my layouts. So i  pulled the beautiful and bold Malibu Scrapbook, and embellishment kits to create this page about my niece's love for the pool (trust me whenever she visits we spent lots of hours in the backyard pool)

I wanted to bring splashes of water to the page, so I chose to work on watercolor paper, and simply add splatters of watercolor and shimmer watercolor in different shades of blue to form the background of this page.

This month's kits feature Crate Paper's Wild Heart collection, and the patterns in the papers and ephemera are perfect to document all types of memories, especially summer ones.

So i just layered a few pieces of the papers behind the picture, and then added clusters of ephemera to the corners of the picture.   There are so many cool pieces in the main and Embellishment kits that it was so easy to put these clusters together.

To create the title, i simply added a bit of the water to the bottom corner of the page -diagonal to the picture- and then cut a strip of the background, and replace it with the beautiful Pineapple Crush paper that is included in the main kit.  The title was then formed using some of the die cuts, from the Wild Heart collection,  and the new Alpha Stamp (all subscribers who switch their account to the new website, and all new subscriber will receive or have already received it).

Just love the happy and summer feel of this page.  I went for simple but "messy"(wink, wink)  look for this page, and totally love it!

Now it is your turn to try adding a bit of mixed media to your next page, and then add your project to the CTK fans page on Facebook.

Now don't forget to join in the little bonus challenge - all you have to do is visit all the DT's blog or IG posts to collect their Blog Hop Bonus Word.  Pop into the CTK website to collect the daily word there. Once you have all 23 words, email the list to Trina, and you could be the winner of a $50 Gift certificate to the Store!

If you saw my wink wink, then you know my little word is "MESSY" because well, I like messy colorful backgrounds for my layout (i know not all of you are into magical messes, but i love them!)

Thank you so much for visiting my blog, and  i hope you have enjoyed this NSD weekend!  I cannot wait to see what colorful mess you create for your pages.

XOXO

Stay Wild

Scrapbook Layout created for Citrus Twist Kits  - STAY WILD -

Hi there,

It is time to share a new layout created with this month's Malibu kit from Citrus Twist Kits.   The kits are packed with papers from the new Crate Paper Wild Heart collection, and Heidi Swapp Pineapple Crush collections.   So much to choose from, so i decided to mix a few of the kits to create this messy but fun page.

My idea was to add mixed media and lots of layers behind the picture of my kids in a cheeky pose.  So i pulled some modelling paste, and added some texture to the background, followed by some watercolor, and then acrylic inks.  Did I mention I was going for messy for this page!!

While that dried, I started to work on the layers behind the picture, so I reached for the main, and patterned paper kit to start building the large cluster.

The new digitals available at the Citrus Twist store are perfect to add those extra layers in between papers, and also to add sentiments to the page.   Trust me, i jsut layered lots of paper and ephemera behind the picture.

As the background dried, the cardstock was curling from all the mixed media on it, so i stitched it to a paper from the kit on a slant, so that it created an angle on the page.   Then distressed the cardstock a bit, and added another cluster just to complete the page.  Here is the final layout:

Just loved how this turned out, messsy and all!  Perfect to document that particular memory of my kids trying to be funny!

I hope you stop by the new Citrus Twist Kits blog, and check all the new kits.    There are so many new add ons and digitals being added.

As always let me know if you have questions on how this came together.

see you soon!
