My Travel Journal

Traveler's Notebook Spread created for Clique Kits -  MY TRAVEL JOURNAL -

Hello there!

It is challenge time over at Clique Kits.   And this month it is all about washi tape, and the  fun sketch by Kristine Davidson.

I am not big on sketches, though they are helpful and handy when your mojo is low,  but i thought this can easily be adapted to a TN, and could fill the washi challenge easily, too.

I started by covering one of the sides of the TN with the Fancy Pants  papers from the kit, then backed the picture with one of the cards from the Wish You Were  Here collection, which is featured in this month's TN kit.   I tried to follow the sketch, so I trimmed the picture to match the ratio of the ones shown in the sketch.

To finish this side of the sketch, i added a cluster to the lower corner of the page made up of ephemera pieces, this month's exclusive cut printables, and a washi tape heart.

Now it was time to complete the other side of the spread, and i chose to add the washi tape lines instead of journal lines to the top corner of the page.   I think i was true to the design in this side of the page, but i had to alter the sketch a bit, since i added my journal lines where the 3rd picture was located.  Here is the final page:

It was so easy to use the sketch to come up with this TN spread.   I think if you apply the principals of scrapbooking on a mini format, then you are good to go!

To check more details on this month's challenge, stop by the Clique kits blog, there is a prize for a lucky entry at the end of the month.  As always, leave me a comment if you have any questions on how this came together.

Take care!

Enjoy Life

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapboook Nerd   - ENJOY LIFE -

Hello there!

It is Summer Camp time over at Scrapbook Nerd.  Each year the ladies run a month long on line crop  for all their followers.  Of course there is always prizes, and giveaways. This year, I  will also be challenging the store followers with a few fun challenges.  The first one is called "TIME FOR TIE DYE".

I was inspired to work on this layout when i saw the new Jillibean Soup collection  - Bowl of Dreams-.  So I set to play on watercolor paper with some of the Prima Marketing  watercolors - The Tropicals set-.     Oncec the watercolor dried, a bit of gold texture paste was added using the new Echo Park stencil.

The title of this page was created from a cut file from the Silhouette store. I stitched the title using the colors of the tie dye background, and glued the title to the page using strong adhesive.  Here is another close up of the layout:

I kept the rest of the layout simple, so I chose a picture of my mom and daughter on one of our walks, and used some of the papers and embellishments from the collection to layer and frame the picture.

A few lines of  journal, and a mat for the layout were the final touches.  Here is what the final layout looks like:

The colors in the background remind me of a tie dyed shirt, plus they are bright and cheery, perfect for a  Summer Camp challenge.

I hope you can join us at Scrapbook Nerd Friends and Family Facebook page to join in the challenges.  Remember, I am a comment away for any questions you  may have on the layout.

See you all soon!

Dream Big

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kits   -  DREAM BIG  -

Hello there!

Today, I am pulling double duty on a few blogs.   This time, the project created is for  Clique Kits using the beautiful Aquarelle Kit.  I have loved working with this kit, as it features the gorgeous Wild at Heart collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio.     I have created a small process video on how this page came together, so sit down and enjoy a super condensed process:

The background of this project was created using a few of the Prima Marketing watercolor palettes.  Though the orientation of the original design changed as the layout progress,  the colors in the background bring the project to life.

Using the Clique Kits's January 2016 exclusive cut file, some butterflies were cut from white cardstock and vellum;  the rest of the butterflies come from the Mariposa paper in the collection.   Each cut out was backed with vellum , and machine sewn into the layout.

Once the butterflies were in place, a cluster was created on the very top of the page.  This completes the path created by the background, and it is the start of the visual triangle on this page.

I love to keep track of the kids development using a fixed object.  This time both my niece and daughter purchased the same bracelet.  "DREAM BIG" is what is spelled by the beads, so i chose to photograph their development using the bracelet as the focus point.   To bring the photograph to focus, just a few pieces from the collection, and exclusive printables were used in clusters around the page.

Finally, the title of this page was created using the copper Alphas from Pinkfresh Studio that are included in the kit.   After a few more small details, and a few journal lines, here is the final layout:

It is the simplicity of this page that is so attracting to me, not to mention is full of butterflies -one of my favorite things, ever-.   Remember to visit Clique Kits for the kits, cut files and exclusives used in this page.

I am always a comment away if you have questions on how this came together.

Thanks for stopping by today!

My Personal Journal

Traveler's Notebook Spread created for Clique Kits  - MY PERSONAL JOURNAL -

Hello crafty friends!!

Nathalie here with  some new entries on my personal journal -my TN- inspired by the beautiful Aquarelle kits (main and TN).   This month's TN kit features the beautiful "Wildflower" collection from Kaisercraft, as well as plenty of embellishments, and exclusive printables that make memory keeping so easy and pleasurable.

Aquarelle TN

Since the weather is finally changing here in Toronto, I am taking advantage of long doggie walks around the Humber River path behind my house.  The papers in the Aquarelle TN kit were perfect to document the beauty of Spring in the city.  Here is a small video on how this page came together:

It took less than 10 minutes to put this page together.   I picked one of the papers in the kit, and used both sides to cover both pages of the TN ( each page features a side of the paper).

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-4  I picked my 3 favorite pictures of the walk, and printed them in a film strip form using Lightroom.  This was then glued to one of the pages of the TN -i chose the one with a less busy pattern on it-.   Pieces from the Aquarelle TN Kit's die cuts and exclusives were used to decorate the page   CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-3

The exclusive printables in this month's Aquarelle TN kit  are perfect to add small details around the page.  In this particular case,  one of the cards houses all the details of my walk around the river path.  Here is the final spread:

The color combination of the papers in the Aquarelle TN Kit was perfect to document all this Spring memories, and it took less than 10 minutes to complete the spread.  It is that easy to work with this kit.

If you are a subscriber to both  Main and TN kits, then this month's pizza box  is going to be a dream for all memory keepers. Since you can easily incorporate bits and pieces from both kits in your projects.    Here is an example of how I combined pieces of both kits to complete the spread of our favorite Mother's Day portrait, just sit down, and enjoy the video:

We love this picture, and i  wanted it to be prominent on my memory keeping system, so I chose to enlarge the image to fit the entire TN spread.    First i cut the picture in half so that i can easily glue to the TN.

  CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-11

Before gluing the right side of the picture, a small pocket was created behind the picture, so that it can hold a tag  (from the Aquarelle main kit exclusive printables) with all the journal lines about this memory.

  CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-10

To complete embellishing this page, one of the fabric tags, included in the Aquarelle main kit, along with a die cut from the TN kit were glued to the top corner of the left side of the page.  The arrow clip was then used to hold these pieces together,  and a small asterisk from the main kit Alphas complete this cluster.

Finally one of the labels from the Aquarelle TN kit's exclusive printables was used to add the date and place of the picture.  The copper Pinkfresh Studio alphas was then used to create the title of this page.  Here is the complete spread:

  CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-7

This is by far one of my favorite spreads of the past 2 weeks in my spread.  The texture from the different embellishments from both Aquarelle kits just adds the perfect touches to the picture.  If you haven't checked the kits, there are still a few available at the Clique store, and you better rush to pick yours.

Remember i am a comment away if you have any questions on how these came together.

My Girls

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kits  -  MY GIRLS  -

Hello there!

Today, I am up on the Clique Kits blog with a new project featuring the gorgeous Aquarelle kit that features Cocoa Vanilla Studio's Wild at Heart collection.  I am in  love with all the watercolor floral designs in the papers, and though I shed tears over fussy cutting the paper, I just had to work a project with them.  Here is a small video on how the page came together:

I hope you enjoyed the video!!.   It took some time to detail all the flower cuts, so I gave you the condensed fast forward version of the process.

It all started with the creation of the shaker element for this page.   Two same size circles of light coral/pink cardstock and vellum, as well as the outline of the circumference (cut from white cardstock) were stitched together.  Before closing the pocket, some of the Clique Kits' Sorbet Kit Special Sequin Mix was added to the inside of the pocket.

Before attaching the shaker element to the mat, I used a bit of white acrylic paint to mute the design a bit, so that all the florals, and embellishments will not get lost with the background.   After gluing the shaker pocket, and picture, I used a large number of fussy cut flowers to frame the circle and picture in the layout.

The exclusive printables from the kit, as well as the " Fussy Cut" page from the collection were used to create the clusters around the picture.  The title for this page comes from the thin Pinkfresh Studio alphas (which are also included in the Aquarelle kit).  After adding a few journal lines, and some gold ink drops, the layout was finished,  here it is:

Love, love, love the final look of this layout.  The colors on the florals are rich, and plain beautiful;  plus the  exclusive printables, and sequins from Clique Kits just complement this project. I hope you are inspired to create a shaker element for your pages!   Remember I am comment away if you have questions on how this came together.

Thanks for stopping by!

My Personal Journal

Traveler's Notebook Entries created for Clique Kits - MY PERSONAL JOURNAL -

Hello there!
Today, I am up on the Clique Kits Blog bringing you a few entries of my personal journal created using the beautiful ( it is truly a gorgeous!)  Aquarelle main kit.
For the first entry was created with a combination of the Aquarelle kit, and the September 2015 exclusive printables.   Here is  a small video on how the page came together:

The picture (of the day) was enlarged to fit into one of the pages of the TN (4.25x8.25 in).  After gluing it to the page, I added a few pieces (Pinksfresh Studio Alphas, and CK printables)  of the Aquarelle kit to the picture.

Since the picture has plenty of white space at the bottom, it was the perfect spot to add a few lines about the day's experience.

To balance the page, the large sentiment card in the September 2015 exclusive printables was machine sewn to a piece of white copy paper -cut to the TN's page size-.  One of the  small tabs was then glued to the card to complete the page, and stamp the date.  Here is the final spread:

The next entry in my personal journal uses the Double Dot paper included in the Aquarelle kit, along with some of the exclusive printables, and Pinkfresh Studio's Nico stamp  Here is a detailed video on how the spread came together:

This spread was so easy to create.  First, I found the center point of the TN page, and used it to cut a large triangle (that will cover the other page of the TN) out of the patterned paper.

The title for this spread was created on the paper covered page using a combination of  stamps (Pinkfresh Studio's Nico alpha, and Simple Stories Faith roller stamp), and the Pinkfresh Studio alphas included in the kit.

A few simple exclusive printables was all that was needed to complete this page, and balance the large triangle on the spread.  After a few lines of journal, and a  few more sentiments added with the roller stamp in  Faded Jeans ink -Distress Oxides- , the page was completed.   Here is the final spread:

Both pages were created in a really small amount of time (between 10-15 minutes), and I love the different looks, I was able to achieve with the Aquarelle kit, and the CK printables.
Remember to visit the Clique Store to check all the exclusive printables, cut files, and most materials used in this pages.  You can use the DT codes to receive a discount at checkout.  As always, I am a comment away if you have any questions on how this came together.
