My Personal Journal - MARCH BREAK

Hi there!!!

Nathalie here finally  rested after a busy week with my kids at home.   Though we couldn't go away for Spring/March Break this year (my son is about to graduate high school, and had to do quite a bit of work in preparation for his University applications), but that did not stop us from enjoying the week, and making the perfect "STAYCATION"

This month, I asked Trina to please include all the Lemon Drop  kits,  Pretty Things Add-on kit  and stamps in my box, and she also added the new Traveler's Notebook mini kit (Thank you, Trina!) which came in so handy to document all the mini adventures the week held.   This month's kits are so so beautiful, and so versatile that you can pretty much document all your daily adventures with them!

Created using the Lemon Drop Main, PL, Embellishment, and Pretty Things add-on kits

I used a mixture of all the kits to create the entries in my daily journal.  Since there was a large number of black and white embellishments included in the main kit,   I took advantage of  that to add color to my pictures.

All the envelopes that are included in this month's Traveller's Notebook mini kit are perfect to add extra pictures, journal cards, tags and souvenirs to your pages.  I chose to cut the flap of the  envelopes, so that they  can used them as pockets in these two entries.  Here i placed journal cards and extra photos of our daily adventures.

If you have seen my TN work before, then you will know that i try to stay away from chipboard and thick embellishments (as i don't want to add extra bulk to the page), but since i created this TN solely to document this week, i was happy to add the flair and lots of layered embellishments to the pages.  All the new Crate Paper's Here and There collection and Paige Evans Pick Me up complement the pictures of our daily activities.

Like mentioned before, this month's Lemon Drop kits are a dream to work with.  Their versatility makes is so easy to combine and mix as needed when documenting all your memories.   Here is a small video that showcases close ups of the Traveller's Notebook, so sit back, and enjoy the  music:

This little notebook tells the story of our March Break Staycation - the good, and the bad - and i love how easy it was to combine all this month's kits to bring color to a rather low key vacation.  Stop by the Citrus Twist Kits store to check all the kits (the Lemon Drop main kit has sold out, already!),   you will want to have them handy to document your adventures.   And just wait to see what is coming up in the next month!!!

That is all for me, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions on how this came together.

XOXO

Nathalie

My Summer Journal

Traveler's Notebook Spread created for Clique Kits  - MY  SUMMER JOURNAL -

Hi there!

Today marks my last day as part of the Clique Kits design team.   The past year has been one of the greatest experiences, creative wise.   And i will be forever thankful to Gia, Erica, Lacey and Nicole for having invited me to be part of  the team.  LOVE u ladies!!

Today is pep rally day for the Sundance kit!, which means we get to share with you all what we have been working on with the beautiful Sundance Kit.   Since I got the TN kit this month, I chose to document a picture of one of our car rides.  I started with the idea of creating a hybrid page, so I used Photoshop to create the journal page, by adding one of the ck printables as the letterhead of the page.

Next I typed up the journal lines, and added the sticker from the Wish You Were Here collection at the bottom of the page.   This was then glued to a piece of paper from the Creekside collection that had been trimmed to fit the TN's page.

For the picture, I went bold, and used Photoshop to edit, and add an Ali Edwards Digital Stamp on it.   I made sure to print the page to fit the TN size, and glued it to the notebook,   A little bit of foam adhesive adds a bit of lift to the little ephemera piece on the page.  Here is the completed spread:

I love how simple and bold this page is,  Sometimes all you need is a story, and a bit of editing to complete the page.  Remember to check Clique Kits and  instagram to see what the DT, and subscribers have been creating with this month's  Sundance Kit.

Let me know if you have questions on how this came together.

See you all soon!

My Travel Journal

Traveler's Notebook Spread created for Clique Kits -  MY TRAVEL JOURNAL -

Hello there!

I am still working on finishing my travel journal, though i have mapped each one of the pages, and have the journal lines in place for each, i am still to print the pictures, and so on.     Thankfully this month's Clique Kits' Sundance TN kit is packed with lots of goodies from Ashley Horton's Wish You Were Here collection for Pretty Little Studio.    I had purchased a few pieces from this collection, as they are versatile to document all kinds of memories.   Let me show you how i worked the first page of my Travel Journal with this kit.

Ashley Horton has designed a free cut file,  "LET'S GO", and i thought it will be perfect as the cover backflap for my Travel Journal, so I used my Cameo to sketch the design, and used a paper piercer to create the stitching guide for the design.  An hour of stitching completed the page.

The colors in the stitching match those of the entire paper collection.  But  just to complete the page, i added a small word sticker -with a bit of foam  adhesive backing- to  the center of the go, and the title was then formed.  I used a lot of double sided tape to glue the page to the cover of the traveler's notebook.

Next, I cut one of the cards  so that i can stretch it to fit into my midori.   I used the blank space to add my picture, along with a few pieces of ephemera from the kit, and the CK exclusives.

I love that i was able to finally put together the cover page of my Travel Journal.   The stitched cover, and the card is perfect to document the picture of our boarding passes. I am in love with the colors and textures.

I hope this inspires you to take a look at the Sundance kit at Clique Kits.   It truly is beautiful.  Remember to let me know if you have any questions on how this came together.

See you all soon!

My Summer Journal

Traveler's Notebook Spread created for Clique Kits - MY SUMMER JOURNAL -

Hello there!

I hope you all are enjoying the last days of summer.   We are ready to go back to school, here in Toronto,  next week.. YAY!!  But since our break has been packed with so many adventures, i have been keeping  a Summer Journal.  I love memory keeping, and the new Sundance Kit from Clique Kits was perfect to document those small moments.

I cut one of the cards from the Prettly Litte Studio's "Wish You Were Here" collection that was included in this month's kit.   I just followed the lines of the card, and obtained the corner triangles that were glued to the corners of one of the pages.

I used the corners of the triangles as guiding lines to attach the picture to the page, and added small details on the picture, and strips with the typed journal.

I wanted to tie in the outdoor feel of the picture to the lines in the page, so i chose to use my editing software to create my own patterned paper.   I simply copied some of this month's  CK exclusive printables -as the colors matched those of the lines in the triangles-.   Then a few pieces from the kit, and the little stamp from Altenew complete the page:

I love how the color palette of the page marries the lines and the wreaths with the picture of my litlles playing outside.   And it all came together in no time!  Remember to check the Clique Kits website to see all that is included in the Sundance kit, either main or TN,  you will love it!

If you have any questions on how this came together, remember to leave me a comment.

Take care,

My Personal Journal

Traveler's Notebook spread created for Clique Kits  - MY PERSONAL JOURNAL -

Hello everyone from beautiful Ecuador!

Yeah, as this goes live, my family and I are enjoying a long vacation down in beautiful Ecuador,  but enough about me and this beautiful place.    Today is challenge day over at Clique Kits, which means all followers will have a month to create a project of their choice and link it to the Clique Kits blog for a chance to win a prize.

I have been enjoying working with July's kits (both main and TN), so I chose to highlight the TN kit for this entry.  Since I have many pictures of my God daughter in her cake smash session, I chose to combine both for this spread.

To create the background of the page, I peeled the negative part of the Ain't Life Grand Stickers and stuck it to the blank page of the TN.

I attached the picture of the baby to the top of the page, above the sticker negative, and added the cupcake paper clip to represent the cake smash.  Next I used some of the stickers from the sheet, and place them randomly on the page, making sure that they were set at the junction of the color shapes.  To complete the page, some of the exclusive cut outs were attached to the bottom corner of the page, along with the word "Smile" from the Ain't Life Grand ephemera pack included in the kit.

To balance the page, and continue with the label look of the page, I photocopied the sheet of labels from the Ain't Life Grand collection , and attached it to the page.  Here I glued one of the journaling cards from the same collection included in the kit.  A few of the exclusive printables complete the page.  Here is the final spread:

The colorful boxes work great behind the picture -even when there is a lot of color on the picture, too-.  All the color in this kit is so perfect for all summer memories.  I even brought the kit with me on vacation.

Remember to  check Clique Kits for all the details on this month challenge, and to check the beautiful July kits, they are beautiful!

I am always a comment away if you have questions about this project.

Take Care!

Traveler's Notebook Spread created for Clique Kits  - MY PERSONAL JOURNAL -

Hello crafty friends!!

Nathalie here with  some new entries on my personal journal -my TN- inspired by the beautiful Aquarelle kits (main and TN).   This month's TN kit features the beautiful "Wildflower" collection from Kaisercraft, as well as plenty of embellishments, and exclusive printables that make memory keeping so easy and pleasurable.

Aquarelle TN

Since the weather is finally changing here in Toronto, I am taking advantage of long doggie walks around the Humber River path behind my house.  The papers in the Aquarelle TN kit were perfect to document the beauty of Spring in the city.  Here is a small video on how this page came together:

It took less than 10 minutes to put this page together.   I picked one of the papers in the kit, and used both sides to cover both pages of the TN ( each page features a side of the paper).

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-4  I picked my 3 favorite pictures of the walk, and printed them in a film strip form using Lightroom.  This was then glued to one of the pages of the TN -i chose the one with a less busy pattern on it-.   Pieces from the Aquarelle TN Kit's die cuts and exclusives were used to decorate the page   CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-3

The exclusive printables in this month's Aquarelle TN kit  are perfect to add small details around the page.  In this particular case,  one of the cards houses all the details of my walk around the river path.  Here is the final spread:

  CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-2

The color combination of the papers in the Aquarelle TN Kit was perfect to document all this Spring memories, and it took less than 10 minutes to complete the spread.  It is that easy to work with this kit.

If you are a subscriber to both  Main and TN kits, then this month's pizza box  is going to be a dream for all memory keepers. Since you can easily incorporate bits and pieces from both kits in your projects.    Here is an example of how I combined pieces of both kits to complete the spread of our favorite Mother's Day portrait, just sit down, and enjoy the video:

We love this picture, and i  wanted it to be prominent on my memory keeping system, so I chose to enlarge the image to fit the entire TN spread.    First i cut the picture in half so that i can easily glue to the TN.

  CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-11

Before gluing the right side of the picture, a small pocket was created behind the picture, so that it can hold a tag  (from the Aquarelle main kit exclusive printables) with all the journal lines about this memory.

  CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-10

To complete embellishing this page, one of the fabric tags, included in the Aquarelle main kit, along with a die cut from the TN kit were glued to the top corner of the left side of the page.  The arrow clip was then used to hold these pieces together,  and a small asterisk from the main kit Alphas complete this cluster.

  CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-9    CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-8

Finally one of the labels from the Aquarelle TN kit's exclusive printables was used to add the date and place of the picture.  The copper Pinkfresh Studio alphas was then used to create the title of this page.  Here is the complete spread:

  CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-7

This is by far one of my favorite spreads of the past 2 weeks in my spread.  The texture from the different embellishments from both Aquarelle kits just adds the perfect touches to the picture.  If you haven't checked the kits, there are still a few available at the Clique store, and you better rush to pick yours.

Remember i am a comment away if you have any questions on how these came together.

   Thanks for stopping by!
