SUNKISSED DREAM - Scrapbook Nerd

Hi there!
This week the CT at Scrapbook Nerd has been challenged to create projects inspired by a color moodboard.   The colors are vibrant and very summery, so i decided to apply them to a new layout all about one of our Summer Trips a couple years ago.

I started by adding a mixture of Blue Hawaiian, Saltwater Taffy and white paint to the background to bring color to the page.   Once it dried, i used papers from the It's All Good -Dear Lizzy-, Saturday Afternoon -1Canoe2-, Flower Market -Carta Bella- collections to back and layer behind the picture, and attached it to the background with foam adhesive.

Cut outs from Handipaper were layered along the pictures, and then clusters of ephemera from the same collections were added to the picture.  The title was created using chipboard stickers from 1CAnoe2 collection.

The page was trimmed on its right edge, and then the background was backed with a patterned paper from the Saturday Afternoon collection.   A small cluster of ephemera was then added along this edge to complete the diagonal design of the page.  A few enamel dots from various collections were added along the page.  Here is the final layout

I love the simplicity and graphic design of the page.   My choice to focus on the background so that it creates that soft shadowing effect on the page was key for this layout.  The following video will show you how it all came together:

Hello Love

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbok Nerd - HELLO LOVE -

Hello there!

This week, Scrapbook Nerd is hosting an online crop, and we have issued challenges to the followers using our weekly project.   My challenge is all about creating a monochromatic layout.

it all started with a color cardstock background, a bit of white acrylic paint was added to first followed by ink in the same color family as the cardstock. While the background set, floral images were fussy cut from the Blissful paper from the Kaisercraft's Blessed collection.

The picture was matted and layered with papers that have the same tones as the background,  and attached to the background with foam adhesive.  All the florals were then glued to create clusters around the page.  Small embellishments were then added to clusters, keeping the same colors as the background.

For the title, i used a large chipboard phrase stickers and brought accents of shine using gold stickers, and inks. A few drops of white ink complete this page.

This came together so easily, and i love the soft look of the page.  Remember to check the Scrapbook Nerd store for all the materials used, and do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions about how this came together.

Her Time

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  -  HER TIME -

Hi there!

it has been a very surreal week for our family, and i totally almost forgot to share this week's inspiration for Scrapbook Nerd.

I was totally inspired by this Ina Moreva cut file to create a dimensional layout( i love dimension).  So i manipulated the cut file a bit to obtain a group of flowers and then added a few extra flowers to the center of some of them.

Once the background was cut, i used a bone folder and a sculpting ball tool to give the petals of each flower a bit of movement.

Next I backed each of the flowers with papers from 1Canoe2 Twilight collection (love the colors of the collection!).I used the wooden buttons of the collection to add centers for the larger flowers, and then used some French knots to add some texture to the center of the smaller flowers,

I added a few more stitching details to bring attention to the picture, this time i chose to stitch the flying pattern of some of the fussy cut moths from one of the papers from the collection.

Then added the picture and a few of the rub on fireflies next to it, as to mark the spot for the title of this page.

Since i wanted to keep everything very soft, i  just added a few small elements to the picture, all from the collection, and a few lines of  journal to complete this page.

LOVE how this turned out,  the dimension and colors of this page are perfect for the soft picture of my daughter.  Super simple, and love all the clean look of the page.

Remember to stop by Scrapbook Nerd to check all the materials used in this page.

Take care!

Adventure Awaits

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  -  ADVENTURE AWAITS  -

Hi there!

There are so many beautiful paper collections arriving at my doorstep, and I love them, but there are those special collections that keep you coming back, and this is the case of 1Canoe2 Creekside collection.  So I decided to create this page for Scrapbook Nerd using a bit of mixed media and some of the collection.

A bit of watercolor from one of Prima Marketing's palette (Odyssey) was used to create the background.   Then the wood texture stamp from Kaisercraft and some brown archival ink were used to create the wood texture on top of the watercolor.   Just love the background!!!

Next, I fussy cut the wood-like colored roses from the collection's paper,  and clustered them at the corners of the picture so that they form a diagonal on the page. Along the way,  I added a few stickers and die cuts from the collection to  add some more color to the page.

To balance the page, a small cluster was created using stickers from the collection.  A bit of the background was also repeated on this corner of the page so that the look is coherent on the page.  A few stamped images using a Citrus Twist Kits stamp complete this page:

Can I say that i love how this page  came together, and the monochromatic look of the page with those small pops of color.   Just love the look of the page.

Stop by Scrapbook Nerd to check all the materials used in this layout (all come from the store, they are great at ordering in stuff for you!). Remember i am a comment away if you have questions on how this was put together.

Take care!

Wild & Free

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd   - WILD & FREE  -

Happy New Year to you all!

Today, I am sharing a new layout created for Scrapbook Nerd.  Since it is so cold here in Toronto, I dug a summer picture of my littles, and the beautiful 1Canoe2 Creekside collection to create this layout.

It all started by enlarging this picture to letter size, and then  attached it to one of the papers from the collection.   I used the washi tapes as a layer under the papers and pictures, as i added more  papers and cardstock behind the picture, in order to complete the 12x12 format.

Next I started to embellish the layout by using the stars in the rub ons, and  roller stamp to create the visual traingle in the page.   Then just played with the stickers and the ephemera to form a small cluster at the bottom corner and under the picture of my littles.

For the title of this page, I pulled some of the stickers of the collection and   added them to the top corner of the page.

To keep the focus on the picture, I created  a small pocket where i hid the journal in a small tab.   I really like how this turned out.  Here is the completed layout:

I hope this inspires you to use a large picture in one of your projects.  Remember to check Scrapbook Nerd for all the products used here.

Let me know if you have questions on how this came together!

Take care!

#Be Brave

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - #BE BRAVE -

Hi!

I hope you are doing well!

Today i am back with the first official project as the DT coordinator for Scrapbook Nerd.  I am so thankful to Joy and Barb for trusting on me!.    This time, I want to share a bit of the back story for this picture, before i show you how i created the layout.

I took this picture while hanging off a bridge high over a running river, just so i could take pictures of my kids walking down the river bank... I am a bit crazy that way.   Now back to the layout.  I love a big title, so I used one of the Silhouette alphabets to create the letters and then fuse them all together  with a bit of hand stitching to create the large title for this page.    The collection being featured is 1Canoe2 Creekside collection,

Since there is so much going in the background, I am kept the rest of the page simple. Just a few stickers around the picture.

And a few details around the bottom of the page just bring the page together.  Before i show you the completed page, I want to say that i am in love with the river paper, and it fit the picture so perfectly, i just had to use it.

LOVE, love how this page turn out.   Even when it is so far off my usual white backgrounds,  i could not have been more pleased with the outcome.

I hope this inspires you to pick up a patterned paper as a background.  Remember you can find all the materials used here in the  Scrapbook Nerd store.   As always feel free to contact me with any questions.

Keep on Craftin'
