Be Grateful Be Thankful Be Blessed

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - Be Grateful, Be Thankful, Be Blessed -

Hello there,

I am pulling double duty today!  I have a double reveal for my November projects in two of the design teams I belong, too.   So please just bare with me!

Today I bringing you a new layout I have created for Scrapbook Nerd using the beautiful Golden Days collection from Fancy Pants designs.   I have been waiting for this collection, since the day  I saw a sneak of the papers,   and now that I have it in front of me, I had to use it right away.

I started constructing this page by using the Cut Shoppe's new "Bountiful Blessings" cut file to create a stitched title on this soft plaid paper from the collection.  Once i finished stitching, I went ahead and added gold watercolor from the Prima Metallic palette.

I usually take pictures in a series (that way i know one of the pictures will be good!), and this time i shot my sister and the littles (my niece and nephew) at the Humber River Trail during our Thanksgiving walk.   I picked the best 3 pictures of the bunch, and created a film strip with them.  I chose to just keep my sister's favorite in color, and in the center of  the strip.   I layered papers from the collection, and fussy cut the beautiful florals to accent the strip along with some die cuts, cork  and Puffy stickers from the collection.  You can see all the details in the close ups above.   I wrote the  journal lines in a tag from the collection, and hid them inside a small glassine bag behind the picture strip.   Here is the final layout:

Have i mentioned that i love this collection!, and the ladies at Scrapbook Nerd were so great at ordering it as soon as I mentioned that I would love to work with it (trust me, the Scrapbook Nerd ladies are awesome!).

As always let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for visiting!

Heart Eyes

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - HEART EYES -

Hello there!

It is my reveal week at Scrapbook Nerd, and I have worked some many projects with all the collections I have picked up in the store, that i had to divide some for November, and a few more for December.    For today's project I chose to document one of my favorite pictures from our Thanksgiving weekend,  using some mixed media and the beautiful Maggie Holmes's Gather collection.

The background of the layout was worked on watercolor paper, using the Prima watercolor palettes.  I simply splatter water droplets, and watercolor droplets, and use a wet brush to join the drops together until I am satisfied with the look on the page.   Once it dried, I used a stencil (of very small ovals / leaves), and used Ranger's grit paste along the background.

Since, i wanted to highlight the background of the mat, I kept the picture and its embelishments to a minimum.   I simply fussy cut some of the papers from the 12x12 in paper pad (roses, birds, ticket stubs) and layered them in between the picture.  Here  are a few close ups of the layers:

I used a variety of embelishments from the Gather collection, as well as Shimelle's GO Now Go collection.   The title is made up of this black foil sticker from the Saturday collection, and it was perfect to describe this picture.  Finally, I trimmed the sides of the mat, and attached it to the marbled paper from the Gather collection,  Here is the final layout:

I really love the look of this page, it is colorful  and simple but with lots of little details.  It encapsules the feel of fall to a tee.

As always let me know if you have any questions about how this page came together, and check Scrapbook Nerd to obtain all the products used in this project.   I will be back soon with a few more projects.

Thanks for visiting today!

Blessed

Scrapbook layout created for The Cut Shoppe  - BLESSED -

Hello there!

Today, I am bringing you a new project  for the Cut Shoppe about being thankful for having my uncle in my life.  He is more than my uncle, i think of him as my father, friend, brother, etc., and i think the page reflects the love I have for him.

To create the  wreath in this layout, I cut the tips of the arrow of the word "blessed" from the Bountiful Blessings Cut file, and welded it to one of the images from the Wreathed in Love cut file.

The image was cut in one of the patterned papers from the Dear Lizzy Saturday collection, and a second wreath was cut using a 0.1 offset of the original in white card stock.  I attached the two cut-outs together, and hand stitch them together.

The small branches coming out of the wreath were cut from the Oodles of Doodles cut file, and backed with white vellum.  A large vellum circle was also glued behind the wreath to soften the look of the page.

I kept embelishments to a minimum, just a few around the picture, and a small cluster at the opposite side diagonally.   To continue the look of the paper, the small flowers were fussy cut from the paper, and used along the wreath to  add little pops of color.    Small splatters of black ink,  and the journal lines completed this page:

I love this layout,  as it encompasses techniques that i love, it is simple, and it is all about my uncle.

Don't forget to stop by the Cut Shoppe Store to check all this cut files, and the many more designs available.

Thanks for visiting today!
