3-to-Inspire projects

Hi there!
I am so glad to start a new term with Citrus Twist Kits and all these amazing ladies.   Today i will be hosting the 3-to-Inspire challenge for this week using the beautiful Life Chapters kit.  But before we go into the projects, let me share this week's prompts:

  1. Use a non-white background
  2. Create layers
  3. Add stamping to your title.

For my first project i used the Life Crafted - Life Chapters kit and the Butterfly Frame (free subscriber cut file) to create this page about my daughter's choice to cut her long-er hair.

The cut file was cut from white cardstock, so i chose Vanilla colored cardstock as the background for this page.   Once the frame was machine stitched to the background, i started working on the layers.

The papers in the Life Stories kit  and white vellum were used to cut different size butterflies using the same cut file.    Before attaching these to the page, i added a bit of white paint where the butterflies would be attached, and then machine stitched the butterfly shapes to the background.

For the picture, i chose to add a bit of ink to the background, and then layered papers, ephemera and cut apart elements to frame the picture.

The title was set at the bottom corner of the page, and i chose to mix the kit's  alphas with the stamp set to complete it.  The following  video will show you how it all came together.

I love the softness and color of this page, and since i had the negative pieces from  the cut out, i chose to use them to create a layout in my Life Crafted album using the prompts as inspiration.

This time, I used one of the Life Chapters' papers to create the background for this page.   I used a few of the negative paper pieces to create layers behind the picture.

I used the Life Chapters kit stamp set to create the title for this layout, and set it at the bottom of the picture.

I pulled an upcoming Life Crafted insert -expected in a few weeks- and used the top pocket to house my journal lines - i used the digital cards to add the lines using Photoshop-.   In the bottom pocket, i added one of the cards with a small phrase sticker on it, and then added the layer butterfly to the outside of the pocket.   The layered butterflies were also added to the picture so that there is a unified look in the page.

These two entries were both inspired by the 3 prompts and the colors in the kit, and now it is your turn to use them to create a project of your own.

Smile Always

Scrapbook Layout created for JustNick Studio  -  SMILE ALWAYS -

Hello everyone!
Nathalie with you today!  The weather here in Toronto is still stuck in winter mode, so, what better than bring some needed spring with a colorful new layout that features a few new cut files from JustNick studio.

For this page, i chose the newly released  Spring Florals cut file to cut a few  of the images - in graduating sizes -  from papers of various Jillibean Soup collections.

While the flowers were being cut, i chose to add a bit of color to the background using Distress Oxides.

Having the flowers in graduating sizes helped with the layering of the die cuts to create the flowers and dimension on them.   I chose to add a foam circle in the star shaped flowers so that the 3 layers of die cuts can be distinguished.

The flowers were attached to the background so that they formed a small diagonal line at the top half of the page.   I nestled the picture in the center of the line, and added just a few embellishments around the page.

To create the title,  a combination of word die cuts were created using the Smile and Love You  Eternal cut files from patterned papers from Jillibean Soup collections.  These were layered to create a bit of dimension and to make sure they stand out on the page.

I love how easily this page came together with just a few cut files and a bit of mixed media.   There are so many beautiful cut files arriving at the Just Nick Studio shop weekly, you want to make sure to check them all.  Remember you can always contact me with any questions!

ALTENEW BUILD-a-FLOWER: DAHLIA Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hi there and welcome to the Build-a-Flower: Dahlia Release Blog Hop and Giveaway!   You should be arriving from the talented Emily Midgett's blog.      I am so happy you are joining me today as i show you a few projects created with the beautiful Build-a-Flower:  Dahlia Stamp and Die set.

For my  first project i chose to create a card using the Build-a-FLower: Dahlia Stamp and Die set and pairing up with the Leaf Medallion die.   I chose to stamp the flowers on mixed media paper and used the Altenew watercolors pan set to detail them and bring losts of dimension to the image.

To make the Dahlia stamped images stand out, i used the Leaf Medallion die to create the background from dark brown metallic paper from Tim Holtz.  This was all glued to a white cardstock panel.  The sentiment also comes from the Build-a-Flower:  Dahlia stamp set.   I chose this time to use a wine color card base as it frames the card pannel nicely.    Totally love how easy this was to put together.

After creating the card, i was totally loving the color combination, so i decided to use it to create this layout about my new baby cousin -my Goddaughter-.  This time, i chose to detail the Dahlia stamped images with the Altenew Shade of Purple, Rose Petal, Tropical Forest, Green Fields Crisp Ink Mini Cubes.

To have the colors of the flowers stand out, i paired them with a few papers from the Verdant 6x6 paper pad, and embellishments from the Acetate Butterfly collection.

The title was created using the Mini Hello stamp set and the Charmed Stamp set, and placed opposite to the picture in the layout.   The following video will showcase how this page came together:

The beautiful blooms from the Build-a-Flower: Dahlia set are the perfect background to the sweet picture of my new baby cousin.     The delicate images are so perfect to create all types of projects beyond cards and layouts.  Remember to stop by Altenew to check the new Build-a-Flower: Dahlia stamp and die set, or better yet sign in for the BAF subscription which will provide you with the monthly Build-a-Flower release at a discounted prize .
