Dreaming with Eyes Wide Open

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kits  -   DREAMING WITH EYES WIDE OPEN  -

Hello there!

Happy National Scrapbooking Day to you all!!  I am sure you are all hopping around, absorbing as much inspiration as possible from all the great scrappy feeds.

Clique Kits is also holding an on-line live crop on their Facebook page, The Clique, so come join us.
Today, the DT has created challenges for you all to complete.  This is my first challenge, and it is something dear to my heart,  CUT FILES.  So the challenge is to use a cut file to create a layout.

Today, I am using the beautiful Clique Kits Sorbet kit to create a page about my son.  My scrappy young friend (who happens to be an amazing designer, too), Maryam  Perez, recently released a free cut file on her blog - just click here to be taken to her blog- , and it was perfect for what i had in mind.  So i played with the cut file  (copy, flip and welded the image) until i was happy with it.   Then i used the papers in the kit to back the cuts.

This month's kit -Sorbet- is filled with beautiful pieces of ephemera, so after gluing the picture in the center of the layout, I used the large piece of ephemera to create the title of the page, and frame the picture of my teenage son.

How can you not add so much detail to a page, when there is to much to chose from.  Since the page is mostly black and white, the small pops of color in the ephemera work to bring life and attention around the page, and to the picture.  Here is the final layout:

I love, love  this page.  It is so my style!, and defines my son to a tee!  I really hope you take so time, and visit the Clique to take on some of the challenges.    Remember there is prizes to be won!!
If you would like more information on the materials used in this layout, visit Clique Kits, there are so many beautiful things to chose from in their store.

See you all very soon!!!

Loved

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd   -  LOVED  -

Hello there!

Happy NSD weekend to you all!

If you are a scrapbooker or memory keeper, then you know this weekend is all about this beautiful paper craft.  There is a lot of inspiration going around, as well as challenges, crops, and lots and lots of beautiful projects being created.

Scrapbook Nerd is holding their second physical crop, on NSD, but since not all of us can attend,  we are also issuing some challenges via an on-line crop for all our followers.  Here is one of my challenges:   Use floral motives in a project.

If you follow my work, then you will know by now, I love cut files.   For this layout, I am using an Ina Moreva design from her Etsy store -Handipaper-.   I chose to cut two of the designs on white card stock.

I trimmed some of the pieces to create this floral corner behind the picture.   I am using stickers, and ephemera pieces from different Maggie Holmes collections:  Bloom, Gather, and Chasing Dreams.

For the title I used a large gold chipboard piece from the Gather collection, and tied it into the page by adding a fussy cut butterfly from the Chasing Dreams collection.   A few lines of journal complete this page:

I love the simplicity of the page, and how it brings so much softness to the picture of my daughter on her communion day.   I hope you join us at Scrapbook Nerd Friends and Family facebook page to check this, and the rest of the challenges.

See you all soon!!

Sweet - SCT blog

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook and Cards Today - Cut File Guest Designer  -  SWEET -

Hello there!

I am so excited to share with you all this new project!

A few weeks ago,  I was contacted by Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine about guesting as a designer for their monthly cut file release.  Upon receiving the file, i used it to cut a few different designs from white card stock (you will see the rest of the designs pop in this blog in the next few days!)

I pull the beautiful Simple Stories Faith collection for this layout, and chose to pick just the cool color palette of the collection - yellow, blue, teal and green-.   Using foam adhesive i backed the flowers and leaves in the cut out.

Next I chose to use a large picture of my sister and nephew (a few days after he was born),  I made sure that the picture would fit within the circle.  My idea was to use the picture inside the ring, but instead I chose to leave one of the corners out of the ring.  This gave me space to embellish the corner, and take advantage of the light in the picture.  I wrote my journal in the tag, and glued a small envelope to the layout,so the tag can slide in and out).

I bought each of the new Bella Blvd,  Acrylic pieces, and used it to create the title in this page.   A few stickers, and fussy cut elements complete the title.

To finish the page, I added a few extra of this flowers to cover the original design that was included in the patterned paper.     Though a  few of the pink flowers are showing, the page still has a balance of masculinity due to the color combo.   Here is the final layout:

I love this page,  it is the perfect image for the miracle my nephew is, and the love my sister has for the little.     I am so thankful to Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine, and Nicole Nowosad for having featured me in the blog.
Stop by Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine blog to pick a copy of the cut file.   I look forward to see your takes on the cut file.

Take care!
