Smile -Life is Beautiful- Remember -Who Loves You-

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - SMILE Life is Beautiful.  REMEMBER Who Loves You -

   Hello Crafty friends!

I hope you all are doing great, now that the weather is starting to change!

Today, I am popping here with a new tutorial (my Cameo is taking a rest this time!) that showcases the patterns in the new Pinkfresh Studio collection "DREAM ON".      In case you haven't seen the collection, just click here to be directed to the store (I hope there is still some of the collection left, as it is beautiful!).  The patterns on the papers are just very modern, and unique, plus the colors are just Spring"y".

This layout took exactly 30 minutes to come together.  The inspiration for this page was the patterns on the paper, especially the large phrase paper ( Aspire ).  So i set to cut out the last sentence group on the page,  "SMILE Life is Beautiful.  REMEMBER Who Loves You".  I used my detailing scissors, and exacto knife to fussy cut the letters.

This picture of my mom and nephew is a favorite of ours, and the perfect image to accompany the title.   Using the "Day" paper as a base (the paper has a lovely subtle grid design), I attached the picture and  laid the title (using foam tape) around the picture.  Since the title is so large, a few small pieces from the collection embellishments was all it was needed to frame the picture.

Since the picture and title are anchoring the page in the center.  I fussy cut four rows of circles from the "WISH" paper, and machine stitched them on the page along the horizontal edges of the  page.

This collection is filled with interesting patterns that repeat through the collection, so I picked a mixture of pieces that from the embellishments that resemble the triangles, and circles  in the papers's patterns.  These were clustered at opposite corners (diagonally) on the page.

A few lines of journal complete the page.   Here is a quick video on how this page came together (please forgive the light in the video... we are working on setting a new light system that works for me!)...

Did you see the lighting issues?  My tech savvy son and hubby are working on fixing it.    Back to the layout, now!... The  patterns in the papers in this collection is what inspire this layout, as I always  build backgrounds before adding a picture to it.  Like I mentioned, the  large sentence paper is what brought this page together.  So next time, take a closer look at the patterns in your papers, you will be amazed at what they can inspire!

As always let me know if you have any questions on how any of this came together.

 See you all soon!

Trust - Simple Stories IG hop

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories  -  TRUST  -

Hello crafty friends!

It is an exciting day for me!,  It is the first time, I am using the Simple Stories watermark to showcase one of my projects.  I am still in shock, and so humbled by God's gifts.    IN addition, today the entire 2017 Simple Stories creative team is showcasing their style in a IG hop (if you are visiting by following the link on my IG account... WELCOME!).

For this project I wanted to find a sweet way to document my word of the year using the beautiful Simple Stories products.  The picture is that of my two youngest kids (yes, my Boston Terrier is our baby), and the love they have for each other.   Our baby always comes close to us whenever he is afraid of something, and this capture made me remember of  Psalms 56: 3 "When I am Afraid, I put my TRUST in you".

I simply layered papers from the Faith collection behind the picture, and clustered fussy cut flowers, stickers and brads from the collection around it.

Using  a paper from the Posh collection as base for the page, I fussy cut some of the flowers from the Faith collection, and created these clusters at each corner of the page.   A  bit of foam adhesive works to bring dimension to the cluster, and highlights the small word stickers included in  the clusters.

I love large titles, especially when I can created them with a cut file and hand stitching.   For my OLW,  i used papers from the Faith and Posh collection , and stitched them together to  white cardstock.

I added the Bible verse as my journal lines, as this is just a forever reminder of  God's promises for me, and what I always tend to forget to do:  "TRUST".  Here is the final layout:

I love, love this page, and will now sit on my room next to my bible stand.  The papers are just to beautiful, it broke my heart to have to fussy cut it.

This is just the first of many projects to come in this new adventure with Simple Stories.  I am so thankful to them for the invitation, and I am hoping to not disappoint.

As always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions on how this came together.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Laundry Love

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd On Line March Madness crop   - LAUNDRY LOVE-

Hello there!

The March Madness on-line crop is in full swing over at Scrapbook Nerd.   The DT has been issuing challenges to all the participants, and now is my turn for my second challenge.  This time is all about mixed media.

I started this page by adding a thin layer of gesso to the page (mostly at the center of the page),then using shimmer watercolor, the background was created to match the colors in the Domestic Bliss collection from Simple Stories.

Until the paint dried, I used a Simple Stories cut file to cut the large ampersand on one of the papers from the Domestic Bliss collection.   By adding an offset to the image, and adding some hand stitching, the focus of the page becomes the ampersand image.

After attaching the Ampersand to the page, a few clusters were created on the page -keeping in mind the visual triangle rule-.   A collection of pieces from the collection formed the title and clusters in this piece.

This layout documents the love our baby has for fresh laundered clothes.  So i attached a picture of the baby napping on a fresh pile of clothes, and framed it using clusters made from pieces of the collection.   A few enamel dots, and the typed journal lines complete this page>

I love the colors behind the picture, and how everything points to the subject of the layout.

Remember to join us at Scrapbook Nerd's March Madness on-line crop to see what the DT has been creating, there is always a large gift certificate for a lucky participant.

As always you can contact me with any questions on how this came together.

Take Care
