Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kits monthly challenge  -  READ -

Hello!

i hope you are all doing well.  Still cannot believe we are headed into the second week of February already.  This means it is time for the monthly challenge over at Clique Kits, (you can find all the details at the Clique Kits blog) using the beautiful BEE YOU kit.

For this layout, my starting point was the large title created using an alphabet from the Silhouette store, and papers from the Bee You kit.   A little bit of hand stitching add texture and secures the letters to an off set cut out of the word.   This title was then mounted on vanilla card stock on a slant in the middle of the page.

Using the tags in the cut-out papers of the kit, as well as the exclusive printables, branding strips, and some embelishments, a cluster was formed at the bottom right corner of the page.  A few drops of ink of coordinated colors also were splattered from the bottom right to the upper left corner of the page.

This project documents my niece, and her love of reading.  So the picture was inserted on between some of the title letters.  A few clusters of ephemera and fussy cut elements frame the picture.   Here is the final layout:

The combination of the large title on color card stock is beautiful, and all the papers and embellishments included in Clique Kits's Bee You kit are just perfect to document all types of occasions.   You are all welcomed to visit the Clique Kits blog to see more details on joining the monthly challenge - there is a prize for a lucky contestant at the end of the challenge -

As always let me know if you have any questions on how this came together.

Thanks for visiting today!

Be My Valentine

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd -  BE MY VALENTINE  -

Hello there!

Valentine's Day is coming rather rapidly this year.   We are all ready to capture all the love that can be found on the date.   With this in mind, Scrapbook Nerd is releasing a new cut file, "BE MINE VALENTINE", designed by Ashley Horton from the Cut Shoppe, and you can get a copy of the cut file for free in the Scrapbook Nerd store.

The lovely images on the cut file inspire me to create a new layout about the love that my sister has for her little guy.  Here is a small video on how the page came together:

I hope you enjoyed the video.    This layout all started  with the creation of the background for the cut-outs.   A light coat of gesso was applied to the paper.  Once it dried,  a watercolor background was created using different color shine hues.

The heart was copied two times, and the three images were welded together to create the backdrop for the picture.   A bit of machine stitching secures the hearts to the background.  To create the visual triangle, a cluster of epehemera of the Love and Adore collection was added to the top corner of the image.

The sweet picture of my sister and my nephew was then placed on top of one of the background hearts.   Paper layers, stickers, ephemera pieces, and  chipboard stickers complete the clusters around the picture.

For the title of this project, I played with the position of the Be My Valentine quote, so that it reads horizontally instead of vertically.   Using the Cameo, a stitching guide was created for the title, and a small offset was added to the words, so that the title will stand out from the page.

some shimmering watercolors bring out the details on the letters.

A few more pieces of ephemera were added along the page, as well as the date, journal lines and quite a few splatters of black ink.  Here is the final layout:

As you know (if you follow my work), I love cut files (in fact i own a large collection of them), and these are just perfect to document any small Valentine's Day capture.  Don't forget to stop by Scrapbook Nerd store to get a copy of the free cut file, just click here to be directed to the store.

As always let me know if you have any questions on how this came together.

Thanks for visiting!

Enjoy! - Adventure Awaits

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kits -   ENJOY! - Adventure Awaits  -

Hello there,

Can you believe we are on February already!

That means a new kit is available at Clique Kits.  This month's BEE YOU kit is packed with the new Hazelwood collection from 1 Canoe 2 for American Crafts.  The gorgeous papers, embelishments, and the Clique Kits exclusives are perfect to document all kinds of memories.

Since we have had a mild weather the past week, all i have been thinking is   of travel and adventure, so I used one of this month's  Clique Kits exclusives to create a layout about the first day we arrive to my native little town.

I started by cutting the image on one of the papers from the collection, and used some foil to recreate the gold look of the stand of a globe.

adding some vellum behind the image creates a soft shadow that brings out the details of the image

Next I layered some papers behind the picture, and used the branding strips, CK exclusive printables, and ephemera to add interest to the picture.   One of the cut apart papers of the collection had a globe picture with the quote " Adventure Awaits", so I fussy cut the words and used them as a subtitle to this page.

All the butterflies in this kit are one of my favorite parts of the BEE YOU kit.  So i used them to create the idea of butterflies flying around the globe.

The page was trimmed and mounted onto the b side of the paper used to cut the image.   A few ink drops, the date and some journal lines complete the page,  Here is the final layout:

Here is a small video on how the page came together.  Please enjoy!

I hope you enjoyed the quick video!,  As you can see, Clique Kits's BEE YOU kit is so versatile.   You can check all the details included in the kit and more just by clicking here to be directed to the Clique Kits website.

I am always just a comment away, if you have any questions on how this came together.

Thanks for Visiting!!!
