Sweet Charm

Scrapbook Layout -  Sweet Charm

a close up of the layout details

Hello everyone!,

I love cut files, and Scrapbook Nerd has just released a new cut file, "X to my O", designed by the Cut Shoppe.   Since I can resist using them, I chose to create a sample to go along with the published cut file image.

To start this layout, I traced the cut file, and set the machine to perforate the XO in the design (i removed the circle out of the design for  the moment.   I then used embroidery floss to complete the background of the page...

the colors match those in MME's On Trend 2 collection

I chose to cut  the circle out of another patterned paper, making sure to shrink it a bit.  Using foam adhesive squares, I attached it to the stitched background.

Since there is a lot of color on the page, i picked to use a black and white picture of my niece on her 8th birthday, and anchored it to the lower right side of  the page. I added  a few clusters around the picture (all materials come from the same collection).

For the title, I picked the mirror stickers from the collection and placed them on the opposite side diagonally to the picture.

Finally I added some small details (enamel dots) and my journal lines along the page.  Using a black fine marker, I create a small border along the edge of the circle, as to give the impression of stitching-.  Here is the final layout:

I am so happy with the results, and have started finding ideas on how to use the cut file differently.  Do not forget to stop by the Scrapbook Nerd Store to pick up your FREE copy of the cut file,  just follow this link.

As always let me know if you have any questions about the layout.

See you soon!!

Be My Valentine

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd -  BE MY VALENTINE  -

Hello there!

Valentine's Day is coming rather rapidly this year.   We are all ready to capture all the love that can be found on the date.   With this in mind, Scrapbook Nerd is releasing a new cut file, "BE MINE VALENTINE", designed by Ashley Horton from the Cut Shoppe, and you can get a copy of the cut file for free in the Scrapbook Nerd store.

The lovely images on the cut file inspire me to create a new layout about the love that my sister has for her little guy.  Here is a small video on how the page came together:

I hope you enjoyed the video.    This layout all started  with the creation of the background for the cut-outs.   A light coat of gesso was applied to the paper.  Once it dried,  a watercolor background was created using different color shine hues.

The heart was copied two times, and the three images were welded together to create the backdrop for the picture.   A bit of machine stitching secures the hearts to the background.  To create the visual triangle, a cluster of epehemera of the Love and Adore collection was added to the top corner of the image.

The sweet picture of my sister and my nephew was then placed on top of one of the background hearts.   Paper layers, stickers, ephemera pieces, and  chipboard stickers complete the clusters around the picture.

For the title of this project, I played with the position of the Be My Valentine quote, so that it reads horizontally instead of vertically.   Using the Cameo, a stitching guide was created for the title, and a small offset was added to the words, so that the title will stand out from the page.

some shimmering watercolors bring out the details on the letters.

A few more pieces of ephemera were added along the page, as well as the date, journal lines and quite a few splatters of black ink.  Here is the final layout:

As you know (if you follow my work), I love cut files (in fact i own a large collection of them), and these are just perfect to document any small Valentine's Day capture.  Don't forget to stop by Scrapbook Nerd store to get a copy of the free cut file, just click here to be directed to the store.

As always let me know if you have any questions on how this came together.

Thanks for visiting!
