Stay Wild

Scrapbook Layout created for Just Nick Studio  - STAY WILD -

Hi there!
Nathalie back with you today with a new project using some of the Just Nick Studio cut files.   I love all things Fall, and as soon as Cat Martin (one of our past designers) released her new digital collection, Norwegian Wood.   The idea of building a forest scene/diorama came to my mind.
To create the frames that are in the background and around the page, i  used the Floral Corner and Graphic Frames cut files.

First i copy and welded a few of the Flower Corner cut file so that they form a square of flowers on the mat.

Then i attached one of the Graphic Frames to the flower square and sent it to cut from white cardstock.   I cut two frames, one to fit the entire page, and a smaller one at about 2 inches shorter.

Before gluing pieces to the page, the smaller frame was use as a mask to add a bit of color (so that it match the tones in the collection)to the center of the page - I used VIcki Boutin Crayons for this-.

Each frame was backed with colored vellum (also created with VIcki Boutin Crayons) and then a bit of foam adhesive was used to create the dimension on the page.   Since the background and frames are doing a lots of the work, just a few decorations from the collection were needed to complete this page.

Love how this turned out.   Sometimes all  it takes is a few cut files to translate your ideas into the perfect layout.  Remember to stop by JustNick Studio to check the cut files used in this project, and all the new designs being added weekly.
You can always contact me if you have questions on how this was put together.

Happy Haunting

Scrapbook Layout created for The Cut Shoppe   - Happy Haunting -

a close up of the layout

Hello dear friends!

A few days ago, Ashley Horton - the owner of the Cut Shoppe - created a new digital/printable collection for the Etsy store.  "Ghost Town" is a beautiful Halloween collection full of traditional and non-traditional patterns and colors (some of the patterns can be used in non-Halloween related pages... YAY!!).  It comes with beautiful coordinating alphas, cut apart cards, ephemera, and cut-outs; and for the first time the store will also be selling coordinating wood veneers and acrylic pieces.  But above all, the best part of this collection is that you get to print what you need at your convenience.  Just click here to be taken to the store, and you can see the collection closely.

Since, I cannot resist pretty paper, I went to Staples and had the entire collection printed in large format card stock, so I can use it right away  ( I have a large catalog of pictures that have yet to be documented).  I have put together a small video on how the layout came together:

To create this layout, I started by using the Wicked Fun cut file from the Cut Shoppe, and welded a few of the bat  images together.  I backed the cut-out with papers from the collection.

A close up to the cut-outs, and the pretty papers

I mounted the cut-out on the beautiful wood grain paper from the collection (it is one of my favorite papers), and just added my picture, and pieces of ephemera from the collection.  Since the entire collection was printed in a laser printer, it was so easy to foil some of the pieces of ephemera.

For the title, I used one of the large cut-outs from the collection.  I choose not to cut it with the Cameo, but instead fussy cut it, so I could keep the letters together.

Finally, I just added a few details to the page, as well as my journal lines.  Here is the completed page:

I really love this Halloween collection, "Ghost Town", from the Cut Shoppe.  It really is beautiful and innovative, as well as easy to work with.  To get your copy just visit the Cut Shoppe Etsy store.

As always, let me know if you have any questions about the layout.

Take care!
