SUNDAY SKETCH - Citrus Twist Kits

Hello everyone!
Nathalie here with the last sketch on June... Tomorrow a new kit will be revealed (and it is a beauty!), but before we get new goodies, let me show you how i made the most of my kits using this week's sketch as inspiration.  Here is this week's sketch:

It is a rather fun sketch, as soon as i saw it all i could think of was a grid  of some sort.   First i decided to use the sketch with the left over pieces from my Around Here  Life Crafted Kit in my Life Crafted album:

For this layout, i decided to divide the sketch in  half and follow it as close as i could.  Since the pictures are in color, i decided to chose rather neutral papers for the layers behind them.

The secret to balance the sketch was to keep everything at the same level/border.  So, once i had the limits marked, i used the typewriter to add my lines of journal, and then glued the layers in place.   I added the extra tag above the small strip of paper at the bottom of the picture to help balance the page.

I followed the sketch for the other side of the layout, but added a few things just so that it helped me tell the story of the pictures.   All the gorgeous ephemera pieces about "creatives" was perfect for this side, so i just added them to the clusters and then stamped some sentiments from some of this month's Stamp sets.   Love how easy it came together, but i tried the same sketch with the add-on kit for a 12x12 layout.

I wanted all those pastel colors in the Add on kit to create this page about my daughter's first horse-riding adventure.

I started with creating the layers behind the picture using all the papers from the add on kit.  However the bottom layer of the pictures is one of the large Alpha pieces (Maggie Holmes Sunny Days collection) as they had a vibrant and solid look to them.

To bring the grid look of the sketch to the page, i decided to mount my layers on a piece of vellum.  This helped with limiting the space for the layout, and made layering the papers much easier (a little chipboard and foam adhesive help to create the soft shadow behind the layers).

I wanted to keep the soft look of the page, so instead of adding those paper strips to the corners of the page, my  choice was to create a small shaker pocket.  For this, i simply used a ruler and penciled the rectangles, then hand stitched the rectangles and fill them with sequins.

To finish the page, I used one of the ephemera pieces from the Around Here kit in combination with the stickers from the add on kit, added a few gold ink splatters, and then added my lines of journal with gold ink (and smudge a bit of it with my hand, too).

Just love how these turned out using the sketch as the starting point for the layouts.    If you have questions on how these came together, please do not hesitate to contact me!

EVERYDAY DOCUMENTING - Citrus Twist Kits

Hi there!
Nathalie with you today.   I am hoping you all have had the time to take a look at this month's AROUND HERE kit, the Add-on kit and all the Add-on Stamps.   Aren't they all amazing?!  Well, today, I want to show you a more in depth look at some of this items by creating a few entries for my May Life Crafted album.

The new This is Life - ROUTINE stamp set is versatile and perfect for many different documenting formats.  I chose to use it to create the film strips that form the background for an entry in my Life Crafted album.

I pulled Distress Oxides to match the colors in this month's  AROUND HERE kit and then created the film strips by repeating the stamp.   I left a small space between each film strip to add the title and date.  Those lovely foam stickers in this month's kit are so awesome and perfect size for the  album - i need to purchase a few more of this-.

For the other side of my layout, i printed one of the digital TN papers to be the same size of the Page insert (5x8.25in) and then placed my picture strip right on it.   I  used embellishments from the kit ans also from the cut apart elements sheet available for free to subscribers or for purchase at the CTK Digital shop.

To tie the two sides of the layout together, i chose to use the This is Life -ROUTINE stamp to create a small film slide.  This was fussy cut and then i used the white space in the center to add my lines of journal.   Love how this turned out, and all the color used to document a few fun pictures of my daughter and i.

Since we are talking stamps, then you want to make sure you add one of the 3x4 Typewriter Alpha stamp to your collection. The size of these alphas are great to add them to pocket pages, or in my case to build the title for my layout.

This month's Add-on Kit is amazing, and i love how versatile it can be.   For my layout, i pulled one of the new page protector (Protector #2) configurations, so that i could use some of the cut apart cards from the Pinkfresh Studio paper included in the kit.

I kept the pockets pretty simple, but makes sure to play with the circle, arrows and accents of yellow to make sure these two create a coherent look on the spread.

To balance the spread, i cut a piece of one of the Pinkfresh Studio papers -included in the add-on kit- to build the background.  The large 6 alpha from the Maggie Holmes Sunny Days collection was the inspiration for this page.   I build a small cluster of ephemera and cut aparts making sure they matched the colors in the spread.

Here is where i used the TYPEWRITER stamp to complete the title around the number (Toronto is known as the "6") .   The font is perfect to match all the fonts around the page, and since they are individual alphas, you can shape your title around any area.  The following video will show you how it all came together:

Remember to check all the new stamps that are available this month, if you miss adding them with your kit,  it is ok, all CTK stamps are shipped for free!  If you have questions on how this came together, please do not hesitate to contact me!

BLESSED - Citrus Twist Kits

A new kit has just been revealed at Citrus Twist Kits.  The new Life Crafted kit - AROUND HERE is colorful, fun and oh so perfect for daily documenting.

Today, we are celebrating the release with a fun 3-to-Inspire challenge, here are the prompts:

  1. Patterned paper
  2. Bow cut file
  3. the kits itself.

I used the three prompts to create this page

First i transform the picture of my love ones to black and white and size it to fit on single page of my Life Crafted album.   Then i pulled an old CTK excluive cut out the title and the bow (these were sized accordinly)

I decided to hand stitched on the create a series of strings (3, one for each of my decease grandparents)and then glue the bows here as the tails of flying kites.

The title was placed at the bottom of the page, i added my lines of journal right under it, and
then used just added a few mores stampsentiments

I love how this turned out.  Remember to check Citrus Twist kits for the new kits and social media to see a few of the girl's projects using these prompts.
