All Around The World

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - All Around The World -

Hello everyone,

Hope you are enjoying your summer!;

I have been busy putting together some of this year  and past years' memories  into layouts for my kids' albums.  Fortunately,  Scrapbook Nerd is releasing new cut files (The wanderer, and Beach Bound) designed by The Cut Shoppe, and you can get them for free at their on-line store...

It is a known fact, that the Cameo and I get along very well together, so I have used The Wanderer cut file to create this layout about our family trip to Ecuador last spring  ( I have 3000 more pictures from the trip)...    For this layout,  the All Around The World  design was amplified to fit fully in a 12x12in paper.  I made sure to cut the map inside the circle, and then created isolated the circle to obtain the pieces used here.

A close up of the map stitched to the mat.

The map was glued to the mat; once secured, I pierced the edges around the map, and used different color embroidery thread to hand stitch the edges ( the colors of the thread match those of the ones found in the Outfitters collection  by Pink Paislee, that is featured in this layout)...

I added a small marker to mark the place where the  picture was taken.

The  outer circle (title of this layout) was then glued to the layout using foam  adhesive to create dimension on the piece).

A close up of the picture and its layers.

The picture of my kids was them layered using papers from Pink Paislee's Outfitters collection, as well as pieces from their ephemera pack.   I chose to add the journal lines at the opposite side of  the picture to balance the layout.  Here is the final layout.

I really loved using the cut file along with the paper collection to document a little moment of our trip to  Ecuador.   As always, let me know if you have any questions about the layout.

Don't forget to visit Scrapbook Nerd to get a copy of the new cut files being released (they are free)...

Till next time,

Happy Scrappin!!

Wanderlust

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd - Wanderlust -

a close up of  the layout..

Hello!

It is sad to see how time is flying, and slowly the season is changing.   Maybe that is the reason, I feel like documenting summer and spring pictures, as my way to hold on to the summer's relaxed feeling.   For this layout, I chose a picture of the many walking trips we take with the kids and my fur-baby.  Here is a quick video on how the layout came together:

For this layout, I chose to work with a large picture (8.5x11 in), and Fancy Pants' Life is Beautiful collection.  I wanted the picture and the title to be the main focus, so i chose to emphasize both. For the title, Scrapbook Nerd's cut file,  " The Wanderer", was used.  I added a circle shape around the word as I wanted to make it part of the picture.  To emphasize the word, "wanderlust',  I used a bit of watercolors to try and match the tones on the paper used on the layout.

The idea of having the title be part of the picture was constructed by cutting the arc in each of the layers of the picture.   Since I wanted to keep the focus on the title and picture, I added just a few details to the page.

A small point of interest on the project.

I chose to add my journal lines within the picture, and add just a few accents along the way:

Finally, i added a few extra details, before finalizing the layout:

I hope this gives you some ideas on incorporating large pictures into your layouts.   Sometimes simplicity is the way to go; that and beautiful paper (you can find this and other collections  at Scrapbook Nerd).

Till next time,

Keep craftin'!

Hello Summer, I Love You!

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd - Hello Summer, I Love You -

a peek at the layout.

Hello all!,

As my reveal week continues at Scrapbook Nerd.   I am still inspired to document summer memories - it is my way to preserving the  long hot days in the sun with my family-.  For this layout I am using a picture of my son and my nephew at the EX.   These two are 12 years apart, but love each other to death.   I have created a small video on how the layout came together, I hope you enjoy it:

For this layout, i chose to use the Cut Shoppe's Summertime Circles.   The Sun shape was used to recreate the sunny feeling of the day.  To create the Sun, I isolated the sun shape on the Silhouette software, and sent it to cut on white cardstock.  Next, I did not unload the cut mat, and added an external offset to the page, I set the machine to perforate the offset line, so that i can follow the perforations with some hand stitching.   Once I have the cut out, I stitched the sun in different colors (all found in the stripe paper of the collection), and proceeded to back the cut out with a paper of the same color as the stitched line.

Here is how the cut-out looks like before the picture was added.

The picture was added next.    Many layers were created by using papers of the collection, and pieces of ephemera, and cut-outs from the Silhouette store.

a close up of  the picture

For the title, i chose stickers from the collection to form my sentence. ..

I cut a small edge of the layout, and attached it to the stripped paper from the collection using a sewing machine.  A few more details were also added in the page.  Here is the final layout:

I love the simplicity of this page, as it brings the attention to the picture.   I hope you visit Scrapbook Nerd to see what the ladies have in store.

As always do not hesitate to contact me with any questions about this or any or my layouts.

 See you around!
