Shine Bright

Scrapbook Layout created for Maya Road  - SHINE BRIGHT -

Hello there!

This is the first project of a very busy day here at the blog.  This time the scrapbook layout is for Maya Road, and this month the focus is on CHARMS.

There are so many beautiful products to chose from the store, but i wanted to mixed them up in one single layout, so I opted to create a banner type  design to showcase a picture of my daughter.

This layout took very little time to put together.  It all started by marking the two holes where the brads would be located.  A bit of mixed media (using shimmer inks in this case) adds interest, and color to the simple design.

Once the background was dry, the brads were put in place, and a bit of gold wax  cording was run only through one of the brads.   Here is where the fun started!.  My idea was to center the picture, and add embellishments to each side of the picture.

I started by using the Geometric Feather  Die  to obtain some feathers, one from pattern paper (Carta Bella's Flora 1 collection), one from vellum, and one from cardstock.  I tied them together with some jute twine, and used a Resin Flower  to add some decoration to the bunch.   Now to start building my banner!  I worked from left to right (making sure the picture was centered).

First i thread some stickers from the Hello Lovely collection from Simple Stories, next a key charm from the Ken Oliver Heart and Key charm set,  a tag from the Flora collection, followed by the feather bunch.   Next i thread the picture, and secure it to the mat using foam adhesive -s0 that there is dimension to the picture-.

Once the picture was secured, i added  a Geometric Heart Die cut backed with vellum, and a Star Bright charm, before adding my journal tag.  A few more stickers and tags from the two collections being used, and finally a Soaring Bird charm completes the banner.  Then the string was secured in the  brad.

Now to complete and balance the page, I used the Sparkle and Shine Die Set to create the title of this page.  By simply cutting the title from some of the papers used in the layout, and then layering them with a bit of an offset creates the illusion of a dimensional title.  A few add ons complete the page.

I hope this inspires you to take a look at all the beautiful MAYA ROAD products available at the online store.  Remember there are still a few days to take advantage of the CHARMS promotion.
You can always contact me if you have any questions on how this page came together.

Til next time!

Together

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd's Summer On-line Camp                     - TOGETHER-

Hello there!

It has been a long time since I have been up on my blog, but we took a long planned vacation to my native Ecuador, and just arrived a a few days ago.     You will be seeing a lot of my work coming up as i have so many plans on the works.

Today,  I am issuing a new challenge at Scrapbook Nerd's Friends and Fans Facebook page for the on-line summer camp.  This time is all about FIX IT UP, which translates into using your editing programs to transform  a picture to fit into a project of your choice.

I always take pictures of my kids in series, so I used LR to create a film strip of some of the pictures of my kids, and also transformed into Black and White.   Next, i used the cut files (you can download them at the bottom of this page!!)  to create the background of my piece.

I used Page Evans's Oh My Heart collection to color block the hearts in the background, and added embellishments to match the colors.   Next I stitched around the speech bubble with the same color of the background paper (paper # 18 - Take Me Away collection).  I glued the heart background onto the paper, and used foam adhesive to attached the speech bubble paper to the mat.

To continue with the color blocking design, I used matching embellishments to add interest all along  the page, and added a bold color title to the page.  Here is the final design:

Love the end feel and look of this page!   I hope you can join in the challenges at Scrapbook Nerd's On line summer Camp.

Remember, I am a comment away if you need any assistance!

Take care!

Materials Used:
Take Me Away collection - paper #18
Oh My Heart collection - paper #4, 12x12 paper pad, 6x6 paper pad, all embellishments
Better Together collection - foam thickers

Canada

Scrapbook Layout created for Wild Whisper  - CANADA -

Hi there!

Though I was born in Ecuador, I call Canada my home  for over 25+ years.   I am a proud Canadian, now, and with the country celebrating its 150 anniversary, I wanted to create a layout about the best thing Canada has given me, my kids!

For this layout, i wanted to stay true to the national colors red and white, so I used a Silhouette cut file to create the large maple leaf on the left hand side of  one of the papers of the Strong and  Free collection.

I love the simplicity, and color combination of this page.   The dimension and textures in the leaf are just perfect to document my loves in our hometown.   The Wild Whisper's Strong and Free collection is gorgeous, but if you are a Canadian, it is also a must in your paper collection.

If you have any questions on how this came together, please do not hesitate to contact me.

And don't forget to check the Wild Whisper's blog for a detailed post and lots of close ups.

See you all soon!
