Hello there!

i hope you are all safe from the snow!  It is starting to look a lot like winter here in Canada!


A few of the members in the Scrapbook Nerd community had asked how i create the watercolor background on my layouts.   So I thought i create  a small tutorial to illustrate one of the ways i go about creating a background.   I shot a small video to accompany the tutorial on Scrapbook Nerd's blog.   Please enjoy the video:

The title of this page comes from Juliana Michaels's free cut file, "Besties".  I hand stitched it onto the watercolor background.   The rest of the project came together by using  Pink Paislee's Take Me Away collection.  Here are some close ups, and the final layout:

Welcoming Nathalie DeSousa to the Maya Road Team

We couldn't be more excited to be adding another designer to the Maya Road Design Team! Our talented designers are hand-picked to bring you inspiring projects and we are thrilled to introduce you to Nathalie DeSousa!

Nathalie is an amazing and prolific scrapbooker with a fresh eye and works her magic with our dies and embellishments. In her our words, here's a little about Nathlie...

Hi, I am Nathalie DeSousa (aka Tachita, my nickname since birth). I grew up in beautiful Ecuador, but have called Toronto, Canada, my home for the past 25 years. I am a stay-at- home wife and mom of two teenagers and a Boston terrier – he is my baby, but don’t tell my kids I said so!-.

My mom introduced me to arts and crafts at a very early age, since then I have been hooked on anything homemade. I started scrapbooking when my kids were younger, as a way to document their lives; but it was when they got older that I dove completely into this paper craft, and love every minute! In the past years, I have been blessed to work in different design teams, and some of my work has been published in Canadian scrapbooking magazines. I find each of these experiences has been wonderful, and brought so much inspiration to my work.

I am honored and thrilled to be joining the Maya Road team! I love the designs, textures, and overall versatility of their products. I cannot wait to start this new adventure with all this beautiful products, and see how they complement my projects. It is truly an honor!
